Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
update on the dump truck! With all fitting and electrical testing done its time for final assembly :D Upgraded the stock rear suspension to handle more weight with these,
http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s194f1c0b.jpeg also added a new punisher driveshaft and alloy trailing arms http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s1c47874c.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...sbfe34d38.jpeg Now the wiring begins:eek::D... my 3rd build and my first day cab and what a challenge it has been to make it all fit but so far so good:) As the layers of wire get laid out, things are all still going good:bounce: http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s3dd1a97d.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s78d7b66a.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s84592adf.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...sd2badcae.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s66de0a5e.jpeg trying to keep it neat, tidy and fit. If I plan on removing cab to replace the battery on a regular basis, its gotta be user friendly ! thanks for looking. Mario |

got some progress to report on the dump truck. thanks to 1985kenworth ( Dwayne) who posted pics of some air cleaner guards, I really liked the idea and thought I would add to this build. this truck is going to follow the look or theme Susans black pete. Black and chrome but a Kenworth. I think these will add a nice touch once the body is painted. I think I have the size, lines and angle correct? please let me know what ya think:) http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...sd39ecf52.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s9de8e706.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s1fb77c32.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s9de8e706.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s371de45c.jpeg and the latest video showing all the goodies stuffed into a day cab and yet comes on and off easy enough!:D:) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tbGH...&feature=share thanks for looking, all comments and suggestions always welcome! mario |

A great way to improve stock suspension without breaking the bank and gives a infinite range of suspension strength depending on application. I admit they are not a scale looking shock but a great way to improve suspension strength! Oil filled and with adjustable spring tension works great. No modifying or extra hardware required to install. I've purchased from this guy many times and had absolutely no trouble. Arrives from Hong Kong in just over a week for me. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/ALLOY-REAR-SH...item5889ffc43b Mario |

Truck is coming along nicely Mario!! I like your hidden switch trick, was trying to use that step for a receiver but did not work for me, so I left it alone.

Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
Looks great Mario. What happens if the battery dies while the box is down? Is there a back up plan?
Reg |
Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
Thanks for all your kind words and encouragement guys I appreciate it.:)
Yes Reg, I do have 2 backup plans actually. Both ESC's are cheap and don't have a lipo low voltage cutoff so to prevent doing any damage I bought a lipo low voltage audible alarm. As soon as I hear it chirp even once, I know it's time to raise the box a couple inches ( it doesn't take much to gain the room needed to clear the back cab plate) and replace the battery. The other plan is, you built this box with 4 screws to secure on the dumping mechanism. It fits so well and snug I'm only going to secure with the 2 in the bottom of the box and not reinstall the 2 on the front edge of it. So worst case scenario is I remove the box to be able to get the cab off. In hindsight, I guess I should have wired up a manual switch in the right side step and could have used a 9 volt battery in the fuel tank as a aux power source. But way too far into this build to do that now:eek: I'm sure the audible alarm will work fine. It's loud! You can't miss it when it goes off! Mario |
Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
is it that loud...wow probably cause an evacuation in the neighboring buildings.they will think its a fire alarm:lol:
|
Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
Instead of taking the cab off to charge , solder another plug to the battery and tuck the plug out of the way underneath the cab, that way you just pull out the plug and plug in the charger .just make sure the Esc is off .I have done this on a few of my Toys that are difficult to access the battery

I blow a battery on the work bench, no problem. If I fry a battery while in the truck.... Big problem! Thanks for the input though. It all boils down to personal preference I guess. If I asked 20 guys about charging batteries in the truck, 10 would say not a problem and the other 10 would say don't do it I bet ya:confused::) Mario |
Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
thanks mario for the link to the shocks yeah they will fit the truck nicely and your dump truck looks great i plan to build a daycab some time later on down the road.

Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
**** yea Mario the switches in the steps is a great idea, and the air cleaner guards look awesome as well. This is gonna be one sweet kw when its done. I xant wait to see it finished.

Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
So I was planning on waiting until I got it in my hands but I'm too excited now and have to share.:p
I just sent the cash and will be a proud new owner of a 4200XL :bounce: I was thinking about the barebones machine but I'm in a " I want it now! This summer! " kind of mood so a RTR machine is what I wanted. I can't wait! :bounce: One more thing, you guys who complain about the shipping charges in the US for this machine? Try shipping to Canada. It's an extra ouch! Mario |
Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
Mario what is a 4200XL??? bit I am glad that you are getting one...

Looking good Mario! Bummer about the paint job, but I never have good luck with paint either. Nice work on the air cleaner tube trim pieces. They look great. Congratulations on the new excavator too!

Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
Thanks Nathan. yes, the paint thing was a bummer. Fortunately I finally got the cab back from a real painter and it looks good!
Metallic black base coat and clear coat. Theres a few dust specs in the clear but I can live with that. This isn't a show truck by any means:). its been a long stop and start build for sure :o but seven months later the dump truck is done. All that's left are company logos for the doors and I need to replace the stock front bumper. I hate it already:eek: anyway, here it is.... http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...sffa366e7.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s0dfb76cf.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s85548789.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...sa654d0fc.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...sdbb07d97.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s3b69bc21.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...sd172fb05.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...sf2ba5931.jpeg and a video in the basement http://youtu.be/Xa4veeR4Nko Thanks for looking. on to the next project!:bounce: Mario |

Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
I don't mean to brag but..... I've only been digging with my bruder loader for less than 2 hrs in the over year and a half that I've owned it.
Just like the metal high quality versions, it takes time to tweak and get the bugs out. I'm only now finally getting some time at the controls and it hasn't taken long to get pretty good with this little guy.:D All was going great until I tried to dig some of the heavier, more dense packed material.:mad: Keep an eye on the bucket tilt cylinder at the end of the video. Tore the tilt link right off the pin:eek: Shame on me! I'm a mechanic always blaming and bad mouthing operators! Who can I blame now? :cop::lol: http://youtu.be/f5y0y_ohQqU Like I say, nothing wrong with this little loader. Just remember, the hydraulics are stronger than the plastic! :p:lol: http://youtu.be/o7dCr5ZGYrs Thanks for looking. :) Mario |

Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
great dump wish i had those toys. awesome videos

Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
That turned out nice, Mario. I like the visor and grille. Both add a lot to the truck, along with the double square headlights. That's definitely worth the effort. Yup, I have to agree with you. The bumper needs to be changed, but it's really not that bad, other than it's plastic. What will you go with? Big square replacement, or a larger tapered front bumper?

Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
I have dump truck envy.
