Re: RCLogger
Looks smooth Greg.
Are you mixing the drive motors (proportionate to the steer input) as you turn or just running them all together? My skidder would "chew" at the ground if the turned tight and had the throttle working. Just curious. Ben |
Re: RCLogger
nice workman ship as always greg:D

Re: RCLogger
Nice build Greg, I have to agree the loader is very smooth and the operator is really smooth to!
|
Re: RCLogger
Very nice! It's got fantastic reach! That's a pretty tall dump trailer too.
|
Re: RCLogger
Well done Greg, very well done!
I'd say the characteristics of your lift height & radius of your bucket travel is much greater than that of my Stahl loader.. the quality of your selfmade models is a step above anything I buy from the marketplace. Congratulations on another skillfully built model to your fleet. :) What radio you using with this loader? Robot Marketplace has some reasonably price forward only esc's that are very small in stature that work great for the Leimbach pump. |
Re: RCLogger
Nice job Greg! That's one tall belly dump.
Cheers, Neil. |
Re: RCLogger
Thank you for all your interest in my CAT 980 build. I am very happy with the first test run, as far as operator smooth operation, WELL it was my first time and at times there was confusion on what function I should be doing.. The belly dump trailer is 11 inches tall and that is the same height as when the bucket is fully dumped..
Snowchaser - all the drive motors are hooked to the same speed control, maybe lower torque motors I am using make for less binding.. Joe - Thanks for your kind words, I find building is a joy its fun trying to figure things out.. But with all the great folks and information on this thread it makes things so much easier... I will take your advice and put a speed control on the pump and mix the speed with the radio.. |
Re: RCLogger
I have now started the styrene work on the loader, way to many pieces... This machine has to many corners. Not so much fun !

Re: RCLogger
Greatness. Is your rear bumper solid styrene or did you wrap it? What did you use for the pre-cleaner? It won't be long now.

Now for the vids! :D I'm thinking I may come out to see you guys this summer, if our schedules will sync, been 5yrs since I was there last & you guys have built alot of interesting pieces in that short amount of time. ;) |
Re: RCLogger
Awesome Greg! And just in time for next weekends show!
I must admit that I'm pretty stoked to be in the drivers seat still. I've always wanted to operate one of your machines. It looks like I need to defrost the front window though before I can get to loading!:p |
Re: RCLogger
Great repurposing of materials Greg! A few additional decals and you're done eh? Like Joe said, we need some videos now.

Re: RCLogger
Dam! Perfect speed and cycle times? I'd like to see it head to head with Lou's Wedico to compare power and speeds. Fantastic job Greg.

Re: RCLogger
Great to see you figured out how to mix. ;)
Movements are very quick & smooth. Well done Greg well done. |
Re: RCLogger
Didn't take Reg very long to figure out the controls. If you guys think it looks good on video, you should see it in person. It's one awesome machine. Nice going Greg.

Re: RCLogger
Guys:
I dunno if Logger mentioned it, but the neatest place to find that perforated mesh, and about the only one I've found, as in post #502, first image, on the grille, is from inside the doors of microwave ovens! Only other place I've seen it used is on cheap radios and speakers, and you only get small pieces then. The expanded mesh he used on the engine side grilles can be bought in Michaels for stiffening plaster sculptures, or in the pharmacy for making wrist supports the same way. Just more FYI from a fellow scavenger, WhiteWolf |
