Re: RCLogger
When I pulled the red wires out the rx plugs of the Sabertooth, then the dual esc didn't work. I use the small receiver 4.8v batt that comes with radio kits with the Sabertooth red wires installed as well, I never had any problems, nor any time outs b/c of thermal protection.

Re: RCLogger
Alternative to screw drive !
I worked on a different system for a dump system on my ADT. There is not a lot of room for a screw drive system unless I build a new box, so I worked on a pulley system today and it seems to work. Far from clean and hidden, but it is simple.. http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps452f62bf.jpg |

Re: RCLogger
Pulley system is similar to what I am going to use on my end dump. Looks good.

Re: RCLogger
Just a update, some people have been asking what I have been up to... Well the ski season on the West Coast has been very GRIM this year. Not much of a winter as of yet with the ski hill only open for a few days so far due to lack of snow.
I have started a log skidder build, it is now rolling. I am very impressed with its climbing power. http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...psffe42b8a.jpg |

Re: RCLogger
Nice! How are you driving the wheels. Speaking of wheels, are those tires off of an old Radio Shack RC car? I have an old one called the Car Crusher. Also a smaller 4x4 with the same style tire but smaller scale.

Re: RCLogger
Greg, Good to see that you got a new build in progress, its been a while since I have been on here but I'm getting caught up on some full size and 1/2 scale projects and hope to soon get back on a articulated tractor project. In the mean time, I need to read through the forum. Keep us posted on this build. Thanks, Fred

Re: RCLogger
Looks good Greg and the new work area looks good too!! Are you taking it to Duncan with you? I got one of the 1/16 scale Deere dozers down here at an Ontario JD dealer. Going to convert it this winter.
Cheers. |
Re: RCLogger
Thx Joe, you must be busy this time of the year..
Looking forward to seeing your new Cat Rob Here is a video of the new machine at work. Skided about two highway loads of logs in about half of an hour, short skid but steep ground.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0yF2...PhxrdmLzqdYL-Q |
Re: RCLogger
Great photo Greg ..looks way to clean though ..Looking forward to seeing what this bad boy can do.

Re: RCLogger
The skidder looks great. It is strong for not having any hydraulics. I kept waiting for you to grab an bundle of logs and drag them over the dirt pile just to show how well it climbs.
How did you set up the mechanics of the grapple. It looks like it grabs the logs pretty firmly, but there doesnt appear to be a way to cheat and gain a lot of mechanical advantage. Just curious how you made it so strong. Thanks again for sharing your awesome builds. |

Re: RCLogger
I am trying to find some time to start a new project. It is a LOW BUDGET Grader. Attached is where it is at so far..

Re: RCLogger
Low budget! Right up my alley. :)
I wish more of these builds were low budget. Now, if there was only a low budget hydraulic pump/cylinder/valve solution.... Even the firgelli actuators are not cheap! I have not tried them yet, but pneumatic cylinders from clippard seem to be about the least expensive option for using hydraulics. Its been a while since I did a search on the forum, but has anyone come up with an affordable solution for this aspect of the hobby? Happy new year to everyone! -Ben |
Re: RCLogger
Hey Joe Thanks for the call the other night. Attached is the Lathe I just bought and you requested a photo.
