Re: Metal Excavator - Magom HRC MG1.4

Well rained tonight so no chance of any more painting :TD

But I did make some progress.

Put tracks back on the base

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-S...2/IMG_2903.JPG

Installed a better slip ring

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-U...2/IMG_2907.JPG

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-i...2/IMG_2908.JPG

And here's the new along side the original slip ring

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-V...2/IMG_2909.JPG

The excavator base attached to the track body.
At this point I decided to add some lock thread to the bolts holding it all together.

Reconnected the motors

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-F...2/IMG_2911.JPG

Quick test of the wiring

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-G...2/IMG_2912.JPG

And thats all for tonight.

Hey, thanks for posting!
Magom has really upped their game since about a year ago.
I've completely forgotten about them.
They have a beefy looking hydraulics kit for the Carson LR634 crawler loader. I've been looking to upgrade the cylinders in my model.
That's a nice excavator! Thanks for sharing.

Agree looking on they Facebook page they have a lot of new toys in the pipeline. And the hydraulics seem to moved over to brushless motors and oil instead of antifreeze. The pump in the excavator kit is jung hr7 so i'm happy with that.

hr7 - what is that in terms of ml/revolution?

Re: Metal Excavator - Magom HRC MG1.4

Not certain. On the Premacon website the hr7 pump States 900ml per minute.

No didn't get chance to do any work on it over the week end. Need some decent weather to carry on painting the boom when that's done I can start to put back together and hook up the hydraulics.

Out of a matter of interest. Did you get all the plastics in the kit too? Windows and interior??

Digger_Bear 08-21-2015 03:01 AM

Re: Metal Excavator - Magom HRC MG1.4

No it was just the metal shell. Can buy the interior separately but I didn't see that until after I ordered. Going to have a go at making my own interior.

Re: Metal Excavator - Magom HRC MG1.4

Tonight been doing more painting.

First I wet and dry the bits to remove some of the roughness etc, then assembled the boom and bits

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-2...2/IMG_2988.JPG

Several more coats of paint

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-G...2/IMG_2992.JPG

Next.

Made a bracket to hold the slip ring in position and help keep pipes and wires out of the slew gears

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-e...2/IMG_2990.JPG

Added servos to the valve unit

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-h...2/IMG_2989.JPG

Pump & valves secured to the base

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-G...2/IMG_2991.JPG

Played around with internal setting out

Re: Metal Excavator - Magom HRC MG1.4

ive got a bit of a problem with mine cause i built it from scratch and i have alot of support brackets going threw the center which took up all of my space. right now i am debating on switching to m5 fittings from m3. my rc4wd valve is all m5 the rest of my stuff is m3.

What controller and reciever are you using as im looking at buying one ?
Is the quality good for being cheap compared to the other models out on the market ?
