how is the pressure regulator suppose to work if fluid bypasses it?? I assume there is a tee fitting
going into the reg from the blue line

Re: china kat

The relief valve only opens when the preset pressure setting is exceeded, or the valves are in neutral (holding position for the cylinders). The picture is correct.
Cheers, Neil.

Re: china kat

Think of it as a pressure release (like a pop off valve) the pump sends pressured oil to valve block AND to the pressure release valve (regulator) when the cylinders are maxed out or no valve is open, or digging pressure is maxed out (like hitting a big rock) then all that pressured oil is diverted to the p.r.v. That is what you can call the regulator, can adjust pressure limit to where you want. I would suggest to get a gauge and see if you are getting enough pressure. Worse case is you would pop a hose off or burst one if pressure is too much. (I would think the hoses would go before the valve seals ?) and think how the cylinders work, only one end has pressure at a time, the other end is just being pushed out and returned to tank. Do you have a gauge? It might be as simple as you just don't have the prv set to enough to pressure and that's why it seems like no power.

Cooper 04-19-2015 09:08 PM

Re: china kat

Oh and what does that say after kat in the above picture? I just can't make it out ? :) lol!! I forgot to mention you can get a gauge from McMaster, forget what the threads are but I drilled mine out and threaded m5 threads for hose fittings. The gauges are just brass fittings with a krimped copper pipe that expands/contracts under pressure. And there is plenty of brass to work with before any risk of getting to the actual expansion plate.

I can you a pic of my setup if you like. With the help of a couple fellow excavator drivers, i was able to figure my plumbing out.

Re: china kat

sounds good to me!!! i need to get mine smoother then coopers cat

Cooper 04-20-2015 05:39 PM

Re: china kat

Well if that's how it is, make sure you connect all hoses from pump directly to cylinders and then use a toggle switch to activate the pump!! Should get the Rams screaming!! Lol!!!!

All kiddin aside, don't worry about getting them smooth, first get your pump and pressure settings how you want. Then use the limiting of your servo throws to (end points) adjust how far they open. That will allow the cylinder to be fed by less volume but same pressure. I forget where I have mine set but everyone will be different. Like boom down was almost 30% if I remember correct. Weight of bucket, stick, boom, and gravity help on the down. Any drifting should be one of two things, valve is not centered or compromised piston seal in cylinder. That was the problem I had with my stick cylinder, the piston came loose on the shaft and oil was bypassing the piston/seal allowing for drifting. But get the valves centered, pressure set, pump speed, prv ect before you try and smooth out movements. And most likely you don't have to have the pump screaming to make pretty good pressure. Really need a pressure gauge. Doesn't have to stay in model but for setting the pressure from time to time.

Hey from the photo the Kat looks like it was a good load on the trailer so much that the trailers rear tires came off the ground

bigford 04-22-2015 05:41 AM

Re: china kat

there are 3 screws per side going from the bed to
the rear deck that loosened up making the
rear axles lift under load...

Re: china kat

well after messing with the cylinders I found them leaking under load
where the end cap screws into the body. I tried to seal them with pipe tape
and tightening them up but they still leak. new cylinder time
the valve body im still not sure about

rc_farmer 05-03-2015 11:59 AM

Re: china kat

Do you have the new cylinders? I have the new ones and have found them to leak as well. I going to HDepot and get some sealant and and maybe some new O-rings. If you tighten the caps, you will also find that the inlets are not centered either....

Re: china kat

I have the new cylinders, They leaked until I used Loctite 542, it seemed to hold.

I tried pipe tape at first, but no luck!!

But remember and have the screw holes lined up before the Loctite sets.

bigford 05-03-2015 03:06 PM

Re: china kat

tightening up the bottom cap puts the bottom inlet at 11:00
i'll try the loctite

bigford 05-03-2015 03:30 PM

Re: china kat

whats the difference between old and new and how do you tell them apart??
mine look like two rubber cups ontop of another. like the wedico piston
no O-rings

I all so tried to hard line my pipes, but there are to many leaks,
I think I will have to go back to plastic.

hey dad
did you add the black screws to the top of the cylinder in the pic?
mine look the same without the screws. that battery is half the
price of the venom 11.1 7500mah i bought

Re: china kat

Hi Bigford,
The black screws are original, that's the way it came.
what do you think of the battery?? should I try it??

Hi Bigford,
Did you get the morepower valve body?
If so what do you think of it!!
I'm think of ordering one as I have a puddle under the valve body every time I run mine.

Re: china kat

HI bigford,

I hope this helps you a little, this come from Page 9 of the China Kat Manual, I got my hand on a copy of the Kat manual in word format from buychina and translated it to english.

Letter to buyers:

1. Power reconcile the remote control and other electronic components should be strictly in accordance with its rated voltage to use, due to the risk of DIY , so the electric reconcile controlled burn in the conversion process, do not be replaced.

2. The hydraulic model is a complex system, electronic system is very easy because of misuse or heat is not good to burn, the Company does not cover electronic systems and remote control for hydraulic pumps, valves, and cylinders and other hydraulic components warranty 6 months. And non- modified, once the demolition of its own. Due to the complexity of the hydraulic system, an initial understanding of the hydraulic friends should be carried out under the guidance of professionals to install, research, multi- query data, more consultation seller, in order to achieve the purpose of proficiency.

Re: china kat

I got a similar reply from the same hydraulic issue with the valve block....roughly stated, "do the complexities of understanding, we suggest professional help, thank you for your understanding." I fired back that i was not complex and that i didn't need professional help, my shrink said so......Buychina is agent-based retailer for the actual manufactural, they have no idea what your talking about and can't provide any technical support.

Re: china kat

Magom hrc has some good stuff and they keep getting better and better! Rams are just 50. USD and they can custom make any size and they have a lot to choose from. The recently upgraded their pumps to a brush less with relief valve and supposedly they have heating probs sobtheyvwent with the Jung pump. I have their newer brush less with pressure relief built in and haven't been able to use it yet but thanks to Freddy gear drive I built a sweet oil cooler out of an old heat sink. Personally I don't like their valves cause they bare so small 3mm nipples. So its going in my brothers high track. I spent the money and bought an RC 4wd valve really wish I haddnt but o well. Magom has been real good about emails and they ship from Spain to my door step here in Oregon in 6 days. RC 4wd is one state love and it takes weeks! So I think if your having problems at least try magom once you'll prob be happy at least with the rams and they come apart now instead of being soldered.

I have a few things in the fire right now so the kat can wait. I just
wanted to see what my options were with these guys!!! I kinda knew
it was go scratch after we get money.. all in all the kat seems like a good machine
and will get up and dig

Re: china kat

Just watched the youtube video.
typical kat, not enough power and radio settings not right.
bin the pump ( if it is a brushed , same as I got) swap out for a rc4wd setup. Valve bank and pump.
change up the radio settings and fit a relief valve. Replace all hoses and your digging.
rams may need some oil seals due to rubbish tolerances.
Not a knocker just answering a question from another forum.
I think you will be digging before I finnish mine.

cheers andy

daddycool75 06-05-2015 12:43 PM

Re: china kat

So I've took Andy's advice, I've order the Valve bank as already had the pump
Now I need to work out the radio settings!!

Any help would be appreciated on how to set the radio!!!

My radio is a turnigy 9x, it has a smartieparts board so I can flash software to it.

cheers
Jamie

Re: china kat

If you are using ER9X firmware with the Turnigy 9X then I can help you.
I can send you the radio settings for the RC4WD setup (with the relief valve)

Re: china kat

That's the settings I had but, I set it up to normal mode again,

I can re flash it to ER 9X again. The settings would be good to have in ER mode.

thanks
Jamie
