Re: Just Another Peterbilt......Half Breed.
Okay, I feel a little dumb, I traded out the mounting screws with some button heads. held the screw head with my fingertip and spun the headlights until they tighten down on the screw. No tools needed in that space.

Re: Just Another Peterbilt......Half Breed.
Good looking Grille .......I want one......You could change screw to hex. and cut the tool to fit....just my 2c

Re: Just Another Peterbilt......Half Breed.
Still unsure if I'm going to be using a Tamiya, Shapeways or Wedico cab I have not bought any of them yet. I was trying to do some test fitting without out a cab which makes no sense at all but anyways... I moved my front axle one mounting hole in the spring pack and set the hood over the wheels. I mounted a stock Tamiya floorboard in the stock location. The hood is up against the floorboard and the grille is just slightly in front of the bumper mount. Can anybody tell me when you cut the hood of a King Hauler cab is the cut and the floorboard flush with each other or does the cab stick out past the floorboard?
I have been trying to use stock bolt hols and not do anymore drilling than necessary, (trying to keep things clean and simple) but looks like stock hole are probably not going to work. http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...psfllayewh.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...pshasidaaa.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps4h5dyifa.jpg |
Re: Just Another Peterbilt......Half Breed.
I know when a friend cut my knight daycab the cab / hood the floor pan was a bout 5-10ish mils inside the cab and the normal bottom mount screw holes were removed fron the front of the wind sheild,
And I just made some rectangle ish peices rounds on the front so the hood doesn move side ways when closed.... Hope these pics can help even though its a knight hauler https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.n...b2b940a23028ba https://scontent-sjc2-1.xx.fbcdn.net...52&oe=5821D43A https://scontent-sjc2-1.xx.fbcdn.net...ff&oe=58575151 Cheers Tracy |

Re: Just Another Peterbilt......Half Breed.
I cut mine on the hood mold line. Then glue tabs to the
Inside. Unless you want it to open. Ihb bumper bracket Lines up under the hood perect fat steer tires rub the Bumper in turns but you can adjust the axle back a little |

the front of the cab floor and the hood line |
Re: Just Another Peterbilt......Half Breed.
I met with Espeefan this weekend, He brought me my front springs that he did some work to and He also brought along a Wedico Peterbilt cab to see how it looked on my chassis. It actually looked pretty good, the Shapeways hood fit the cab very well except for the body line on the cab skirt. A Wedico cab is what I had planned on using all along but the $500 price tag and not being a perfect match had me looking for another option. Enter Russ. Russ and I came to a deal tonight on this here cab and hood;
http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...pseim9elft.jpg Looking forward to seeing it on the chassis and making some progress but for now I will leave you with this... http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...pscfveyxcy.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...psvglfxskj.jpg |

Re: Just Another Peterbilt......Half Breed.
I have been doing a lot of mock up work tonight, things didn't just fit together. Even though I had moved the front axle froward a bunch I still had to move it more by putting together some different front spring shackles. The sleeper is on backwards for now because I have to sand down the shroud around the walk through, it is too tight against the cab. I also need to play around with the front spring ride height. I have a bunch of extra spacers in it for now, I want to lower it some. This truck will not be a lowrider by any means but want it lower than it sits right now.
Don't worry the ugly stock bumper is not staying, just test fitting. The cab has the skirts along the bottom so my stacks won't work without notching them. http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...psk5nczb2o.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...psrk1r0dsr.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...psuqehqnoc.jpg |
Re: Just Another Peterbilt......Half Breed.
Moved things around and was able to get things fitting much better. Moved front bumper ahead slightly, lower ride height and got the sleeper where it is supposed to be. Really liking these body parts.

Re: Just Another Peterbilt......Half Breed.
Here's a piss poor update! The Red Transmission is gone, I went with this transmission instead, wider planetary with 15:1 first gear and 10:1 second gear. The red one was 16:1 and 4:1, I doubt I ever need a 4:1 second gear.
http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...psnw994nkc.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...psoz0a2ipo.jpg http://www.rigidrc.com/shop/1976-thi...igh-torque.jpg For now I added this aluminum bumper and bumper hitch. Still thinking about one of Steve's work truck bumpers but not sure if I can get these meats to clear it. I didn't get the hitch on perfectly straight so more than likely this bumper is not staying anyways. http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...psoe0pynsx.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps0eysi0wn.jpg Waiting on more parts! |
Re: Just Another Peterbilt......Half Breed.
I was really thinking about getting that grill setup but went with just the grill option again. I like the sqaure lights better. But your rig is coming together very nicely I will say.
