Re: D11 New Project
Wow..... another Cat D11! Just look at that shop too! Good grief, you guys have a great place to build anything you wish. Very cool. Tracks look great, as I am sure the rest of the model will be too! Awesome. Keep up the progress. I can never get enough of these builds.

Re: D11 New Project
A couple of hours fitting today gets the first track assembly for the first D11. The drive gear is a spare from my Wedico 345D and is only for the photo.

Re: D11 New Project
The pads and rails look really good, Paul. I'm glad it's you and not me though.lol I didn't think I was ever going to get through with just 82 of them.

Re: D11 New Project
Ok so the end of a public holiday long week end and the second set of track plates are fitted. Only 164 pieces to go:confused::confused:
(9w monighan) sorry I don't know your name the track plates were machined from a 2 foot length of material and parted off by the cnc mill. Thanks to all for your good comments,Paul http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...andigs/d11.jpg |

Re: D11 New Project
Impressive!!! Are you going to build a special trailer to haul them around in:rolleyes::rolleyes:?? Those dozers are going to be a little on the large size:D
|
Re: D11 New Project
Wow. It looks great! Looks like you are building more then one?
|
Re: D11 New Project
I have a wedico float but it wont be up for the job, with the excavator on you can see it flex between the top and bottom deck. So a new trailer will be needed.
Espeefan, yes three in total.:o http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...s/DSC00080.jpg |

Re: D11 New Project
Hi Guys here are a couple of photos of the track rollers, they were done in the CNC Lathe with a bar feeder to make the process faster.
The first photo shows the material in the chuck. Paul:) http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...igs/photo2.jpg http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...igs/photo1.jpg |

Re: D11 New Project
Really starting to look like a dozer now:eek: My only concern with the tracks is that there is no allowance for dirt between the individual track links. Looks like a good place for things to bind up.
|
Re: D11 New Project
Yeah, we will try as it is and if its a big problem will remake the track plates. As it is shown in the last pictures it is not set for running, only a mock up.

Re: D11 New Project
was wondering how you were doing. looks good.

Re: D11 New Project
Another righteous machinist build!

Re: D11 New Project

Re: D11 New Project
I had to take it to the club for show and tell today. I think I may need a bigger trailer, at the moment it comes in at 10kg
http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...gs/toys008.jpg |
Re: D11 New Project
:eek: Now that gives you a view of just how massive these beasts will be! Your trailer might work OK but with some up grades:D I like your idea of new trailer though. Just 1 more thing to build:rolleyes::rolleyes:
