Re: New member. Building D8
Thanks far cry from some of the detailed builds on this forum hope it works as good as some that I have seen here.

Re: New member. Building D8
Nice work, Fired up. What sort of metal working equipment do you have at your disposal? Even if you don't think your dozer is quite as detailed as some others, I think it looks great. Just shows that sometimes you don't necessarily need a lot of fancy CNC equipment to make a nice functional model.
For window glass, you could always go with some clear, thinner acrylic plate, or maybe some polycarbonate / lexan sheet, cut to size. Maybe make some gaskets out of sheet styrene to hold the 'glass' in place (sandwiched between the cab walls) on both sides, or maybe an aluminum window frame on the inside of the cab wall, slightly smaller then the window opening itself, so that the glass can be glued into that resulting window pocket with a clear drying canopy glue for models. |
Re: New member. Building D8
Wow you Build fast and awsome work ..I have been watching from the start and now lookinf forward to some dirt pushing vids ..awsome ..keep up the great work
I was at my local liquidation world and found some very cheap smoked clear totes ..less than an 3/32 thick ..Should work for my grader windowws |
Re: New member. Building D8
Thanks for your encouraging words. All I have far as metal working equipment is a small metal lath. Every thing else I have is for woodworking. Far as glass I picked up some lexan. At a glass shop. May not be pushing much dirt for a while we got 17 inch of snow last week and calling for more this weekend.

Well I do not have a lot of time this time of year my shop turns into santas work shop as I usually have some kind of Christmas gift to build. This year it's a fire place. But I did get a half hour and put together my interior I primed it and it's waiting for finish paint. I hope to see my hydraulics the end of this month. Thanks for looking. And merry Xmas to all.

How wide is the blade on your dozer?? And how big is your driveway.... Looking forward to seeing more pics as you build !!! |
Re: New member. Building D8
Blade is 13''. And drive way to big lol. But would stop me from trying if I had the hydraulics working
|
Re: New member. Building D8
Still waiting Hydr parts. Hope to see them soon. I did receive a sound modular for it to day and some wheels for my low boy. Not sure about starting the paint until l get the hydraulics in and working just in case something needs tweaked. Hard to find time in shop lately with all this snow. I have at lest 3 feet of snow here.

Well as I am waiting let's start a low boy trailer to haul dozer. Pic of mock up. 3 axels or 2. I think 3. Can anyone tell me how well or not well the stock king hauler pulls. Dozer will be around 50lbs and trailer weight witch could be 15-20 lbs. any suggestions.

Had a couple hours here's a start for lowboy. Clean it up some later.
|
Re: New member. Building D8
A bare stock will pull it ok, but at least 3:1 additional gear reduction would be better control. Lock the rearmost axle.
|
Re: New member. Building D8
How do you lock the rear axle the gear reduction is that from rc4x4 ?

Re: New member. Building D8

I am building this project as cheap as I can here's the first axle. Using threaded rod with long nut on each end passing through 1/2 by 1/2 square tubing

Here's anther view of axel. Like I said building this as cheap as I can I am make the wheels out of hockey pucks turning them on my lath. Still thinking of how to build the goose neck.
|
Re: New member. Building D8
Take the axle off the trk, split the plastic case, take the diff apart & there you will see the 3 small bevel gears on the cross. Slide one spider gear off the cross & drop it between the other 2. Reassemble the axle.
Locking the rearmost axle doesn't seem to hamper the steering too much, but does help immensely in pulling in the dirt. Of course 6wd is even better yet & adding Shoe Goo to front 2 diffs is the best for limited slip & great steering control. |

Re: New member. Building D8
I am going to put a new duel speed control in my king haule and was wondering if I could use a 12amp in it or should I go with the 25amp. Any suggestion
Thanks |
Re: New member. Building D8
12amp should be fine. I use a Sabertooth 2x12 in my 850 Kenworth and it only overloads it while in high gear towing a load. The truck is around 100 pounds at that point.

Re: New member. Building D8
Any suggestions on how to hook everything up. Do I need an air relief on tank?
|
Re: New member. Building D8
Looking for a hand in hooking my hydraulics. First question is my valve bank has holes on each end straight through. One is for return to tank and other from pump. Do I put both lines on one end and plug the other end or do I put line from pump on one end and return on other end on opposite sides? Any help would be great thanks Patrick

I had some time to play today. I started to get my hydraulics put together when I tried it I blow a line. I came to the conclusion that I may need a relief valve. I am not able to run motor steady with out it blowing a line. I assume it because of no relief valve.
|
Re: New member. Building D8
Yes you will need a relief valve for sure.
|
Re: New member. Building D8
Ok that's what I thought. With the relief valve pump will be able to run continuously? Thanks for the help.

Re: New member. Building D8
Here's Fumotec's PDF of his track hoe, scroll down to pg17 for the hyd system installation. It's the same system that Premacon assembles to sell as a kit.
http://www.fumotec.de/downloads/koma...tung-klein.pdf Your pressure line on one side of the valve & the pressure relief valve on the direct opposite side. The other two ports should be plumbed back to the oil tank with inline filters. The one returning oil line will be Y'd to the prv. Fumotec uses fuel tanks from helicopters (he is afterall an employee of Vario Helicopters) for oil reservoirs. Your dozer wouldn't need a tank capacity of any more than 250ml or so. That Jung pump is capable of putting out 100bar (1400psi), so when you deadend the cyl stroke & the oil has no where else to go, the pressure line will explode in an instant! I hope you're wearing eye protection when you're messing this stuff?! ;) |
Re: New member. Building D8
Here's a couple of pics of my Norwegian friend Ole Iverson Vario hoe.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...is870014-3.jpg You can see in this pic at the left that the straight fitting is connected to the yellow return line, and the right angle fitting goes to the bottom of the prv. Then the side of the prv has a yellow return line Y'd with the above mentioned return line. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...is870015-3.jpg |
Re: New member. Building D8

Ok that helps a lot. Thank you very much. The pump I ordered was supposed to have a prv included but it's not with it. I emailed them yesterday but haven't heard anything back yet. It looks in the pics that there using rubber fuel line? In the PDF it looks like a line from one of the valve is returning with a filter on it. Not from the end of valve but from side.hope you know what I mean.
Just to be clear. 1-I will have a line from my tank to my pump 2 from pump to valve 3- from valve to tank with filter on one side of valve 4- directly accross from inlet from pump to valve I will put pressure relief valve with pressure gage then back to tank. Why is prv y into return line from valve bank. Does that not back feed? From control vales two lines to cylinders. Sorry for being stupid trying to get it all straight. Thanks again for your help. I am glade I went hydrulic works good. So once I get everything right it should work nicely. |
Re: New member. Building D8
The CAD drawing is a little misleading, that return line is from the end of valve.
tank - pump - tee in pressure gauge - valve - prv - tank the other port on each end are returning to the tank & each line has an inline filter. The prv is Y'd to other returning line b/c where's the oil gonna go when it enters the prv? There's an in port & an out port on the prv. You understand how a prv works, right? A steel ball covers the inlet port, a heavy coil spring applies pressure to steel ball & an adjustable screw tensions up the spring so it takes a certain amount of oil pressure to compress the spring & allow oil past the steel ball. The oil entering the prv goes out a different free flow port. |
Re: New member. Building D8
Yes I understand how the prv works just not clear on piping it. I really appreciate your help you are very knowledgeable. Now to get Prv that I didn't receive. I haven't received a reply yet. This forum rocks.
Thanks again. |

Re: New member. Building D8
Took a little time set hydraulics in dozer and hooked Blade up. Still need to adjust mixing channels. I have the prv set at 20 bar as suggested by Joe. I think he's right that is lots of pressure. Still need to tidy up hoses but it's all coming back out for paint. Here's a vid of working hydraulics in dozer. http://youtu.be/kyJywyNDNdg
Thanks for looking. Patrick. |
Re: New member. Building D8
Pretty good speed up/down, higher pressure might increase it somewhat, but it looks to be close for acting quick enough while pushing. Good work!
Is that a 3s or 4s lipo in the 1st vid? What's the brand name? |
Re: New member. Building D8

This is what I was running pump with I bought it to run track motors I might use the same for pump. Or go to an 18v like Greg uses in his. The speed was good and that was with pump not running at full speed. At around 20 bar like you suggested. I need to look at sizes of 18 v battery as it's very tight for space. Is it ok to run pump at slower speeds? Or should it run at faster speeds when pump is working.
I have striped the dozer down and started to paint it. I have a few things that I need to make for it like the track bed. Windows and some other small details. But it's coming along nicely. Thks for looking and all the help. Patrick |
