This thing is looking great.....can't wait to see it assembled. Does any one remember Puffer optimus primes little yellow friend who was also a cabover kw? In one cartoon episode I remeber for some reason optimus was injured and needed Puffer to haul his trailer back home to the autobots hq.

Re: project motormaster

heres a small update, got my bumper from Russ, and installed the visored bezels from Lynn. Also hand formed the rear fender assembly out of aluminum, ready for paint. The fenders will be black with purple ghosted flames up them.

Wow man this thing is coming along nicely....nice custom fenders, I'm impressed that you got them looking that good out of one piece of aluminum.

Espeefan 04-27-2012 08:35 PM

Re: project motormaster

No kidding. The fenders, as one piece must of took some thinking to get perfect. Pretty darn impressive!

Re: project motormaster

Awesome as always Civic. I am not really qualified to say so, but if there was a way to hide the hinge and still have it functional that would reduce the gap between the cab and bumper and move the axle forward a tiny bit, the front end would look a good bit tighter. I hope you don't mind me saying so, I am a HUGE fan of your work. Just an idea. Still looks mean as **** and really looking forward to seeing this guy parked up beside Prime!

civic83 05-14-2012 03:29 PM

Re: project motormaster

Thanks for the input. I looked for ways to hide more of the hinge and the only 2 ways were to mill out some of the top of the bumper ( which I didn't want to do ) or make the hinge pin and tubes smaller diameter. Option 2 would work but I would be worried about durability, the hinge I built now flexes when it's tipped forward. I may end up putting a thin "skirt" strip along the front edge to take up a bit of the gap. As for moving the axle. I thought about it, maybe when I redo the cab ( this ones only temporary).

I appreciate the comments and suggestions!

SWAGGER 05-14-2012 04:08 PM

Re: project motormaster

Eh what? That cab is only temp? All that work! Wow, makes me wonder what the **** the finished one will be like. What is wrong with the cab that you want to redo it? Looks great to me.
Anyway, keep up the good work buddy.

Re: project motormaster

There's some issues with the filler and the way it's put together that I'm not happy with. I'm going to paint this one for the upcoming car show were displaying at then building a new one at a later date

Re: project motormaster

those are sweet!! looks like the ones im having russ draw up for my truck almost. i like your twist on it looks awesome!!

SWAGGER 05-16-2012 01:35 PM

Re: project motormaster

I hear ya on the cab Civic. You won't ever be happy with it if that is the case, so might as well do it the way you want to do it so that it doesn't drive you crazy every time you look at it! LOL!

As for the air cleaners, they look fantastic to me Civic, however, as you are not building a direct replica of a real truck, you have full artistic license here. So to be honest, whatever way you want them to look is in fact the right way. Are you trying to make this movie accurate or is it just movie inspired? That will answer your question, but I think the air cleaners really suit the truck, they have that aggressive shape and stance. Bang on!

SWAGGER 05-16-2012 01:47 PM

Re: project motormaster

If you do want this to be movie accurate, the 1:1 cleaners are barely wider than the intake pipe and the intake pipes are actually quite close to the exhaust stacks. There is also an additional little spoiler that pushes them up to nearly the same height as the stacks. Pic below for reference.

Saying that though, I think I prefer your look, bigger and badder! Totally up to you anyway Civic, this is your own interpretation of Motormaster so do what you prefer.

Re: project motormaster

Ya I'm not trying to copy any one style, just kind of a mash up of the different versions I've seen around. I'm thinking of installing led lights inside them too so they glow purple through the grill screens

SWAGGER 05-16-2012 01:58 PM

Re: project motormaster

That would be VERY cool, good idea! Maybe one or two inside the cab and in the frame also.

civic83 05-16-2012 02:08 PM

Re: project motormaster

ya im putting a full length purple underglow on the truck, plus all the lights in the bumper, and down both sides of the cab at the bottom will be 3mm purple leds, and the 8 chicken lights on the back will be purple as well. i was thinking about putting one in each top corner of the windsield on the inside as well

SWAGGER 05-16-2012 02:14 PM

Re: project motormaster

Wow, that will be insane Civic. Really looking forward to the finished product.

Re: project motormaster

well, the parts for my trailer have finally arrived! the cutting and forming are quite nice but the surface finish is horrible :( not sure what to do, try cleaning them up and polishing them, or painting it? If I paint it I think ill go black (its silver in the cartoons), but I think black will make all the purple lighting pop, especially the side cutouts where the decepticon logo is.

havnt quite got motormaster driveable yet so ol prime had to step in and do the first test pull of the trailer!

Re: project motormaster

heres a quick one of it behind motormaster on my (very messy) workbench, I think black with purple lighting and stripes will be sharp!

civic83 05-28-2012 12:27 PM

Re: project motormaster

thanks dabears, russisloud made the bumper up for me, and the bezels are from tc1cat. both guys do top notch work!

SWAGGER 05-28-2012 12:32 PM

Re: project motormaster

Now that trailer is serious!! I love it. Looks good and heavy too.

I have to agree with the black and purple, that would look nice and evil, but slick at the same time. Awesome work Civic, always impressive.
