Got he body work almost done, just a few things left before paint tomorrow(painting frame, axles and etc too.) Got a another steering axle installed, it just clears the driveshaft. Also got all the holes drilled for the lights&horns. Getting closer.:D

Got the color layed down tonight, should be shooting the clear tomorrow afternoon. I didn't have the "Inca Gold" I planned to paint it, I had a couple cans of Testors "Fury Orange" laying around, so I used that. |
Re: Project: Lloyd (Tamiya King Hauler)
Got it painted and started to put stuff on, still need to align the headlights.

Re: Project: Lloyd (Tamiya King Hauler)
Decided to use the long frame for a up and coming project. I swapped in the Globe liner frame, really liking the work truck look with the short wheelbase. Might change the paint up to a two tone, green top and white bottom.
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...C/IMG_8868.jpg New Pete emblem. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...C/IMG_8871.jpg Stole the tires off of the Globe liner too. :) http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...C/IMG_8873.jpg Got the new rear bumper mounted. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...C/IMG_8874.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...C/IMG_8875.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...C/IMG_8885.jpg |
Re: Project: Lloyd (Tamiya King Hauler)
Yet again, swapped the frame...this time for a regular king hauler frame, but painted it to match the cab. It will be a slow process but I plan on painting all the frame components.:D
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...r/IMG_0041.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...r/IMG_0042.jpg I was missing a few parts with the mirrors but I got them mounted. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...r/IMG_0044.jpg Picked up some more polished stainless sheets today too. Plan is to put in on the top of the rails for a clean look...I hope. :) http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...r/IMG_0043.jpg Got new RC4WD super wide tires. I really like them, they fit on the stock wheels just fine. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...r/IMG_0054.jpg Top view of the wheel. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...r/IMG_0056.jpg Inside view of the wheel. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...r/IMG_0057.jpg And a few more shots. :) http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...r/IMG_0051.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...r/IMG_0052.jpg |
Re: Project: Lloyd (Tamiya King Hauler)
Those tires are sweet. I really liked the longer frame, large car look, but I'm guessing you've got your reasons! Maybe just spray some metallic black on the fenders and the top of the cab roof, rather then respray? I think that would look pretty sharp.

Re: Project: Lloyd (Tamiya King Hauler)

|
Re: Project: Lloyd (Tamiya King Hauler)
**** you change your mind more then me and thats hard to do! i also like the short wheelbase on that work truck! nice truck
|
Re: Project: Lloyd (Tamiya King Hauler)
Darwin would like you. Definitive proof that evolution works!
No harm in changing your mind, you are just fine tuning the look and style that you want and sometimes that is only figured out by trial and error. Nice work man. |

Re: Project: Lloyd (Tamiya King Hauler)
Not to much to update, just painted some detail pieces. I decided not to run after market steps or tanks, RC fund is running dry. I did order a custom visor, and a RUSSISLOUD headache rack and west coast bumper.:D
Here are my parts drying....garage is too cold....8" of snow here is Seattle! http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...C/IMAG1758.jpg |
Re: Project: Lloyd (Tamiya King Hauler)
Did some more work on the truck today. Painted the hitch plate, dash, steering wheel, seats, shocks and tank brackets. I also added more polished stainless on the top of the frame rails. I also used some strong double sticky tape and mounted the 2S 2500mah lipo underneath the bigger piece next to the cab.

Re: Project: Lloyd (Tamiya King Hauler)
That's looking really nice! I can see your reflection, while checking out the shine in that polished deck plate! Ha ha. Something tells me that motor lived a previous life in a rock crawler....probably a MOA.

Got my drop visor in the mail today from Stepside.
Snow is melting, so I got a chance to take some photos out side today. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...r/IMG_0811.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...r/IMG_0828.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...IMG_0043-1.jpg |

Re: Project: Lloyd (Tamiya King Hauler)
Got my new bumper and head ache rack in the mail. Had the wrong address down on my ebay....but it found my house 3 weeks later.:D
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...r/IMG_1229.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...r/IMG_1232.jpg Well, I thought the head ache rack came polished as it was pictured as on ebay...oh well...time to buy a polishing wheel.:D http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...r/IMG_1233.jpg |
Re: Project: Lloyd (Tamiya King Hauler)
That kinda sucks about the headache rack. they should have mentioned that it was raw and not polished. the new additions look great!
|
Re: Project: Lloyd (Tamiya King Hauler)
Amazing, have no more words...
|
Re: Project: Lloyd (Tamiya King Hauler)
The headache rack will look great on the back of your truck. Not bad. I think that rack will polish up pretty easily. The tool cuts look pretty smooth. I like the visor too.
|
Re: Project: Lloyd (Tamiya King Hauler)
I can't wait to get my visor. Great job. I like the color you chose.
|
Re: Project: Lloyd (Tamiya King Hauler)
Truck looked great in person Justin, thanks for letting me take the wheel for a bit.
