Re: Mack R model ten wheeler dump
Started painting it today..
Black frame ,Mack green cab and hood with black fenders, dark gray box, Need to put one more coat of green on the hood and then I will mask off the fenders to get a clean edge. Next issue will be getting rid of these white budds and put on some real work truck wheels...Spokes! http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f2...ps6c6f4b70.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f2...psbf2372ab.jpg |

Re: Mack R model ten wheeler dump

Re: Mack R model ten wheeler dump
Thanks guys....
The aluminum bar stock under the box are 20mm tall by 7mm?(same width of stock frame rail) I did not make this cab. I bought it off eBay. It's a shapeways cab and hood. Here is a pic of the progress tonight, http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f2...psde8bbd55.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f2...ps0071701a.jpg |

Re: Mack R model ten wheeler dump
Added a few more things today... New tread off road tires for the rears, I locked the forward tandem so now both are locked in full time... It still turns good surprisingly. Added my spare set of exclusive rc Mack mud flaps. Made the glass for the cab, installed mirrors visor and front radiator guard. New side boards for the box.
I Hauled some salt and snow with it and it does pretty good thru snow. Need to put some chains on the box for spreading salt better. http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f2...psbc46c153.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f2...ps027d3d7c.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f2...ps6b0f1efe.jpg |

Re: Mack R model ten wheeler dump
Been busy working but had some time to help design some 3D spoke wheels. These are a preliminary test design. Few more adjustments and they will be a boot on and go wheel. Also We were unsure of the strength with 3D plastic....so far so good. They are strong and plenty fine for normal use...time will tell how they hold up in off road use....they have dimples where the wheel lugs go and you can drill and tap for a 2mm or smaller stud/nut... Thinking we may make a plug cap to hide the nut or just use a chrome snap cap for a hub cover. It really will look the part when done. rears will be next.
I know most people like aluminum budds but this is kind cool to have old school wheel options. Also got some new MACK emblems Installed http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f2...ps59c6a86b.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f2...pseaba1e2c.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f2...ps472b12f7.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f2...ps8d09bdb0.jpg |

Re: Mack R model ten wheeler dump
Thumbs up brings back to many memories, of the 70's when I was learning to run a dump truck, and the reason I went over the road to get away from them...LOL If you are a big guy they were not fun to drive...

Re: Mack R model ten wheeler dump
I got to thank Lmackattach for letting me drive this at the RT&C Mid-west spring meet at Eli feild last weekend. Not only does this truck look good it is fun to drive, goes through anything, the bed speed is great, it"ll haul what ever you put in it, 2 hours disappeared off the clock just having fun with it! However you really shouldn't let a first time loader driver (RC anyway) load it, I almost ripped the cab off with the bucket :o which is when I told them to take the radio away from me :(.

Re: Mack R model ten wheeler dump
I have a question do any of you guys think it is possible to make a single axle dump ,with a locked axle . Thanks in advance Mike
|
Re: Mack R model ten wheeler dump
grind out under the door sills and cave in the roof add all around rust
and that would be an exact replica of the r model I use to drive:jaw: |
Re: Mack R model ten wheeler dump
being 3D printed, did you have to sand it down to get rid of the stepping look from the printer?
