Re: Another KAT on the prowl
i put plastic bushing at many of the metal-on-metal moving parts. The table rotates good and all the movements seems to be moving smoothly. I didn't run the pump full open on the test setup cause i didn't clamp the hoses, but everything seem to hold up and no leaks. I now have to rearrange some of the electronics so everything fits. Then its time to break everything down and prime and paint.

Hey rob do you do laundry? In all your builds they seem to end up on the washer and dryer.

Well, while working on the KAT, I let Jeanie out the bottle this afternoon....pink, white, gray....pretty colors.....looked like crayola exploded in the room....had a spare ECS on the shelf though..

Looks awesome. Well done.

Re: Another KAT on the prowl
Really good to see a model of a big U.S. hydraulic hoe after all the jap machines that are so common. I was at a show a while back and they had a big Insley hydraulic hoe with an 8V92 in it running, really cool machine to watch running. Who's gonna build the big Northwest 100DH in 1/16?

Re: Another KAT on the prowl
Thanks guys for the kind words. I wanted to do something different and i really like the Linkbelt colors too. The guys at the local LBX dealership helped me out with some paint....Big-Ups to them:):). I took the EXC by their office a couple days ago and they couldn't believe this actually ran off mini hydraulics.

Re: Another KAT on the prowl
hey rob
i got my more power valve and 2 of the 3 servos are glitching! what mini servo did you use? looks great in link belt colors |
Re: Another KAT on the prowl
i hope you have better luck with them, the two sets i had didn't have a center. i am using the valves from Magom.....great holding power. they don't sink at all. They servo that come with them are no good, i tried the Hi-tech mg 85 i believe and they worked good, no glitching.

Re: Another KAT on the prowl
Wow man!!! What a build, great job on everything I especially liked the hard lines and body. Kinda scares me about buying one, and having to do all those upgrades I don't think I'd have the patients
|
Re: Another KAT on the prowl
Imo of the KAT machine, one would be better off buying the bare machine w/o hydraulics. You will want to upgrade them so don't pay the extra money for it. I had new bottom and top plates cut. The aluminium that comes with it is very soft and and thin.....which makes it hard to tap. To make it more scale like requires quite a bit of upgrading. I will figure a total for the finished model excluding the R&D parts that are scattered across the room.

Re: Another KAT on the prowl
First pics of it outside in the dirt and video coming soon, whenever it finishes uploading to PB.
