had a bit of playtime, have slowed the revs on the signal reversing card, sounds a little better, not revving its head off.

Great Equipment you have there!! I am just starting, so far i have the excavator like yours and the armageddon dump and my Loader like yours is on it's way. Think I will pull it apart and do the diff's right away. Is that Big dump truck manufactured by you or another outfit?

andyathome 10-13-2014 11:46 PM

Re: JBC limited NZ

thanks, takes a while to get a fleet together.
and yes pull the axels and fit shims, also make sure all the bearings are there, mine had the bearings in the axel tube missing, standard tamyia bearing will do the job.
the dump truck , if your talking about the yellow rock truck, I scratch built it from scrap metal I rescued from the rubbish bin, I think there is a post on here under MY JUNK ROCK BUILD, has a hydraulic tipper and electric steering.
need to get some small rams, or make some when time allows for the steering.

heres a quick video of a bit of axel bashing on the loader, still going strong, must be 20 plus batteries and still no problems, cant say the same for the speaker connections, must be shorting on diff lock steel cable.
will fix on next days off.

forgot to ask did you build that dozer as well?

andyathome 10-14-2014 12:06 AM

Re: JBC limited NZ

I borrowed a few small bits from work, brass shims 1.5 mm thick and super glued two pieces top and bottom in the main diff gear bearing housings , makes a nice sung fit, no way the bearings are going to move around now.
I measured the bearings and then the housing and found about 2.5mm of difference!
not exactly a precision casting, but all good now.

Hey it don't look like junk to me, but I get what your saying. I need to just sit down and make some builds instead of buying all the time. Thanks Andy, I will keep in touch.

no worries, I like to build most of my stuff but don't as yet have the skills or patience to do the fine detail some of the guys do on this forum.

Now a vacuam truck could come in handy.
As for playing inside. Punishable by death or so ive been told.
we bought a new house about a year ago. Wife got itchy feet I said big shed and that was my main want.
a week later she found a house with 4 acres of land and huge 4 bay shed .
go to the auction and we are the only bidders.
next minute we are moving.
I will suggest tha vacuam truck idea to help out with the house work. If you dont hear from me again you will know what happened.

Re: JBC limited NZ

also need to point out that there is another use for the shed,
you cant just play with RC consturction modles all day, belive me Ive tried.
sometimes you need to make things. was lucky enough to get these two toys at a really good price, next to them is my paint box. have fitted a small fan heater at the bottom and cut a slot at top of box to let the heat out. makes painting all year round possible. welders and grinders on other side of shed so lathe and mill dont get covered in unwanted dust.
I plan one day to convert the mill into a CNC set up as ive seen it done on the net , looks easy enough but a little costly at the moment.

Cool build's, Like the truck alot!! I have a mig welder would it still work on this thin of metal sheeting?

David

andyathome 10-14-2014 11:27 PM

Re: JBC limited NZ

Thanks. Yeh a mig will work. Turn if way down.
personaly I used my mig on the thin stuff , just makes for a lot less cleaning up after welding.
The only thin part on the truck is the tipper so if you ask an engineering firm to weld it up for you it shouldnt cost too much.
the cab is made of rubbish plastic , super glue and a lot of filler.

after numerious requests for how the excavator has been wired for sound.
this is the sound modual I got from eagle machienery of aliexpress, the connections arent how I ended up running it in the excavator, I also fitted a signal reversing lead on the 4th valve so revs picked up when the sticks were moved. I will take a few photos on my days off to show which channels i used on the reciver

Re: JBC limited NZ

sorry in previous post I ment to say my tig welder to do the thinner metal.

andyathome 10-15-2014 02:45 AM

Re: JBC limited NZ

how I installed my eagle mach sound card.

photo 1 ;
channel 6 track motor use a y connector and put track motor cable and the orange lead to sound card.

http://i1322.photobucket.com/albums/...ps929efe7f.jpg

photo 2;
channel 7 4th valve .put signal reversing connector into channel 7, put white lead for sound card into one of the output leads and 4th valve into the other.

http://i1322.photobucket.com/albums/...ps680ab9b3.jpg

at the front of the excavator there is a strip connector to supply the esc,s . I connected the power cables for the sound card into one these.

mine didn't work how I wanted ( when stick moved the revs decreased) on the signal reversing lead there is a small pot ( photo 3) adjust left or right to change out put signal, once done the revs will increase with stick movement.

http://i1322.photobucket.com/albums/...ps680ab9b3.jpg

I don't know ( haven't tried) if it matters which lead you use that comes out of signal reverser . but I do know if the signal is reversed to the 4th valve when you try to start the pump it will stall( not good swap wires around or try adjusting the pot 180 degrees)
a bit of guess work and it works perfect.

last picture job done.

hope this helps.

Thanks for the great info and pics Andy
I'd like to get sound for mine but I see I would have to use a different battery. My 8400 ma fills that spot:eek:
Gives me a great size perspective of the unit. Thanks again for posting. :)

Re: JBC limited NZ

cheers Mario, an 8400 battery holly cow it must be huge , how long is the run time on it.
im getting about an hour on the 6500 that came with the excavator.

just a quick up date on the loader, diffs are working great , have been thrashing them by pushing and digging way to bigger loads and also trying to push the dirt box in high and low gears . the wheels just spin and loose traction , no bad noise from either diff, pulled rear diff and inspected yesterday ( all good) , only did this because my rear drive shaft fell out. this wasn't a problem with the model it was a problem with the twit that put it back together last time and didn't do up BOTH grub screws!!! it would appear I only did up one of them.
I think I need someone to check my work LOL.
having read a few posts about the loader issues I can see why some people are angry , but having said that now that mine is sorted I am more than happy with it.
enough talk im off to the shed for some play time.
will post a video today of the new pit and some loader bashing, after I do the lights in the mrs shed , and a few other jobs she wants done.
how is it on my days off ive got more jobs to do than I have to do at work?

cheers andy

Re: JBC limited NZ

I pulled the old dozer off the shelf for a bit of playtime, it was the founding member of JBC and is really showing its age.
forgot how slow the blade rams were so they will be swapped for faster ones.
will make a whole new base and install tensioners for the tracks, also will nut and bolt track pads as pop rivets don't last.
will also fit 2 more rams so I can tilt the blade, then a paint job.

any way heres a quick video of how bad it is.

Re: JBC limited NZ

ok, so the king hauler finally has a reduction box, 4:1 fitted.
problem was when hauling a heavy load I had no steering, it was suggested that I make a dolly trailer, had a spare flat deck doing nothing .
end result after 40 minutes is an average looking dolly, but I have steering.
will clean it up and paint, I can now haul the excavator and loader no worries.

sorry about the photo , its late and dark here.

Re: JBC limited NZ

Andy,

A couple of suggestions...
- move the fifth wheel further forward, possibly just before the middle axle.... It will require a long neck on the trailer or dolly, but will ensure more weight is over the front axle.
- on the dolly, make sure you are transferring some weight to the truck, otherwise traction will be a problem..

Finally is the reduction box behind the main box, or between the motor and the gearbox?

Cheers,
Ap

Re: JBC limited NZ

its been a busy night, decided I didn't like the dolly so with a bit of hacking and painting I have a result Im happy with.
truck pulls great and no more issues with under steer, just got to figure out how to revere the thing.

i got a PMD reduction box fitted to the back of the standard tamyia gear box

andyathome 10-29-2014 07:38 PM

Re: JBC limited NZ

finished the dolly and had a test drive, have mounted a box above hitch so if I need to I can add some weights to get extra traction, will swap tamyia tyres for my off road ( and softer ) tyres once I make some foam inserts.

as it is with the dozer on the lowboy it tries to lift the front wheels , so will be interesting with some good tyres.

my regular loader driver Bob crashed into the rock truck!!!!!
I had to teach him a lesson , so half a day doing a new job will give him a bit of time to think about a few things.

also fried the vibrator motor on the screening plant, lack of maintenance and motor moved and jammed on rotating weight.

saw a small cloud of smoke and then that familiar smell, toast!!

Hey Andy, is that skid steer in the little hill in the background a Bruder? Is it a good functioning Model? I also wanted to get your opinion as well as other's , I see you have a 4 axle truck pulling your Lowboy, very cool. I Have a 8x8 MAN Trackter dump, the one they sell on RC4WD, was wondering, how do you think it would work if I used a Dolly and the same trailer as yours behind it?

andyathome 10-30-2014 10:04 PM

Re: JBC limited NZ

hi, yes its a bruder skidsteer , but as yet unconverted. one day.
as for the truck you will need weight on truck to tow a good weight, are you talking about removing the tipper and fitting a 5th wheel.
I have a tow hitch at rear of the semi , I have a bruber dolly so I put that in the hitch, and attacted my dolly and trailer combo with dozer on trailer just to see what happened..... nothing really lots of wheel spin. so what everyone has told me is you need weight over 5th wheel to get traction is 100% correct.
8x8 I think it should work, but to be sure post in the big rig section .there are guys who will know for sure.

cheers andy

Andy, I am leaving the dump but, want to put a pintal hook on it, with dolly and trailer behind, may be to much rear end weight? Does your truck pull good off road?

andyathome 10-30-2014 10:44 PM

Re: JBC limited NZ

hi david, theres only one way to find out if it will be too heavy.
My truck pulls ok but standard tamyia tyres are only tempoary , I have a full set of off road tyres to fit just need some foams as they are too soft with all the weight and side walls colapse.
you could load up truck with dirt , that will give you better pulling traction.

andyathome 11-07-2014 05:54 PM

Re: JBC limited NZ

sounds fitted to king hauler, got the sound setup from eagle machinery .
heres a quick video of the truck pulling dozer.
off road tyres are needed as too much wheel spin in the gravel.
