Lovin' every aspect of this build! Wow! Incredible work, Ken. Keep it up. I'm thinking this is build of the month worthy. Everything is so well laid out and clean. The suspension, and it's associated hardware, looks awesome.

Interesting and different build. A real heavy duty rig! What's the turing radius? :)

I appreciate everyone's comments. Egronvold, the turning radius is 32" (81 cm) but the clearance radius - actual space required to turn the truck the around - is 39" (1 m).

Nice work Ken ..The way its designed im sure you will be able to go through some very rough terain and with the wide stance less likeley to flop over when dumping ..IH sure came up with some very uniquie equipment ..Big fan of your truck

Got any paint on it yet Ken?

Re: IH 350B Payhauler Truck

No paint or recent updates. It's summer, so work time is long and personal time short, plus impending wedding for eldest son. Anyway, should be at Indy in August; will bring what I have then.

Hey Ken, Hoping this will stir the pot and help motivate you...Found these in Dawson City, Yukon a couple weeks back...All had 16v71 Detroits in them:D...I had never seen one of these in person so it was really cool to walk around it and check it out. I have more pictures but didn't want to load up your thread without permission...

Nice pictures, Reg! These are some of the cooler dump trucks I've ever seen. Thanks for posting the photos. I've never seen a real one up close either.

RCP57 - Reg - thanks for posting the pics. Haven't seen such well maintained units for quite a while - like maybe 20 years! It's interesting how little items get added to machines once in the field. Notice the driver's side pic, there are a couple of steps added behind the door, on the fender - probably to step around behind the cab. Also, the plate in front of the door, next to the recessed steps - probably to go from the cab to the front for maintenance checks? Anyway, I appreciate the pics. Yes, being at Indy helped me pump up the enthusiasm. I've already been working on the pivot mounts and pattern for the bed.

Thanks to all for the kind words.

And a rope from the hood to the door hinge so the person walking on the new steps as a grasp. I like that.

Re: IH 350B Payhauler Truck

Then came the bed pivots. Learned that super-glue will work as a clamp if you take it easy on feedrates. Great for odd shapes. Glued four pieces of brass together, milled, then heated with a small torch to release them. Then glued pairs to a plate, milled the sides, heated, and had my brackets done. Cut tubing and all-thread as a fixture while soldering brackets to mounting plate. Added pins with bolted tabs.

Added front towing bracket, hydraulic sight gauge (non-operating) and made pattern for bed.http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/a...psb80a7ec7.jpg http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/a...pseddba4e4.jpg http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps43b5cead.jpg http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps87f17593.jpg http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps581abf2a.jpg
