Re: Mack M75SX
Hope everything lines up ok in there Steve. That's definitely a strong setup if the pinion holds up. Do you have a link to the gears you are using?
|
Re: Mack M75SX
Steve , here's the pinion http://store.rc4wd.com/HPI-Racing-Be...1-_p_1377.html
the rest I got off ebay same as what I have in the pan only I made the axle housing for the truck . Here's a listing http://cgi.ebay.com/HPI-Savage-X-25-...item2eb3d51c69 Oh yes everything lines up :D thank gawd  I didn't want to do it all over  I still have to make the axle shafts . I may take the cups off the diffs and run the axle shaft right in . This what the cups look like http://cgi.ebay.com/HPI-86864-Differ...#ht_4874wt_872 they go into the spool and you slide a pin through the end then the bevel gear goes over top . mike , your looking at the rear axle components . axle housing done on the lathe thanks Clyde :) |
Re: Mack M75SX

Re: Mack M75SX
Looks good! I've been following along partly because I don't know much about Mack off-highway trucks and because it's so different.
I was curious how the tandem axles would be driven. Not trying to be nit-picky, but is this the way the axles will be oriented when they go in the truck? If I'm looking at them the way I think I am they may wind up with one spinning forward and the other backwards unless one is flipped upside down. The front axle ring gear will reverse the rotation of the jackshaft. You may already have that taken into account but I would hate to see it happen. Years ago, a couple guys from my area built a monster truck from surplus army truck parts and when they were ready to take it for a drive the axles turned opposite! I'm not sure if they ever got it driveable. Quote:

Re: Mack M75SX
Thanks Guys :)
Jared , yes , when put together the rear rear will be flipped . I guess I could have went into more detail and made a power divider like the real trucks . IHSteve |
Re: Mack M75SX
WOW!!! your workmanship just seems to be never ending. :):) Can't wait to see it under power.

Re: Mack M75SX
Steve, you gonna have to give a shop class one day with all this great stuff you come up with....what's that thing they say about neccessity being a "mother"

Rob , I do not think you want to take my shop class :p OSHA would prohibit it  plus you'll have to wash your ears afterwards a lot of this is the main music in the shop some days , ###&&($%@!)##%%@ OH , " neccessity is the mother of invention " is on my shop door :p just looked at another lathe today  I wasn't going to  but curiosity never really killed the cat , the handle fit perfectly :D now the fun part trying to get it :( |

Re: Mack M75SX
Steve. You knocked that one, right out of the park, and there must have been quite a pile of chips on the floor. The frame on this truck looks like it will be rock solid and heavy duty. :D

Re: Mack M75SX
Looking good!! And everyone thinks that running a CNC mill or lathe is just push the go button and everything comes out OK :rolleyes: Slowing down the feedrate is not that bad of a thing to do. Recommended feeds and speeds are not all what they are cracked up to be!!!

walking beams ;)
http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...r/PIC_1366.jpg http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...r/PIC_1361.jpg now these get chucked up in the lathe to turn the ends where the arch stops . there's a pic of it I just got to figure how to get it on here  thanks for looking :) |
Re: Mack M75SX
Hey Steve, are you going to chuck the walking beam's in your 4 jaw chuck? or use a dead center and lathe dog? Center drilling for the tail stock(live center) look's like fun.
Later, Neil#2 aka doodlebug. |
Re: Mack M75SX
