Nice progress! I really like the trailer frame rails. Your screw drive should work well. You drew up some great prints. I appreciate the attention to to detail. I find myself sketching ideas just like that, all of the time, while work on things for my own models. One of these I'm going to try my hand at some brass work. You make it look so easy!

It is easy;)
give it a go!

I had thought of it,but it seems this screw drive will be the easiest way of doing it and I have already taken way to long to get to where im at on this build as is.
As for other people using scissor lifts, sure they have I think their is even a company producing such an item, but I cant remember the name??

I wish I had an update for you guys, but between going into work early everyday and my son having snowdays left and right I havent had any time for this truck...
I hope to work on it some this weekend.. thanks for the complement and the interest..

Yes work and children will do that. For me it's only work and that's hard enough if I had kids I don't know what I would do. What do you use to do your brass work soldering wise?

I use a combo of mapp gas torch and a stainglass iron and the solder I use is a product from tractor supply that is a heavy duty solder for dissimilar metals. I also use silver solder for most of the steel..

me to .. i have a good bit more small stuff to add to the outside and I also have to pick up some slow drying glue for the laminated roof and it will be time to paint it. Im going to be going for a weathered look but their will be just a little rust as these truck cabs were aluminum..

Re: dodge L 1000

thanks for the encouraging words! what paints do you guys use? and do you all use airbrush or just spray cans? im thinking airbrush will be the way to go as the spray cans seem to make the paint to thick..

Re: dodge L 1000

well went fishing and it sucked...... wish i would have remembered to take home the cab......well about 2 in the morning I decided to tear down the chassis for paint and to fix the front axle placement. did that and now im having a heck of a time figuring out where to put the steering servo...I will post some pics of the cab and the chassis tear down later on..

Heres what I have been dealing with..
cut this plat up yesterday, but not sure where to go from here? but I will make something to cover up the servos so they dont look so intrusive.
http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...rigs/005-1.jpg

got to come up with a way to go from here to here,, I have a steering block thingy from a tamiya big rig that I can get intheir as well..just have to make it all work together..
http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...rigs/006-2.jpg

And heres the paint before clear coat. Its going to look alot better once cleared and if it doesnt I will just go for the weathered look like I was going to do in the first place.
http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...rigs/001-6.jpg

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...rigs/002-6.jpg

also got the front axle placement all figured out! and it was well worth the effort.
