Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
Why don't you run a Futaba F-14, or a Futaba F-16. You could even step up to their computer radios like the Futaba FX-20 or the FX-30. They are pricey but they are nice. That or you could go with Brixl radios which are extremely expensive. Those would all work perfectly for your application.

Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
I found this company the other day as well. Looks like a fairly decent transmitter for not to bad a price (at least compared to the Brixl). Supposed to have telemetry feedback as well.

Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
Dan i got a lot of money in these radios and the 10 channel will work just got to lear how to run it. Ed
|
Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
Yes sir Jeff $868.90 US might go all the way and buy the 1150 dollar one that has 22 channels I think and you can add modulars to expand it. Ed
|
Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
Been trying to read up on them, but to me it looks like the MC-19t is 12 channel and the MX-22IFS is also 12 channel, just a diff layout and such, the MC-19t seemed to be a bit modular for adding other switches and such.
I can't be sure about it though, haven't read all of it yet and it's native in German and some of the translation is odd sounding. If you get one, please be sure and give a thorough review on here so we know more what it is and is capable of. |
Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
Finally got the radio to work today. I took the excavator out and found out it will dig unbroken ground. I would have taken a video but no one to run the camera. I only had a small 12 volt battery on it one they sent me to run the dozer and wheel loader. I ordered some 6.5 bullet connectors today so I can hook the lipo's up to it. Ed

Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
thats good to hear ED see those who wait and have paitents will prevail glad to hear you got some run time on it
|
Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
Yes I did get some run time on it not much. After running it I realized that my sticks don't self center but this winter I will send it back to airtronics and have then put the springs and arms to make it self center and reprogram it for that. I also need some better batteries so I got some 6.5 bullet connectors coming for the lipo batteries i got. Ed

Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
Well Joe the money supply is getting weak right now. I guess it is a poor excuse but it the best I have. If my wife feels better in the next few days I will get her to run the camera, that is the best I can do I am trying to get the box for the dump trailer done. Ed

Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
22 channel radio how mant sticks does it have?
|
Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
I know the F 14 and 16 you can have 3 sticks on them. Ed
|
Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
can't wait to see more pictures of your equipment in action.
|
Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
Well I tried to get a video today but the camera and the computer aren't cooperating. Ed
|
Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
Well today I had to send the radio to Airtronics to have the sticks self centering and to reprogram it. I also called Vario in Germany because I am getting a loud squeal out of the pump motor sounds like a bearing but Frank said to change the speed of the motor I did on the 3 way switch and it still does it just not as loud. If I shut it off for a minute or two and turn it back on the squeal is gone for a while and comes back. Like I said if it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have any. Ed
|
Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
Plenty of fluid in the tank?? If the tank got low (or the suction hose is at or above the fluid level) the pump would cavitate and that sounds nasty and ruins the pump as well. If the tank is good on level then I would suspect a bearing in the pump.
|
Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
The noise sounds like it coming from the motor not the pump. What is confusing to me is you shut it off and start it up and it will run for a while before it starts to squeal again. I guess I will have to pull it apart and run one at a time and see what happens. I will have a video in a few days my Mac man told me I had the wrong cable but he is going to put it on you tube for my nothings spectacular but I was digging were waste management truck turn around to pick up a container and it it packed run a crush and tar so it was hard digging and of course if I had self centering sticks it would have been easier to operate but I tried. Ed

Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
http://www.youtube.com/user/JammerEd2 Here is a video not very good but you can here the squeal at times and my operating skills aren't very good with out self centering. The ground was hard and packed a container truck pick up there a couple of times a week so the ground is hard it is run a crush and black top but I wanted to see what it would do. Ed

Larry thank you very much. Ed

Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
It's about time you made a video Ed, lol it looks good, bring it to St louis and I'll show you to run that thing, I mean watch you run it.lol

Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
Looks really good. You need some more time behind the sticks though I can see (and spring centering).
Just my observations from running full size machines (not often but a few times), would think it translates over into scale RC, and your not the only one I've seen run an RC one like that. Watch this vid and notice how most of the digging does not occur at the full reach of the machine, it's hard work way out there. Also notice how most of the digging is carried out by the stick movement not the bucket. The bucket is used to adjust the tooth angle along the path you are pushing the bucket with the stick and boom. When you figure out the sweet spot to run it, it will take alot of the load off the machine and be easier to get full buckets nearly everytime. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guM8N...eature=related Nonetheless though, very nice work! Should be a very fun toy. |
Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
PUGS thanks for the video and the info but the maine problem was I had to keep centering the stick but now I have the radio fixed to self center that is going to help immensely. Ed

Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
Jammer-that model looks really powerful! Just keep practicing and soon you will be as smooth as a "babies bottom"!
|
Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
Modelman thank you very much. Can't play now got a sick wife her back is out so I'm it if you know what I mean. Ed

Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
Looking good Ed. Sounds and looks like you are slowly shaking all the little bugs out of this machine. I'm sure it's been frustrating finally getting to this point, bt i'm sure it'll be a digging son of a gun with some more stick time. Keep that dipper at a steeper angle, and you'll have more power and better control. Watch a good operator, and you'll never see the tracks move an inch, unless their tramming.

Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
Thanks a lot Rick good to hear from you. Ed

Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
Ed, hows the 8-ch working for ya?
|
Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
Rob I have the 10 channel on the excavator and I finally have it working good, thanks for asking. I am going to use the 8 channel on the dozer and the loader. Ed:)

Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator

Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
Looks good Ed but I think you need a bigger sand box :p
IHSteve |
Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
Good video Ed, your gettimg a little stick time in while your waiting on parts anyway. You'll be laying a new water or sewer line to your place here soon, with that thing.
|
Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
Joe thanks a lot that was very wet and heavy sand I was digging it does have some power I think it set right now around 20 bars. Steve yes a bigger box would help could not get close to were I wanted to to dig but still dug up some soil that was under the sand. I think I will put some weight in the counter weight. Ed

Strve I guess I could will need help with loading and unloading. I take it your going. Do they have a place to charge batteries? Ed
|
Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
ed yes there is electric and I believe you can get help to unload and load .

Re: 1/12 Scale Excavator
There's a forklift at our disposal for unloading. I have to have a forklift for my machine too. Everything is there we'll need.
