Another thing to learn,, I don't know if I have the correct glue. If not I'll get some. After seeing ? The guy with the excavator, he made his tanks with acrylic and that's pretty cool. Thought I would give that a try. |
Re: Great Dane excavating co.
RW, the new homestead looks very Stately! The welding looks great, I'm with Joe I need arm rests to steady myself and the eye sight is not conducive to good welds, I can run a bead but it usally isn't where it belongs. Can't see a thing when I strike an arc. Keep up the good work!

Re: Great Dane excavating co.
hey rw can you get your paws on M.E.K in pa?? that will bond your plexi parts together
N.Y. banned the sale of mek here due to kids huffing it |
Re: Great Dane excavating co.
Congrats on the house , now you can build a quarry , town , transship warehouse , railroad transfer etc etc . Mike

Re: Great Dane excavating co.
Congratulation Cooper ! To your new Home / farm / RC park and you passed the alum. weld class. As far as i can see you got the hang of it...
Carry on please ! |

Well I made the tank. I had some adhesive, several different kinds and did a test earlier today to see what one worked on acrylic and found one I have works. Takes up to 72 hours to cure. I have a small air pump to help ventilate inside. Hopefully speeds up set up and cure time. |

What a feeling it is when " it clicked and everything I had been reading made sense " The brain can go in recover mode and it just works.......nothing can stop you just going going.

Re: Great Dane excavating co.
That sure looks like a nice place. I always admire those big stone farm houses while traveling East.
Changing the subject; where did you get that fancy welding table? |
Re: Great Dane excavating co.
http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...psg3hinu5d.jpg
Tank will be housed in side fuel tank Steve, thanks on the new homestead. Not much to do inside but a lot of small things needing repair on outside structures. The table was from certi-flat or tabandslot dot com. They later cut everything very precise and all you do is clamp and weld it together. I don't like to push products but these guys make a pretty darn good product and its cheep. Like $300 compared to strong hand tables that are $3000. Accepts 5/8" clamp tools. They have all kinds and sizes. I'll look up the website later. It's something like tabnslot or tabandslot dot com. The way it's cut and put together the top comes out being +\- a couple thousands. Not bad for a inexpensive table. Also has lockable casters. |
Re: Great Dane excavating co.
That's a really good idea making it clear to see the fluid level. You have a beautiful home Cooper congratulations! :)

I got the idea of the clear tank from paolo, he is building an excavator and as long as the one I made doesn't leak I'll be happy!! |
Re: Great Dane excavating co.
The only thing I would add is another outlet higher up in tank where you want the fluid level to be when it's full. Leave enough room for expansion when the oil gets warm and run the hose out the bottom of the Aluminum tank
Great looking ranch you got there but I don't see a dog house outside yet!!! Rob |

Re: Great Dane excavating co.
Whoohooo!!! That's a big box!!!!
Finally got around to using the tig welder on steel. Wow a lot easier than aluminum!!! I guess I'm backwards because I learned how to tig weld aluminum first then steel. Definitely gonna be a very useful tool for building with sheet metal. These were the first parts I got to tig weld, mild steel onto stainless shafts. http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...psglfwm7fs.jpg http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...pstugxhdna.jpg This is the start of the new garage/shop/ super-mancave!!!! http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2cg2uoiv.jpg Found a use for the one side tank, housing the prv and gauge. Not needing to access it too often. All the holes in cover will have screws but the whole box slips off with only a couple screws. http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...psrdcbabud.jpg http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...pss40fif6q.jpg And started running hydro lines. Working on hooking up electronics to get a first test run in tranny and hydro cylinders. http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...psntnabstw.jpg |

Re: Great Dane excavating co.
She was the first thing that caught my eye in the other group of photos. Have any of that pink silicone left?;)
Cold looking shop but I know it won't stay that way. I'm jealous of the space and happy for you now that you finally have it! |
Re: Great Dane excavating co.
Thanks reg! Humm, I may make some silicone,,, uh more tires,,,, lol!!! Garage is second thing on list of things to do. First is putting up a fence so my lazy but doesn't have to get the golf cart out to take the dogs for a walk ;). Garage is next. That's more important (for me). Lots of stuff to do. Only thing I'm not going to do is the garage doors. Going to get the professionals to do that. Siding, drywall, insulation, concrete, wire electrical, Windows, gas line from house, ,,, lots to do!! Hopefully work this summer will be slow and I can get that done fast!!!
Working on electrical hookups on dump truck now. And also have to relearn radio programming. Initially I thought I would have solder connections done tonight and test run, forgot about radio stuff, hopefully I have a spare receiver around. Hopefully have a test video in the next couple days. |
Re: Great Dane excavating co.
Yes it is muuuch easier tigging steel, some instances you can melt two pieces together without filler rod.
Congrats on the shop space! spray foam? putting up any interior walls so you don't have heat entire building during the winter? 785 looking fabulous too, some very innovative ideas you've come up with to make use of interior space within the model, good job. |
Re: Great Dane excavating co.
Making mention of your koi pond becoming your dig site last couple yrs... what to do with the area now, you'll be selling that house/yard soon?
|
Re: Great Dane excavating co.
Thanks joe, still in the idea stage of garage,,, vinyl siding to match 4 car garage and equipment garage on other side of house. Roof is good, no leaks. A coupe more Windows, and singe person door. 2x6 walls will be fiberglass insulation. Ceiling may end up being steel panels. (Easier than drywall/and can just screw light fixtures into it. Not heavy stuff) interior walls I'm thinking drywall with wainscot paneling of some durable integrity or easy to wipe down. I have a new gas furnace that I acquired several years ago. It will be a perfect fit with cottage base , so no duct work. As far as house I'm in now, once dogs are out I'm painting, installing new moldings, carpet, and whatever else will appeal to perspective buyer. And when the poop factory's are gone I can landscape yard. Gong to flatten out the quarry. Would be nice to devote toy time to that but time is considered. I'm sure I'll have no problem finding work for the fleet at new place. Want to put it on market as soon as possible. And also have some time divided up to fix up sisters old house to sell also. And thanks on the truck. Might be a little bit before she runs, have to find a spare rx or harvest one somewhere. Need some electrical buss bars for electrical connections too. Totally forgot about that stuff. Been trying to get parts ahead of time, just the totally spaced on that stuff.

Re: Great Dane excavating co.
RW, trucks looking awesome!! I'm amazed at the short turning radius it has and I wish mine would turn like that. Boston gear make a bunch of universal joinst that would work in your truck. I've used them in my 3/4 scale SD-40 for over 20 years and never had a bit of trouble. Run up to page 100 and they start from there.
