and as of 1600HRS this is where I am at with the rebuild of the truck

I have the trucks chassis running and have got the sound to work too, with the SMT mounted on the cabs interior and the RX in the windscreen, ( good job I painted the windows black)
I am using a 40 MHz FM Robbe/futaba F16 8 channel TX/RX combo and it is ok, but I need to get a 2.4 gig radio for it but the cost is a bit too much at the moment

the M20+ label on the front of the control board

http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps8631ed15.jpg

I replaced the glitching low-profile servo with a standard one and had to raise the motor and gearbox by 6mm using some bronze bushing with a flat filled on them to get them to fit under the gearbox mounting lugs

Re: is it a tipper or a hook lift truck

been a busy boy today I have got the battery holder fitted and the M20+, the BMA boards down the side of the battery holder plus all of the lights working just got to transplant the hydraulic system and the hook lift gear from the old chassis to the new one LOL
rear light cluster being modified with plasticard insert that were drilled out to fit the 3mm LEDs from the outside to the centre, we have the Indicator LED, Rear LED, Brake LED and Reversing LED

http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps2fd9b72f.jpg

http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps579478af.jpg

light clusters re-fitted to the truck Chassis and as you can see I threaded the wires into heat shrink tubing ( a lot easier than the tamiya offering because they don't have plugs on them)

http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/e...psc21873fb.jpg

wires ready to be fitted to the M20+ board and you can see where I mounted the BMA and M20+ boards

http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps85f29c38.jpg

front Bumper with the LEDs fitted and as the rear lights we have from tha outside to the middle Indicator, Side light and main beam again with the wires in heat shrink tubing

http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps0f807f36.jpg

wiring up the lights I got the rear indicators the wrong way around LOL so had to swap them over LOL

the transplant of the hydraulics went like clockwork and it fitted fine, just got to wire up the pump to the BMA board and plug in the servos that control the valves and it should run OK

Hi Brel.

This starting to be a great set up.
I would like to do one of these myself one day.

Regards Ralph. (lostinoz)

thanks mate

I forgot to add that I had removed the three speed gearbox and servo and fitted one of these single speed gearboxes with the smallest pinion on the motor

Very nice Merc! I really like that scaleart pump, might have to switch mine on my roll on/off truck. I also just realized that I have 3 BMA's that I have not installed yet after seeing yours:D .

the BMA is a great little module but it is a pity that the run time after letting go of the stick, it can't be shut right down, I have got it down to two seconds

back to the truck

I bought a New 2.4 Gig flysky 9 channel radio with a 8 channel receiver radio for the truck because the F16 40MHz FM radio was glitching like there was no tomorrow and as you can see it arrived today

pictures of the new radio

http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps093cbcca.jpg

http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/e...psc3d16eef.jpg

it looks like they have taken an older 35 MHZ radio and converted it to 2.4 GHz with a module plugged into the back of it

http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/e...psda370eb7.jpg

http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/e...psa56cce4b.jpg

It only took me four hours to enable the 4 channels that are not on the sticks to the various knobs and switches on the unit Grrrrr, why they can't make a 8 or 9 channel radio that is simple to use is beyond me instead of having to use an aircraft radio, just got to set the truck and radio up again, oh well there goes the rest of the day LOL

That is quite a set up you have there! I can't wait to see the finished truck! I also bought an RC plane radio, but they are great!

Re: is it a tipper or a hook lift truck

I have fitted a smarty parts programming board that arrived today and I have re-flashed the firmware in the TX for a better version than the original firmware
also fitted a Hobbyking backlight a month a go and it now switches off by using a spare switch on the tx (allocated by the Er9X firmware) just got to work out how the firmware operates the TX now, also I have recalibrated the radio using the set up options in the TX

I have decided to replace the silver aluminium front bumper on the skip truck with another aluminium one, that I got from Rigid RC it is similar to the tamiya original one, the reason is to protect the steering servo on rough ground and grass, I also blanked out the lower light inboard of the outer ones

old bumper

new bumper

the Mercedes 4* 2 tractor has an aluminium bumper fitted to but is slightly different as I got it from another supplier

http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/e...psa66438e8.jpg

I also decided to replace the rear cab support with a metal one again from Rigid RC

So do I, it is a lot better than the tamiya offering and you don't have to mess about trying to get a split pin into it to lock down the cab, all three of my trucks are fitted with the cab support/latch from rigidrc
