Nice progress Jason. I enjoy reading about your updates and progress. I kind of figured a cab would hard to build, with the compound angles in the windshield, but you are definitely making it look easy. Must of cut the windows with a plasma?

Nate, Thank you. Yes the Plasma isnt the most accurate by hand, but ill doctor it up later. I figured id give it a shot. I think it came out ok.

A few more pics of some wheels. I love powder coating, Your putting stuff together an hour after coating them, Im happy with the way these came out. This is my favorite part of restoration... Assembling brand new parts :D

And still kicking around a new hubcap design. I like the one on the left i think. Not sure yet..Less holes to tap..:D It looks more like the 1:1 I think too.

Ahh, that's a tasty treat for the eyes! The powder coat parts look awesome. Of course the left hub looks better. The more bolts you use, the better, right? :D

Hi Jason! I must say. I`m already fan of yours! You are taking this machine to the next (“next”) level. I couldn’t imagine this machine now on other hands, neither a restoration better than yours. Definitely, it`s going to be a plus machine and you are capable to surprise us on every step of this building. I believe since you are so close to the real machine and you have that it takes, you should go for the rims just like the real one. I can`t wait to see the video of it working. Once again; Congrats on your project!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the kind words and hope to get the axles finished and put together this week. Waiting on a 2mm tap to clean the threads out of the axle housings. Shouldn't be too long, McMaster Carr is 40 min away from me and I can order something online before 9 am and get it the same morning. :)

Thank you everyone. I just wanted to say to anyone who has posted on my builds that if it seems like I have not commented much on your threads it's only because I've been so busy lately. It's been a great experience being here and meeting all of you. It seems a bit selfish to post and receive all the support and not to return the favor. I just wanted to say I appreciate all the comments and don't want to seem like a jerk for not supporting your threads.

And also, I read thru the thread of your 3d printed cabin and that inspired me to try out this new tech :D , so a RepRap Mendelmax 1.5 it will be (I have ordered the printed plastic parts and 20/20 frame already)

Had to make some new mounting rings for the motors as the originals are just staying on the oe front end for easy future referencing.

Been looking at the 1:1 counter weight and decided to take a stab at it out of steel.

After squaring with a fly cutter. Getting this squared up is important as theres going to be some serious material being removed. Dont want anything wiggling around in the vise.

Weight is 3lbs. Im not sure if i should hollow some of it out. Im thinking too much weight could be excessive wear on the gear reduction?...In the dirt it shouldnt be an issue. On pavement overtime..maybe. But it will definitely keep the back end planted.

The battery access door will be the rear upper plate with the nice contoured bend on the back. Having some trouble figuring out how to attach it neatly. Would like to hinge it but that doesnt seem to want to work well and keep the gap between the stationary plate the hinge is mounted to (the top of the body) and the hinged plate edge. The gap will be too noticeable. Maybe i need a special interior hinge...idk

Holy smokes Jason! That counterweight and the hood is looking awesome. Been looking forward to some updates on this for a couple weekends, and you never disappoint! Maybe instead of hinges on the hood you could use some rare earth magnets, and make the whole deal removable. I'm kind of headed that way with my KW project. I have to be able to remove the cab, to get to the battery, and I'm not going to drill holes and screw it to the base. Just bouncing the idea around.
