Re: Mack M75SX
This thing is coming along great Steve.. It's a monster..
I have some idea of it's size from the picture with the alcohol bottle next to it but how about a picture of it next to your Green corn binder... ~Mike~ |
Re: Mack M75SX
heck Matt I'm running double shifts now , I figured since I had room on the piece of plate for the trailer I cut soom parts for this  the mill basically running non stop
Mike I'll try , you might have to wait till january when I get the trucks out for cabin fever expo . |
Re: Mack M75SX
Very nice frame sides, are the milled on both sides or only out side? What is the time (approx) for milling one side?
Dan |
Re: Mack M75SX
thanks Dan , both sides . The initial op (1 side ) was 8 hrs on the flip over just shy of 3 hrs to mill between the flanges . I have about 24 hrs with a set of trailer frames and the 2nd mack frame and the walking beams . All out of 1 piece of plate .

Re: Mack M75SX
Good to see you making progress with your cnc equip Steve... ppl can clearly see by your trials & errors the reason why these complicated models cost what they do to manufacture! Great work!
|
Re: Mack M75SX
Thank you , Joe :) All the hair pulling is finally paying off , I just wish I new more about G code then I do :( . I'm thinking of taking some courses on it once I get caught up . Cam is nice but I wish I could catch the quirks before the program goes in the mill . Well I should have my axle shaft bar tomorrow then I can get these axles together finally
|
Re: Mack M75SX
Wish I could remember where I saw the video for virtual run-for checking error's, I thought it was on the Tormach site???? Not much help!
But I did laugh the first time, when I heard that the BYU student's had to trial run there cnc project's in styrofoam first! Something about speed's and feed's? being way too fast, LOL! and this was back in the eightie's! CAN YOU SAY EXPENSIVE CRASH! The part's look great, even if they take a while to make! Later, Neil#2 aka doodlebug |

Re: Mack M75SX
You have to have "macro" on for the point and shoot to get that close.
|
Re: Mack M75SX
Steve, are you using your wife's finger nail polish to clean that camera lens again? All kidding aside those wheels and rims look kick azz. Just had an other thought maybe it's all that midnight oil your burning is sooting up the lens!!!!

Re: Mack M75SX
Joe, Rob and Matt I have the macro on , It just does not focus up close :( my wife thought she got a good deal at 75 usd  not  it could also be lack of natural lighting it's been scarce around here lately :( . today I woke to no power with the mill on all night fortunately it didn't surge :eck:
thanks papy wait till I'm done with the rear hubs ;) I'll have better pics by then |
Re: Mack M75SX
Steve, I'm no camera guru but, This is what I have been using since Christmas. I am very happy with it. As you can see my macro can get really detailed shots. Steady hands is all you need or use one of those tiny tripods. I hardly ever use the flash in my shop. I took some pictures this weekend at camp in the dark with flash and they turned out very nice.

thanks Lou , I guss thats why I have so many to make  Joe , my body tells me when to get some sleep or my wife puts me back in my cave :p the lathe is a charm :D with being able to cut .125 off the radius in 1 cut w/out the motor bogging or flat belt slipping will spoil you quick  now thats slow compared to the mill  I hustle to keep up with the mill in making wheel components . I'm finally getting the rear axles together  just have to order my shims and longer bolts . gettin closer to driving this baby around :D:o |
Re: Mack M75SX
OK Still the same cam :o but I got a little time ( well took :o ) to shim and set up the rear axles and assemble . they're upside down to assemble and pics , the walking beams belong on the bottom
