Re: optimus prime transformers

http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/...ps673a3cf6.jpgstill waiting for the last of my parts to come in..take note of the proper double j brackets for the headlights and the grille is closer to the real one on optimus, the bumper is just on for looks so the truck does not look toothless as they say, proper one has been ordered with the right holes as brought to my attention awhile ago ,it is currently being painted and it should be back in the next few weeks ,by then the rest of the parts should be in and i can start to assemble this loooong ,sloooow build ,disregard the label on the right pipe as it will be removed and the polished, also take note the pipes are the correct 45 degree mitred cut at the top.thank you all for being patient and stay tuned as i am nearing completion of this build..hope you all like what you see so far:D

Re: optimus prime transformers

The guy on ebay has the proper grill bumper and air breathers with the correct lights and the grill with the double j brackets, all his items are a bit pricy but they are near 100% correct... truck looks great can't wait to see it finished.

kingbob 05-17-2013 09:50 AM

Re: optimus prime transformers

Yeah i found that thread and hit ebay straight away!

1985 kenworth 05-17-2013 10:04 AM

Re: optimus prime transformers

Actually DT everything is correct on that ebay grille except the headlight mounts.they are not true double j they are from the older style 359 however they are correctly mounted to the grille.oh and yes i have one on the way to me right now because i cannot make the blinker bars in front, and besides that i am going for the closest look. Not everything is going to be exactly the way it is for real but i am ok with that...after all its supposed to be fun:D....thanks everyone for looking... i can't wait until its done either;)

I could have saved myself much frustration, effort, pain, and even money if they had been available earlier.

Re: optimus prime transformers

The paint does not have the small pinstripe but when you see you will agree that it is a minor imperfection that doesn't take away from the overall paint. I love it and i can definitely live with it

Re: optimus prime transformers

thanks everyone for your patience with this build .i really wanted a true as can be replica of this truck which is why i got a painter friend to do this.there is no way today..tomorrow...next week...or even the next lifetime(if there is one)that could have ever pulled this off and i want to thank everyone involved at helping to bring my idea 17 months ago to a reality.this truck i was thinking to make a special carry case for optimus and zeus to transport them to and from shows ..venues...etc i was thinking wooden crate with handles for the strength and being rigid.does anyone have any suggestions on what to line it with that will not damage the paint in transit..glad everyone likes it .now to finish up the little bits left to do and the trailer ..then the lights..woo hoo.and just to mention before someone else does :eek:no this truck will not be hitting any curbs...ever!!!

Re: optimus prime transformers

Maybe just used some closed cell foam. The sort of stuff you get in cushions or in Pelican cases.
Most foam places will be able to sell you big thick layers that you can cut to shape.
