I seem to build equipment strong enough as I don't ever have break downs. but if something does break it is nice that I don't have to wait for parts like some folks are having..;) |
Re: RCLogger
HAPPY NEW YEAR !
Looks like everyone is getting some modeling in over the holidays. So I thought I would add my progress as well. http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...2/IMG_0120.jpg http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...2/IMG_0121.jpg |
Re: RCLogger
Looking very nice!!!

Re: RCLogger
wow looking great Greg, another fine looking build from you guys up island

Re: RCLogger
Nice stuff on your thread here Greg and real nice work on the new dozer. What will you use to power the hydraulic?

Re: RCLogger
Was at Greg's this afternoon for a preview. Seeing this model up close is amazing. This model is going to be a power house and a great runner. He's really mastered the art of fabricating models.

Re: RCLogger
Greg that is a very nice job you are doing on the dozer it looks real good. I like the high track that is what I want to do to the Stahl dozer I got if I ever get all the pieces from Germany to finish it. keep up the good work. Ed;):)

Re: RCLogger

Re: RCLogger
Thanks Fred and Ed
I must say that the high track works very well. Mine has never plugged up with dirt as the sprocket is high and dry.. Usually by the time the chain makes its way to the sprocket most of the dirt has fallen off.. greg |
Re: RCLogger
I started building the Ripper for the D8R, sure a grunt cutting the thick alunumim

Re: RCLogger
Sure looks like you could drag that through a lot of rock. How;d the bees wax work. Maybe you still need less teeth on the blade.
Rob |
Re: RCLogger
You used a scroll saw to cut that tooth out Greg?
And it looks like your tip is replaceable too? :D |
Re: RCLogger
Looking good Greg, nice to see a little brother, will it be with open cab? Have a lot of messurments on D8R, if you need anything just come back.

Re: RCLogger

Re: RCLogger
Very nice work, it looks awesome.

Re: RCLogger
great work on the ripper...
|
Re: RCLogger
The dozer is looking really good and stout, Greg. Can't wait to see it pushing.
|
Re: RCLogger
Great progress, Greg! I might have missed this, but what do you scale your models off of? A die-cast replica, or actual drawings? Maybe manuals with dimensions, or a combination of things? Do you have a spring tensioner for the track? One thing that I was really wondering about, and something I have never had the chance to check out on a 1:1 dozer is the tracks can walk or articulate up and down, right? There is usually a bar that oscillates in the undercarriage. With the high drive tracks, and the drive sprocket being fixed in location, if a track articulates up, the track would get looser? So some sort of automatic track tensioning system must be necessary?

Re: RCLogger
Thanks for the kind words guys !
I guess you could say its a little brother, but Dan it is from another family compared to your machine. Mine is stand a few hundred feet away scale compared to yours.LOL Nathan I use photo's from the internet and I scale up brochers. As far as the track tension, I do use a spring in the track frames to keep the tension, also if a rock or any type of debree goes into the idelers the spring compensates. If you look at the 1-1 the pivot point is just ahead of the sprocket on the track frame. They have a system to keep the proper track tension as well... |
Re: RCLogger
Wow, you work quick. It looks great. What will you do with your other dozer?
|
Re: RCLogger
Great progress Greg! Love that you made the tooth on the ripper removable, then when it wears down from ripping rock you can change it out;)
|
Re: RCLogger
A little more work done on the ripper. Still have some more work to get it finished up.

I think you mentioned using air cylinders from McMaster for this and other projects...they hold up pretty good? I think I like the looks of those better than Clippards. Keep thinking I need to do something to turn down the square ends on the Clippards. Joe |
Re: RCLogger
Why don't you order direct from TTM Modellbau? Order in bulk, bank wire, you'll have your stuff inside of two weeks.

Re: RCLogger

Re: RCLogger
Greg! That Unit is looking Serious!! Ripper makes that Unit!! And looks like it has lot's of depth for ripping.
|
Re: RCLogger
Greg you are doing a very nice job on that dozer looks great keep it up. I like your single tooth ripper better than the multi tooth. Ed

Re: RCLogger
I had a chance to mount some pads on the chain todayhttp://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...02/pads002.jpg

Re: RCLogger
Greg Looking better every day. Did you spin that side up. If you put some lead in her, she'll have some serious push for the blade and pull for the ripper
