It looks like it's going to work great Mario. Are these conveyors going to be stationary or mobile so you can move them with the dozer or a truck?

Thanks Mike. It's still a work in progress but I'm liking the results so far.

Thanks Kent. Both conveyors will be very location specific and stationary. i do have a bruder conveyor that can be used in various spots around the pit. and who knows what future things might come along:rolleyes::D

Re: S&M construction open for bizz nizz!

I don't want to high jack coopers thread and thought best to share on mine....
Thanks to the efforts and experience of a few forum members I've come to realize that I need to change some of my construction site plans.
I've run into a conveyor capability issue.
I want to be able to collect screener material directly onto a conveyor and fill a hopper similar to a duratoy Sandmaster. That way I can load my Izzy tri axle dump trailer without scratching or doing any damage contacting it with the hoe or loader and use to haul the road building material around.
Problem is, the black pete truck has a stack clearance of 11" so the hopper will sit high to begin with. I'd also like the hopper to have the capacity to fill atleast one trailer load.....starting to look like this hopper is going to be atleast 2ft high! So a conveyor at 20 degrees won't work unless I run it from an elevated area which means I can't feed with the loader.......

So, plan B. The hopper will not be a drive under type but have a funnel bottom at ground level which feeds a conveyor ( #3) to load the trucks. That way, No worries about height clearance or truck width for friends who visit and run their trucks in the yard.
i should have taken measurements and figured this out in the fall! The yard is gone and buried in snow now but I really want to get a jump start for next season and build as much as I can now so I don't waste the play season with building stuff!
All comments and suggestions welcome! :)

Hey Mario, just back under the sandmaster, like we do when hauling wet batch concrete from the drum.
Cheers, Neil.

Re: S&M construction open for bizz nizz!

Mario, most of the sandmasters are raised to fit the trucks under, but you can cut the bottom of the hopper where the funnel goes down the square tube off and gain a little clearance. also if you are gonna load rough dirt in it you will have to take the grate out of it or it will stay plugged all the time. ;)

Hey Mario, just put a super fast race motor on the belt!! It will shoot it up there then!! Like those gravel chuckers they have for some dump trucks :) lol!!

Re: S&M construction open for bizz nizz!

Well you could put the black Pete and the izzy dump up on the shelf and call it a queen :p:p:lol::lol: then spend the winter building a work truck. Or set the sandmaster up on the level and lower the road that runs through it, might have to modify the sandmaster, I don't remember if it's got a floor under the hopper or not.:D. But I do like Cooper's idea to that thing is crazy, I've seen them but never in operation!

Re: S&M construction open for bizz nizz!

Get a 15" car tire tube, buy a new one to cut up if need be, the rubber is thinner & will stretch for a 58" conveyer. 2' rise on 58" travel is not that steep. Screening a bucket load at a time, there will never be that much weight on the belt at any given time, so it won't take that much power to drive. Don't over think it. :)

Supermario 01-08-2015 09:06 PM

Re: S&M construction open for bizz nizz!

Sorry guys if I said it wrong.
I don't have a Sandmaster but want to build something that works like one with the overhead hopper design. I agree Kent that if I lower the road below the hopper would help.
And there is no way in he** I will let the black pete and izzy trailer collect shelf dust! I didn't spend all that time and cash and not put them to work!
I look at it this way.... two types of trucks at a open pit or mine site . The old dirty hard working site haulers and then the prestige type, haul the good stuff off the site highway rigs. :D

I think your onto something with the chucker style conveyor RW ! That changes everything!

Has anyone ever tried to make a scale auger style conveyor? It would eliminate angle issues . Just wondering what in the heck a guy could use to make one?

Thanks Joe. Your right about over thinking it. That's the problem when backyard is buried in snow and all I'm doing is" thinking about how it's going to work and fit " I've got plenty of other work that needs to be done. Might need to put this project on the shelf till spring.

Mario just a heads up on the dirt you have piled around the tree at screening plant if dirt gets higher it will kill the tree

Then comes the sit down and relax part but before that I figured make a video. It's not exactly the process I follow. ( after dumping, the truck goes to the screener to catch the roots and debris) hauls that to a spot back by the loading dock as a scrap pile.

Anyway, you get the point. It's a whole lotta fun!!! :bounce:

I wish I could Jack but the wife might have something to say about that.
Seriously though, it really is quite a chore hauling up and out and back again. Definitely planning to build a carry case for the radios and stuff but the equipment is one at a time no matter what.:(
Hmmmmm, Now in the dead of winter, I actually miss those days real bad! .....Ok, there will be no complaining come next summer from me!:D:cop::lol:

Thanks. I was wondering about that and any effect. I love the canopy of shade all the trees provide and don't want to screw that up. Good news is my theoretical new layout of the screener area will take all that dirt away from the base of the tree.
Can't wait till spring! :bounce:

Re: S&M construction open for bizz nizz!

Time for an update.....
Back in September my good friend Goose19 ( Allen ) was in town and wanted to play in the pit. I said what do you want to run? Truck, dozer, hoe, loader?
He said loader.
He ran it for about 5 minutes and was ready to start loading the truck. On his third bucket he approached the truck bucket up, ready to dump when all of a sudden the drive ESC went crazy! The loader went to full speed forward and climbed right up the side of the dump box! for a split second I looked his way as to say... What are you doing!
So, long story short. Both ESC 's are cooked and ordered a few new ones. the look on his face was priceless! nothing he did wrong, just the timing was hilarious it happened to him and not me.

This weekend I finally decided to install the new ESC's when I realized I've got lots of repairs and upgrades to do, never mind new builds like conveyors I can't even test in the yard right now!:cop:

Loader all done and was testing and setting up the valves when I noticed a lot of heat coming from the pump ESC. I posted this video before knowing what was wrong and found out later in the day, the brand new out of the box , 10 dollar China ESC was bad.
Anyway, here's the video with my new ground rubber I got and its really going to help get me through till spring:D

Re: S&M construction open for bizz nizz!

Wired in the new ESC lastnight and sure enough, as soon as I get it running perfect I want to push it and see what it can do.:D:cop:
History repeats itself. 2 years ago when my bruder loader was brand new, never seen dirt I did a push test.
Just had to do something like that again I guess.:D:lol:

BTW. Still original cylinders, valve , the drive servos, first pump failed within a few hours of run time but new one has been great ever since.
Replaced servos and ESC's that's it.:)

I agree! No more bling! .....especially when the Canadian dollar is lower than has been in a decade!:mad:
steves wheels were a must but that's it! I don't mind the stock tanks and I got no problem with the steps so no more bling! ;)
There's room for other upgrades though. Started today when I took the advice from the forum and finally filled the steer tires with BB's.
I bought a container today with 1500 bb figuring that should be plenty... Very surprised when I fit the entire contents into 2 tires and had a little room for more:eek: what a difference though, no more popping tires off the bead and each adds some good weight! Each wheel now weighs 12 ounces!
The other upcoming upgrade is a 4:1 GRU I ordered from PMD. Reason being, if I'm going to get Reg to build a pup, the truck better be able to pull it!:D
Don't worry Reg..... Next winter build:D;)

Basement fun is coming to an end, will be outside soon........so I keep telling myself.:eek:
I've really enjoyed having the ground rubber to move around and get me through the off season but always found a broom didn't clean things up very well when playtime was done. Turns out a rubber edged dust pan worked the best to gather the rubber back up.
Because of that I added something today you will never see on a 1:1 loader bucket.... A rubber cutting edge!:jaw::lol:
And a great way to clean up rc style! Still needs some tweaking to get it right but so far so good? :D

Re: S&M construction open for bizz nizz!

I can't say I've seen a rubber edge on a bucket but we do have a 1:1 plow truck at work that has a rubber edge on its belly blade so that it doesn't tear up our durability events.

Looks like it does a pretty good job:D
