Re: HillBilly Deluxe
Looks great!Cant wait to see it back together.I just ordered one of those transmissions, looking forward to see how it works.
|
Re: HillBilly Deluxe
Thanks guys!
Paul I never felt good about that trans after it broke on me, just doing some testing. I repaired it but how long before it breaks again? Still need lots of stuff including another diff, going three axle drive heavy hauler. |
Re: HillBilly Deluxe
Truck is going to look great. I see you've spent a lot of time dolling up your tractors too I guess. Noticed a lot of them have lights and wipers and stuff on them to add detail, I have quite a few tractors but all original for the most part and most in, or with, boxes. Like the 2 way antenna on the 2+2! Oh, and that's a BIG train LOL!
|
Re: HillBilly Deluxe
I really like what you have done with this wedico, it is how they should come from the factory. I like the size comparison with the 1/16 tractors, are the tamiyas also close in size?

Re: HillBilly Deluxe
Putting somethings back together today couldn't resist taking a few photos even though cab and sleeper are not bolted down.
Long Heavy glider anyone? http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...nkin/001-9.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...kin/002-13.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...kin/003-12.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...n/006-Copy.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...nkin/010-4.jpg |
Re: HillBilly Deluxe
Craig, even as a glider, your truck looks really great. That front hitch on the bumper gives the look you are after. That turned out really nice. Out of the hitches you were looking at putting on the bumper, that's the one I would have went with too. I'm really liking the new paint scheme. The black fenders look great with the red cab and hood. That's one color combination that definitely looks as good on a 1:1 truck, as it does on your Peterbilt. I also like the scale hardware. Hope you'll have a smooth build, from here on out. I can't wait to see it finished.
|
Re: HillBilly Deluxe
Thanks for the compliments Nate, I'm really happy with that hitch, I had that one professionally installed. I know another guy's truck that could benefit from a hitch like that like that.
|
Re: HillBilly Deluxe
That looks really sharp Craig!!! Loving that front tow hook too!:D
-Alex |
Re: HillBilly Deluxe
Thanks Alex! Nathan mounted the hitch for me and Russ made the bumper, they go together like they were meant to be.
|
Re: HillBilly Deluxe
Craig looking good...love the color choice black and red always looks great together...
|
Re: HillBilly Deluxe
Thanks Bob!

Re: HillBilly Deluxe
Craig, how about a frontal shot of that bumper and hitch?

Re: HillBilly Deluxe
Here you go Nathan,

Re: HillBilly Deluxe
Looks good, Craig. I see you got those mini jack stands you were talking about. The nylock M2 nuts are great. Might need some of those, myself, someday.

Re: HillBilly Deluxe
While waiting on parts on funds for parts (haven't we all been there!) I couldn't help but bolt down the cab, sleeper, fuel tanks and fifth wheel, still need another Rust axle and set of the Wedico aluminum wheels that cost a small fortune.
I'm the type that needs to be able to see where my truck is going to stay focused, after almost two years it would be easy to lose interest. http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...kin/002-14.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...kin/001-11.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...kin/004-10.jpg Still would like to have dual motors, this new trans mission is nice but things look kind of puny under the hood. http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...kin/003-14.jpg |
Re: HillBilly Deluxe
Sweet looking truck!!!I really like all the add ons,luv that red n black.Great job on your build!!!
|
Re: HillBilly Deluxe
Thank you Fred!
|
Re: HillBilly Deluxe
You are for sure going in the right direction with the 3rd axle, black frame and those frame bolts are sick. great looking wedico would be proud to own that! that front hook is killer
|
Re: HillBilly Deluxe
Thanks DD, still have some ideas that will hopefully turn to reality soon.

Re: HillBilly Deluxe
I got some parts from IH Steve today, His parts are gorgeous. The longer fuel tanks with filler caps are just what I wanted, they are just perfect. The headache rack is also a beautiful part but I unfortunately I won't be using it on my truck. When it sits flat on the frame rails it matches the Wedico perfectly but with the longer fuel tanks the two interfere with each other and the rack would need to be lifted above the roof line of the sleeper, just doesn't work for my taste. I could go back to the stock fuel tanks but after having these tanks that is impossible. I am in the works of changing out my Osswald suspension and Rust axles for Scale Art parts powder coating ruined my Osswald bolsters and the short ones are about as rare as hen's teeth. I was planning on going with a three axle drive and the cabinet headache rack for an awesome heavy hauler, now that I'm not going to use the rack the look is incomplete. I could just go for a tandem but my truck seems too long for that in my eyes. Also have Lynn building me a taillight panel, can't wait to see how that finishes off the back of the truck.
Comments welcomed! http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...kin/001-12.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...kin/002-15.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...nkin/005-9.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...kin/003-15.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...kin/004-11.jpg |

Re: HillBilly Deluxe
Craig. The truck is looking incredible! You talked about 2 years and not wanting to lose interest?....not possible. A simple glance at this baby would perk up my interest.:D
Yes, the fuel tanks must stay, very nice fit. I see what you mean about the tool box rack. Do you think a simple rack and keep the third axle would work? I can't remember, what kind of trailer you putting behind this beauty? I know this is a link to a Tamiya truck not Wedico but I like the look of it. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/320934677669?...#ht_3813wt_922 Mario |
Re: HillBilly Deluxe
Hi Mario.
Thanks for the compliments Mario! I will probably keep the 3 axle drive. The biggest reason is I just want to try it for myself with 3:1 locking Scale Art diffs and two of their 4 link kits, I have to see if it can be done to a Wedico myself. For a trailer I'm thinking M+J Talbert lowboy with 4 axle flip but that could change too. |
Re: HillBilly Deluxe
I did a little more playing around tonight, I think I have come up with a mount that would work for the headache rack, have to have one machined up to try it out. How is this the for heavy hauler look? Mmmm.......shiny.

Re: HillBilly Deluxe
That's one of the nicest trucks i've seen. Where did you get that head ache rack and can you get them for the King Hauler?
|
Re: HillBilly Deluxe
Thanks you for the compliments blitzk. The headache rack fits both the King Hauler and the Wedico Peterbilt, contact IH Steve in the vendor's section, He machines them himself.
|
Re: HillBilly Deluxe
That lockerbox gives it that heavy haul look for sure. I can't wait to get mine! Truck is looking good ,great job!!
|
Re: HillBilly Deluxe
Craig , did you take the brackets off that I had on ? the box has to sit off the frame about .125" to get the cover off (they're a snug fit with 2 set screws underneath beside both brackets . the truck looks good ;)
Fred , yours is ready, I just want to hit it with purple polish . ;) |
Re: HillBilly Deluxe
Thanks for the compliments Steve, I took the brackets off, I have a plan for a different mount though, I will leave room for the door to come off.
|
Re: HillBilly Deluxe
You know Craig, that locker box is kind of growing on me, but it's a look you have to get used to. I'm not sure what you will decide to do with it, but maybe a set of toolboxes, or steps, hanging off the frame rails would be a nice 'filler' if you don't like all that chassis showing. With, or without a third axle.
|
Re: HillBilly Deluxe
Thanks Nathan,
With the three axles I think the frame is perfect, without the third axle it looks too long to me. The headache rack has grown on me a lot too, I think if it was about half as thick it would be perfect! The rack looks great from the rear. |
Re: HillBilly Deluxe
The rear view is always nice with a rack like that. :D Gezz..... :o
|
Re: HillBilly Deluxe
Steve made me a new Slim Jim headache rack, much more to my liking!!!!
Still need to make a mount, hope I get some suspension parts from Santa! http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...tonkin/013.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...nkin/016-1.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...tonkin/014.jpg |
