Joe that looks great and as far as your problem how about a valve in the with a servo to cut off or reduce the flow, it will go to the least resistance. Ed

On the cable scrapers I've run you pull on the lever and the door opens and then the ejector pushes forward. Then when you push the lever away the ejector moves fast to the rear before the door closes. You may need to put a needle valve that meters in one direction and free flows the opposite. So you may need two to dial in both functions. I have a small 4-1/4CY Soil Mover scraper that has a valve body in the lines to regulate the flows.

Mine has rubber bands on the ejector so it doesn't move forward till the crowd is all the up.

Hey Joe try it in the dirt first you get a load in it it should hold your ejector back i would try it in the dirt might work then

joe ejector is the crowd apron is what you mean , I think .

Joe DP9 , what joe did will work try that or play with some springs till you get the right tension before changing the hydros . Also , just a thought on keeping the dirt out of the crowd roller path , see if you can put some kind of rubber wiper on the crowd to keep the floor clean . I've been thinking of this for my 2 $scrapers .

Otherwise you could put pressure relief valves in the gate cylinder lines (and a check valve in each as well), but have the dump of the pressure relief valve run the crowd cylinder instead of being a tank drain. This way the Gate cylinder would open fully first, then the relief valve would allow fluid to the crowd cylinder. Need the check valve in the non pressurozed side to allow fluid from the rod end of the crowd to bypass the pressure relief valve on the rod end of the gate cyl and return to tank. Same thing in reverse.

I'll see if I can't draw up a schematic quick of what I mean.

A crude drawing but it should work. Only downside is the the crowd will retract after the door goes down. If you want that to be reversed then just switch the relief valve and check valve directions on the rod end of the cylinders to make the sequence that the door opens first and closes last.

As drawn the door opens first and closes first. The pressure reliefs would be set just a tad higher pressure than is required to operate the Gate reliebly, but also under system pressure.

I'm not sure what is all available in the small hydraulic valves and such, so hopefully there is something you can fit in.

you don't want to much resistance . just enough to get the apron open when empty . when loaded you'll have plenty of resistance :)

Thanks guys, it wont be long now. I put it in the dirt and MAN it does good, dozer has plenty of power, it loads like a dream, and a BIG bowl full. However the only problem is that the apron gets dirt hungup in between it and the bowl, not letting the apron move. So I think I'm going to cut the apron sides down a little and see if that helps. Going to put a stiff arm on the apron too and maybe it will force it some. I think once the apron is working right, it will solve the resistence problem. The crowd didn't hang up at all like I had thought it would, so that made me feel better. Steve, I have leather sweeps in front of the crowd too keep the roller track clean.

Dan, the dozer will push a little better than 200 lbs, not sure on the drawbar pull yet.

Wow, your scraper looks great! Even just the vid of it running on the bench looks cool.
