Here's a couple quick pictures of a dolly I made to pull a pup trailer behind my 6x6. The hitch is removable so I can install a short standard style hitch for pulling doubles. I haven't built the short hitch yet.

Fanstasic build!! :) I'm curious about the walking beam setup. Does it have any straight bump/droop travel? For example, on level ground as you increase the load in the bed, would the suspension begin to compress at all? It looks like the only suspension movement is when it's articulating, but perhaps I missed something in the build?

Can't believe how small it makes those tires look! I love it. :D

Thank you for the comments TommyR:D

The rear suspension is based on a Hendrickson "R" model solid mount suspension.

http://www.hendrickson-intl.com/Truc...ional/R-Series

The truck was based off a Western Star 6900XD which has larger tires. Before I could find the tires I wanted these kinda grew on me and when it's loaded and off road the it'll stuff the tires. They also work very well off road. So I decided to leave well enough alone. At least for now,:lol:;)

Nice Dolly! I'd suggest moving the 5th wheel hitch forward to get the 5th wheel pin centered over the suspension on the dolly, to get a level ride with no porpoising.

Found a new photo host thanks to Lil Giants.

For those new to the forum, this is the subject of this build thread. I am currently upgrading the screw drive and finalizing the connection to the pup trailer. More pictures coming soon!

How are you uploading now? I'm still using Photo$ucket but I know my account will be gone next year so I need to switch things up.

It's called https://postimages.org/. Northern Farmer posted the link to it in one of the Photobucket rage threads so I gave it a try with my IPad and so far so good. Flickr doesn't work for posting pictures when using the iPad app.

Thanks for the comment Brandon and the link to postimg.org. The truck is actually still a work in progress and after a few more tweaks I'm going to rerail it. I've changed and upgraded so many things over the last couple years the frame rails are looking like Swiss cheese.

Updated the screw drive on this thing. Took a while to find a lathe to use for five minutes. Got it done, just need to test it with weight. It is much faster.

Nice looking screw drive Kent! It almost looks like a CNC's ball screw. With the right RPM motor on it that should work great.

Nice, what thread is on the screw. ? You can come and use my lathe any time, but I'm in Toronto......

Yes, this is really nicely built but I have a question that I hope wasn't already discussed.

Will this area be sealed up against dirt and exposure?

Looks good. Is it the same thread as the Servonaut screw drives?

Thanks Dennis, it's quite fast compared to the previous rod I had in there and the LESU screw drive in the dump trailer this pulls. Check the links at the bottom of this post for what I used.

Thanks for the offer Jack, one of these days I'm going to try and get back to Canada again! Check the links at the bottom of this post for what I used.

No and it's the 3rd screw drive in it, changing only for better performance. Haven't had any issues with normal maintenance. You can't seal the area and have it work correctly. Stay tuned for a new video, hopefully this weekend.

Thanks egrovold, I'm not familiar with servonauts screw drive, I've made the last 2 from scratch, the links below will show the stats on what I used, the rest of the parts were hand made.

Thanks for the links Kent!
8mm per rev movement, that is very nice. I bookmarked that one for sure. I'm really getting to like Servocity.

I have started to go through all there stuff to get ideas on what might work for us. I've bought a bunch of motors from them including the screw drive motor on this truck. The Crackerbox had a planetary motor set that I ended up modifying with a different motor mounted to the planetary, fun stuff!
