Re: CAT 14M Motor Grader

Kinda off/on topic, as I'm sitting here in my cab with the radio and a/c on, it jus hit me, it would probably be cheaper(not including cost of machine) to turn this machine into remote control, everything except throttle, and on/off runs through joysticks, a 14 channel radio would cover it! But I think that would be pretty awesome, but nit sure if it would fit in my garage!

If you ever have camera with you, I would be grateful if you are able to take some photos of the machine, mainly on the back wall of the cab.

This build is insane! I can't get enough of it. The level of detail is so incredible. A true matster piece in the making. I have to agree that it will almost be a shame to paint and decal this machine up, as it is a work of art!

Also CAT went back to an I-beam front frame piece instead of tubular due to cracking issues ..

Ari,
Do you know of a source for the step material that you used? Hopefully, on this side of the "pond"! Need some no matter where you got it from:eek:

Thanks in advance.

I got it from here: http://www.fechtner-modellbau.de/sho...2006s002_1.htm
it´s the number 2639 on that page. I have no idea is it available on your side of the pond, but I´m sure you can get something similar there.

I made some details to the back of the cab, I will add some more hoses there.
Many thanks to johnboyee from the detailed pictures of the real machine:)

Re: CAT 14M Motor Grader

I test fit the valve block and the pump to the grader, and they seems to go in wihtout any problems. I will add second valve block in front of the other and they go so low I can add pump over them and there still over 2 inch clearance to the hood.

Re: CAT 14M Motor Grader

Ari, just a quick suggestion. Loosen the set screw that holds the motor to the the pump and turn it 180 degrees to the bottom. That way if there is any pump leakage it will drain out the hole and not gum up the motor. Thanks for showing us that just about anyone can build this caliber of model with just a small shop. Well Done.

Re: CAT 14M Motor Grader

I found myself starting from the beginning of your thread once more, today. I just can't over how much talent you have, to create a machine like this. We can't even call it a model because it's not. It's a true, functional, working machine, but on a smaller scale. Unbelievable! What a masterpiece. I think even some the best model builders on this site can't help but be humbled, when they view your thread!

I started to add the hydraulic hoses, first I install the steering related ones.
Theres going to be a lot of hoses when I´m finished

I'd paint this thing before I'd plumb it, gonna be mezzy taking it all apart afterward.

Will mine be ready to ship in the new year? :D

You are right about that, but with this one I want to see that if it even works the way it should, before painting. It´s easier to do the needed modifications when you don´t have to watch out the new paint job.

Looks amazing as always! About the paint, just spray it all yellow when all hoses ar installed, then go bash it! :) J/K

Boy that is a lot of hose! Your doing great with routing it all, and keeping it tidy with the anchor points and hose retainers. Very clean.

It's an incredible level of mastership that you offer to us! When I'm thinking of all the machining work, planning, designing and everything it involves, I'm speechless... Great great job! Thanks to share!

Now what did you do to pair up all the hoses at the back? Tape them together...

What size tubing is it? 1.5mm throughout?

I taped the hoses together. The inside diameter of the tubing is 1mm.

Here is a video of the 14M running first time whitout hydraulics:)

Ari,

I've been following your project, I have to say that perfection is expectable that you realize the project. Congratulations!

In cutting blade you used linear guide which model was it?

Thank you,

Great video! You've got to be really happy and proud of your work up to this point. This is amazing, and great to see the model moving under it's own power. The turning radius looks great, for it being so long.

Re: CAT 14M Motor Grader

Other than tires, bolts & other miscellaneous bits, you've built everything to this point, well done Ari!

Are you making your own pump & valves too?

Hey awesome looking build! I have been following it since the start and it always keeps getting better! just wondering though, where did you get the tubing you used for the hydraulics?

Thanks, and keep up the sweet work!
