Re: dresser TD40B dozer
Nice work steve-putting all those pcs. together looks like it would be fun to do. Are the pins pressed in? This machine is looking really good.
|
Re: dresser TD40B dozer
Thanks , Tom . The pins and bushings are pressed into the rails(links) . Even the master pin is some what I'll be cutting snap ring groves in them . I was going to use the split master link , but I just didn't trust the bolts .
Here's a few more update pics . I have the chains assembled and pads on one side . Track frames almost done . New cab mocked up ( stickin with the B I don't want some komatsuized machine ) http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...pstcnjwxow.jpg http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psy4i3jcph.jpg http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psp7p7ffdk.jpg http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psgobqxjxj.jpg http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psgsbigl1o.jpg http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psfveqrsq9.jpg http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psujvvvkgi.jpg http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...pszmeupste.jpg http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psy4byv2iz.jpg |
Re: dresser TD40B dozer

Re: dresser TD40B dozer

I cant see any on the forum right now  |
Re: dresser TD40B dozer
I was trying to look up pictures of a previous build I had done and couldn't see any. Thinking something is broken.lol
|
Re: dresser TD40B dozer
PB was acting goofy last night as is now . I can't even get it up on my puter . On my phone I get a network error .
|
Re: dresser TD40B dozer
ON topic , I just realized how long I had this beast sitin  gettin heavy now , soon it'll be the chain falls to put it on the bench .
|
Re: dresser TD40B dozer
It is coming together very nicely steve.Nice work .Looks chunky too on that workbench ..Looks as though PB is down ..i am getting the same thing as you ..hope they can save everything we already uploaded ..that would be a b****h if that was lost ..with all the bloody ads it is getting to be really painful to load and post pics
|
Re: dresser TD40B dozer
I think the ads on PB is killing me on this old (new to me ) puter . I can't update safari on it anymore . It's getting close to the 990's weight :eek:I started drawing up the hood and finalizing the cab . I've been playing with the 3D side of cad again  and drew up the interior . I know, me with an interior in a model.

The VMC is tied up so ....they're supposed to be ball and socket but spherical bearings work just fine .

Re: dresser TD40B dozer
How sweet it is when you have all the right tooling & the knowledge to use it to make whatever you want (I have no idea what I am talking about, I just assume it'd be sweet :D)... looking real good Steve
What's it weight getting to? |

look just like a real machine. The details are outstanding. This is probably the most realistic model of a dozer I have seen on this forum. Great work!! |

Re: dresser TD40B dozer
Just beautiful, a dream coming true for you Steve. To scratch build something like this is truly amazing. Like Joe, was just wondering what your weight currently is and what is the approximate total weight when finished? I have the RC4WD Dozer and it is just around 50 lbs, and ripping very hard clay is a challenge, which I like, but yours with all that steel should really dig, if you do add the ripper?

Re: dresser TD40B dozer
Nice job!!! Looks like you spent many hours on the track parts and drive....wow.....I would have run out of patients long before getting all the track pads on the links!! Lol. Keep up the nice work!!

Re: dresser TD40B dozer
I got my sabertooth 2x32 , it came with 2 resisters . I'm drawing a bit of a blank :o:confused:( brain on overload) as to where I'm supposed to put them . Across the motor leads ???
|
Re: dresser TD40B dozer
Steve-If I remember correctly you put one from each motor lead to the motor case. Been a while since I did this so you may want to check with someone else but I am pretty sure this is how I did it. Worked good, no radio glitches.

Re: dresser TD40B dozer
The Capacitors are to keep motors from sending emf noise out. If just 2 caps, they go from each lead to the motor can. 3 is better, with the other spanning both leads. Shorter legs are better so they can't act like antenna.

Re: dresser TD40B dozer
Guys these are resisters not capacitors . I'll have to contact dimension eng to see why they put the resisters in with no diagram as to placement .

Page 9 and 14 where it's talking about voltage clamps and braking? |
Re: dresser TD40B dozer
thanks frizzen, I downloaded it a while back . Brain is proper now and I read threw the publication again . It turns out they're not needed in this application . I bought this 1 from robot shop and not Dimension, it turns out they add stuff to the package for same price as from dimension .

Re: dresser TD40B dozer
Sorry to here about you having a bad ESC, those Sabertooth ESC's are usually very good, I've always had good results with them, that one might have been made on a Friday....lol.....sure you will get it figured out. Nice to see some paint on this build!!

What a Beast!!! Looking forward to seeing it perform in the dirt!

Re: dresser TD40B dozer
Looking very good Steve, all dozer project interesting to follow. Will for shure move dirt long before mine will.
Electrical drive is a must when building "smaller" model, wish I have done that from beginning. How long time will battery last when running? /Dan |
Re: dresser TD40B dozer
Great looking dozer!! Really like that it's not another cat, something different for a change!! What year is that machine? Is there also a spring and plunger behind the grease track tensioner??
KP |
Re: dresser TD40B dozer
This turned out really nice, it'll be great to see it in the dirt!

Dan I cycled each side with no load without the sabertooth with a 11.1V lipo 2100MaH batts, I got 21-25 mins when batt got to 11.5V . I'll be running on a 18.5V 10900MaH lipo . KP, yes spring behind grease ram a must . As for year, since I couldn't get the proper yellow, lets say the years of the Komatsu / Dresser merger . Right before they came out with the TD40C . Painted Komatsu yellow which Is the paint we got from the dealer to repaint my TD8E years ago . Cab interior should be tan, but the primer gray is close to komatsu's gray interior so I went with it . |
