Re: Great Dane excavating co.
I think the jig took about 30 min machine time. Just a couple to design. Well worth it for future projects.
Finally around to putting some clothes on this chunk of metal!! Was able to take partsup to a friends that has a big blasting cabinet with glass bead material. Really made shortsork of paint prepping. Several days of painting , many parts and several light coats to get good coverage. http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9plfhuqs.jpg http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...psilcfwhta.jpg http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...pscbdrffxx.jpg http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...psmdf2h1c0.jpg http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1dujftv0.jpg http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...psm22sptl2.jpg http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...psx2gkumfg.jpg |

Re: Great Dane excavating co.
Wow man!!! I have not been on in a while due to connectivity issues and the fact that I got super pi**ed off trying to make hydraulic cylinders a few months ago. My old lathe loves to cut a taper when I don't want it to....... Loader is turning out amazing! I feel guilty about my Tormach setting idle so i'm ready to get back in the saddle! I also may or may have not just sent a deposit to Fumotec......What tool are you using to get the "diamond" type pattern on the base of the cab? some type of engraving tool I guess? And what is the smallest endmill you have ran in the 1100? The detail work and lack of fasteners have made for a stunning model!
|
Re: Great Dane excavating co.
Sorry about late response, only way I access the forum I s from my iPhone and it takes forever if at all to open pages.
Smallest end mill I’ve used so far was a 1/16 4flute. Ran good and still have it. Was cutting the details on cutting edge of bucket. Mild steel. I do take the time to adjust run out on small cutters. As far as the deck pattern. I used a 1/8” 4flute 90 degree chamfer tool. I think I used a trace toolpath with -.025 stock to leave as a cam programming. And if you are referring the the offset faces as the diamond pattern on the cab that was just a simple contour with stepover of .005 with a 3/16 ballmill. |

Those are such wicked looking beasts!
Wait, you made 2 of the big ones? Oh, now i get it... http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...psnwfvsdi0.jpg That's really a mother wheel loader teaching it's young. |
Re: Great Dane excavating co.
Wow cooper-great job. The machines look amazing. Are you selling one or was you just having so much fun building that you could not stop with one. :D Looking forward to the video.

I LOVE this picture  lifting the RC4WD 870K wheeled loader. It really puts into perspective just how mammoth that behemoth of a machine really is!:jaw:

Nice job again Cooper!!!! Well done!!!
(Are you selling one of them??) KP |
Re: Great Dane excavating co.
thanks kp, I made one for a friend.
I finally got around to using a desktop computer because I has been almost impossible to access this site from my phone, let alone post any pics. so I am back at a learning curve again. http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...psyfma8jfo.jpg http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3ienahex.jpg http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...psngd2bxvu.jpg http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...psiqoe9vif.jpg http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...psdjbic6lp.jpg this is the project im working on now, making something useful. industrial sized soil screening plant. |
Re: Great Dane excavating co.
That's gona be cool! Can't wait to see how it turns out!

Re: Great Dane excavating co.
Thats going to be a heck of a conveyor system. Are the roller supports 3D printed?

http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...pspth8imh6.jpg http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...pscepuvvr5.jpg Things are just resting on each other. So just some idea if what this is going to look like. A lot more to do, two more conveyors to make. A lot of shrouds and covers. The big hopper to dump into, and I would like to have some sort of vibrating hopper to help with sticky materials. |

Re: Great Dane excavating co.
Looking real good. I like the change to the aluminum, much cleaner look without all the holes the steel had.
|
Re: Great Dane excavating co.
Thanks, after getting into this build I decided to go full on and try and make it look and function well. Also have to get my aluminum welding skills some experience. (Not too good at that).

Some more progress. Now have to work on the hopper. |
Re: Great Dane excavating co.
Looks awsome does the top conveyor feed the trommel and bottom gets rid of the waste?
|
Re: Great Dane excavating co.
duplicate. for some reason my other post wasn't showing up.
|
Re: Great Dane excavating co.
Yes, well that is the plan :). I'm in the process of building the hopper that trucks can dump into. That short top conveyor will feed into the rotating trommel. I forget the mesh size but what doesn't pass through will get another ride on another separate conveyor that will be detached and positional about 320 degrees. The material that gets sifted through will get a ride along long conveyor passing underneath trommel screen heading to yet another conveyor to the pile or wherever. Have to make the hopper and containment covers yet.
|
Re: Great Dane excavating co.
you need to make a conveyor that can be swung side to side.
like these from over the pond. its toward the end of video https://youtu.be/MLV8na3B02o I cant wait to see everything done and your equipment doing its thing |

And then I’ll find out what hidden problems will need addressing. And then possibly know if it will work |
Re: Great Dane excavating co.
Oh and the concept for this is to have a flat elevated dumping area about a 1/2” below hopper side. Trucks will back right up to hopper and dump full load. The haul truck I built will be able to back up and dump full load as well. But it may need to dump slowly depending on how well the amount of material can be processed. Loafers and excavators probably will not be able to keep up fast enough. At least that’s the target concept.

One more part, using 1/8” material for this. When I welded everything together I had some slight distortion on the screen roller. Had to cut the support rails to release the strain. I needed to make a shield at end anyway so make it out of 1/8” material instead or .063”. Taped down part for cutting. Will weld the two pieces together as that was what I had on hand. |

That's looking like a severe workhorse. What material are you using for the belt material. Had did you connect the ends of the belts together? I'm working on a much smaller version of this. Mine shall be fed by an excavator. I'm thinking the hoe feeds the grizzly, & what passes through the grizzly then goes through the screen plant. Mine is still in the drawing phases. I'm working on it with a friend that has the ability to machine the custom parts necessary to make it a reality. |
Re: Great Dane excavating co.
http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...psvis5rezl.jpg
I just watched an episode of gold rush (or something like that) and a guy had a trommel named dirt Reynolds,,, so I found a good name. “Joe dirt” :) Skeeter, I am using an urethane rubber for the belt. I’ll see if I can get you part number from McMaster. It is specific for conveyors. I could get it in 4” width and x length. As far as lacing the belt, my old sewing machine. Nylon thread. But it can be heat welded. I’ve tested that but I don’t have a heat welder just heat gun and my test pieces got abit warped. It works well just need to make some heated pliers or torch clamps. It’s not know how the longevity of the belt material will hold up. On the discharge conver of the fine material I think no problem. On the input conveyor in the hopper I need to find out. That’s where rocks/sharps will be present. If not good there I’ll just use a straight roller system and other material. Reason I choose this material was overall thickness that will allow the belting to conform to “u” shaped roller assemblies |
Re: Great Dane excavating co.
Interesting project !! 👍👍
Well done.....as usual !! |
Re: Great Dane excavating co.
The end wanted to lift some , probably due to inconsistency of abs pipe I used for tube. Not being perfectly round enabled it to track a bit odd, so I made another clamp roller to keep it in-line. Always hidden issues.
http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...psdhtvny2k.jpg http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...psrdbs4mom.jpg This adds rigidity to the roller beam but allows a little side wobble to keep tune in rollers. And cut some vinyl decals for the name http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...pssv9k6wyt.jpg http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/...psly1wxuxw.jpg |
