Reg, you are an animal! The way you crank out the models you build, no one can keep up with you. The amazing part is you still get the details too.

Nice color choice!
I met a Hayes in similar colors (maybe identical, my memory is foggy) between Port Alberni and Bamfield in 1998. It scared me a bit, we don't have that size of trucks out here on the East Coast. :)

Seems to work just as good as it looks, which is great.

Yes, that's exactly what I was going for with the color!:D I spent quite a bit of time in that area camping with my parents back in the 80's and early 90's. MacMillan Bloedel had a large camp there (Franklin River Division) and that is how I plan to have the decals made for this truck. The camp is long gone and so is M&B so this is my little tribute.

What's next for me? I am not sure! I have some customer projects that need my attention and the summer months are typically busy with work outside the hobby so there probably won't be anything big going on until the fall at least. I want to scratch build a dozer and have been collecting photos and specs for months so if I can find the time I would like to do that. It will be in 1/10th scale.

Thanks for all the compliments on this truck!

Reg

This turned out amazing Reg, great job as always!

Can't wait to see the 1/10 scale dozer, you going with old school cable lift or hydraulic on the blade?

Thanks very much! My plan is to build a D8H or K so it will be hydraulic or at least look that way;). I think the high-track Cat's are cool but I have always had a fancy for older equipment so I think an old late 60's early 70's D8 with a logging arch and winch is the direction I will go. It will be a good match up to sit beside my 955K.

I vote for the D8K, a favorite of mine, never got to spend enough time on them!

Hey Reg, I watched a neat video on youtube, about forming aluminum with a "t" post.
Thought you might enjoy it, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBUoG6V8abQ

Hahaha, I'm like a fish...I sleep with my eyes open!lol

I haven't done a lot more to the HD over the last few days but I finally got my order of Orange RX's from Hobbyking so I installed one of the 6ch and cleaned up the wiring under the hood. Soon I will try to install some windows...

The close up of your truck shows some pretty nice paint! :D You must not have used a brush or roller on that one. The finish looks great. You do alright for someone who doesn't enjoy painting. :D

Re: Hayes HD dump truck...RCP's style

Thanks guys. The paint is far from good but good from a far if you know what I mean... The first coats went on really well. The second coats a few days later not so much. I have done a little polishing here and there but will do some more once the paint is good and hard.

I installed the front windows and such today so I thought it was time for an outdoor photo shoot!

Awesome pictures. What a feeling it must be to have something so nice you built from scratch and the only one like it anywhere! Nice job Bro, what's next?

Thanks. I wouldn't call it a scratch build but i guess it is close. Either way i am proud of how it turned out. One thing is for sure, there isn't another one like it!

I didn't spend much time in the shop today as it was my wife's day off and i wanted to putter around outside with her instead of being cooped up inside. While she was busy working on something I did manage to make these horns up.:cop:

I guess they don't really look 100% correct but by the time I mount them along with the clearance lights it should look pretty good. I machined a slight angle into the bottom of them so they will sit horizontal on the sloped roof once mounted.

Beautiful! I just noticed all the other details I somehow over looked. The radius arms for the front axle, the exhaust pipe running down and forward towards the engine, the air tanks, and plumbing. Love those outdoor photos too. The air horns look great. Your front window gaskets are nice too. That can't be the same stuff you used on your big trucks, is it?

Thanks Nate. I was trying my best to keep things looking as authentic as possible while running stock Tamiya drivetrain. The real 4640 diffs look a lot different than any available RC stuff so there wasn't much I could do there short of making my own. The steering should be different as well but to keep it simple I left things fairly stock up front too. I knew if I started to make all of this stuff from scratch the truck wouldn't be done in time for the July truck show. The window gaskets are just wiper blades like on the other trucks. I searched through the used wipers i have hoarded and found some that were a little narrower than what I used on the KW. They are a bit too wide but will do the job good enough!

Reg
