Re: CAT 374D L
Nice work as always Ari.
I guess it's so powerful due to the size of the rams? Am I correct in thinking that the bigger the ID of the cyclinders the more powerful they are? What's your thoughts on the Kampfer ventil/valves? |
Re: CAT 374D L

On the down side they also need more capasity from the pump and also larger hydraulic lines. My cylinders have 18 mm bore, so they are not that large. I'm very pleased with the Kampfer valves so far:) |
Re: CAT 374D L
superb work here...! really amazing to look at..again and again..

Re: CAT 374D L
I've been working with the counterweight and it's turn out to be nightmare to make:mad: I wish I were able to make it like Steve (ihbuilder) in one piece, but my cam program won't do 3D (I think)
I also did some welding on the counterweight with Durafix but it really does not work well when you have to brace different thicknesses together. The thinner plate tends to expand more while heating and it goes curved, and when everything cools down and shrinks, it doesn't look too good:mad: I'm seriously thinking about buying small TIG welder, it looks like you can make very small welds with it without heating the parts too much. Been watching Reg's Kenworth 850 build and hope I can some day learn to weld that well:) http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k...ps931c60b5.jpg |
Re: CAT 374D L
Ari you have nothing to be ashamed of when it comes to your work you have a talent. Ed;)
|
Re: CAT 374D L
Thanks for the ego boost! I think a TIG would serve you very well Ari. It can be a little challenging at times especially when welding two different thicknesses of material(at least for me). It would be nice for you to be able to weld together some things instead of drilling and threading for fasteners. CNC cut panels would weld together sooooo nice! Keep up the great work! This machine is awesome!

Re: CAT 374D L
Ari anything can be fixed with filler and paint. ;) your build is killer looking!!!!
|
Re: CAT 374D L
Ari, great job there!
Maybe you should get better CAM? Also for that one part, why not try a demo of some powerful program? You could get the part done even if you don't buy the 10k per year CAM system :p  Just some thoughts;) That shiny aluminium looks so good, maybe you don't paint it?:D |
Re: CAT 374D L
Ari , what cam are you using ? I had a few issues at 1st but the more I use it the better I get .

Absolutely beautiful!

Re: CAT 374D L
Its an epic build, amazing how scale it looks!
How much does it weigh now? |
Re: CAT 374D L

It weighs 24 kilos now without batteries and counterweight fillings. When finished I believe it will be close to 30 kg. |

Re: CAT 374D L
I started to fit the pump and the oil tank to there place. I also mount the valves. I will attach one more block to the valve assembly for some future needs.

Re: CAT 374D L
WOW! I just finished going thru the entire thread!
I would love to see a a bit more of you taking a new part from the drawing into the computer and machining it. This would be a great "how it's made" style video! Jim |
Re: CAT 374D L
I work with the undercarriage today:)
I chanced the track recoil springs more stiffer and adjusted the tracks to correct tension. I added pair of track guides too. Also there was many  bolts and spacers missing which I added. http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k...psa9102083.jpg http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k...ps20df5408.jpg http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k...ps0c376a43.jpg http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k...psfafe4e2d.jpg http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k...ps86fa4fb5.jpg http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k...psf1d23060.jpg |

Impressive Ari!!

Re: CAT 374D L
Beautiful work Ari. Build of the year winner again for sure! I'm really looking forward to see it digging some dirt.

Re: CAT 374D L
Incredible work on this machine. The build quality and detail is just over the top!
Don't ever paint it...just clear coat everything and leave it bare.:D |
Re: CAT 374D L
THE best build I have seen so far on all forums !
|
Re: CAT 374D L
Thanks guys for the nice words:o
I got the fourth block to the valve assembly and made some more work with hoses:) http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k...ps04e89a12.jpg http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k...psae95bc5c.jpg http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k...psc575db8a.jpg http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k...ps25daea49.jpg |
Re: CAT 374D L
So what is the plan for the fourth valve? Top secret?
|
Re: CAT 374D L
Hi-flow for a mulching head? Eh?
|
Re: CAT 374D L
I actually have no plans for the extra valve yet, it's just easier to put it there at this stage:)
http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k...ps1c740782.jpg |
Re: CAT 374D L
Sure keep it a secret!:p
|
Re: CAT 374D L
Add a couple more "dummy" hyd lines for electrical accessories, like remote quick-tach coupler and/or screening bucket. ;)
