Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
I am so sick of polishing ! what I first thought was fun and relaxing has become a very challenging hurdle and frustrating to say the least:(
Anyway, one trailer side panel is done and gets the green light for assembly. Everything went well yesterday and it looks great.... the other panel I worked on today seemed to get worse the more I touched it:eek::mad: So, enough polish work for now. I needed something I enjoy doing so I switched gears and wired up and assembled the panel that's ready.....here it is so far:D..... http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s26fc25f8.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...sffedb4a2.jpeg After installing the inner panel I mounted to the base plate and did a light check. All works great:) http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...sb37b3ce9.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...sef0b1a44.jpeg Thanks for looking. Any comments and suggestions always appreciated :) Mario |
Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
I suggest you keep doing what you're doing cause it looks "F"ing awesome! If you can make Aluminum that reflective you're doing something right! Wanna polish the billet wheels off my S-10?:p
|
Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
Mario , I don't blame you  I've done 100's of wheels :jaw: I've decided to try out a pro polishin place nearby . they do 1:1 wheels , I showed them the lil 1's and literally :jaw::jaw::D

Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!

Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
Awesome job on the polishing!! The lights look great.
|
Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
Mario, I know you weren't happy with the results of your polishing, but all I can say is dang, that's almost chrome like! I wouldn't complain!
|
Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
Looks amazing! The only thing I would change is make the last side marker light red. Just my 2 cents!

Billet wheels??... Bring em on! Lol Quote:
So does the polishing place have any tools small enough to work on your wheels? :) lol Quote:

Also happy the polishing is almost done! Just have the tailgate to do and that's it!:) Quote:
Thanks though, I may use that idea on my Reefer;) Mario |

we'll see this week :D I know they do a superb job on the 1:1 stuff |
Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
Your patience may have worn thin and I might've heard a few swear words but your hard work has paid off. It looks awesome. Thanks for allowing me time to get other things done while you worked on my trailer. :)

Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!

Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
Hey Mario and Sue ..Just read through your thread..awsome you guys are doing a great job and like your Fleet ..Wish you guys were closer though ...Anyway what kind of plans do you have in store for your back doors of the trailer Mario ..I was at the local metal recycle last week and picked up a small sheet of of diamond plate aluminum 30 x 20 im guessing ..The diamonds are about 1/8 x 1/4 .Looks to be very scale for back doors ..Was a little dirty but i got out my special polish and in about 5 minutes i had a nice section done ..If your intrested i could send you pics..Oh BTW Auto Glym ..check it out ..Good polish ..Keep up the good work

I will definitely check out auto Glym  So the trailer is coming together real nice. Box is assembled, I stripped the frame , painted the rails and re assembled this weekend. Just starting the testing of all the wiring and so far everything is working perfectly on the first try! Lights! Check, Box up and down! Check! http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s4f78f69d.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s151d07b7.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...sf4567c0a.jpeg And then, as I sat looking at the trailer I had an idea??? I like the open wheel look of the tri axle and was happy with it when I suddenly remembered I have a bunch of fenders compliments of a forum member I got months ago and because of Sue's truck having the same style fenders I thought this might look good? http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s3d70bad3.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...se3ed8319.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s3c4f7a71.jpeg I think I will hook up the truck and trailer tomorrow for a better look but I'm really liking the fender idea. I would mount the fenders to the axles just like her truck and keep them low and tight to the tires. Please let me know what you think:) Mario |
Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
Looks awesome Mario! I think the fenders matching her truck would be killer! Nice job on the polishing! Looks amazing!
|
Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
Mario - you might have to hack the lights off the pivot brackets and mount to the rear fender set.
Check when full open. Izzy |
Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
Great job Mario, trailer is looking sharp.

The polish turned out to be worth the time and sweat that went into it. :jaw: Quote:
Thank you Izzy! I'm glad you pointed that out. I'm still learning the patience part of the hobby and make sure to check clearances before diving into something! The fenders will have to wait for now anyway. Our first RC show is only a month away and I have so much other stuff I need to get done for that! Maybe in time for Indy? Or a next winter project.;) Quote:

Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
My Bad Mario ..For some reason I thought it was a van trailer you were building ..Yes Izzy dump trailer looks awsome ..and great job on the polishing ..Alot of work involved in doing stuff like that but well worth the outcome..nice work

Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
No bad Lou, thanks for the kind words and suggestion:cool: please PM me some pics of the material you mentioned. I think it may work perfect on our reefer for sure!
I was working away on Sue's trailer today and mentioned to Susan that our first RC meet is coming very soon ( 30 days to be precise !) I told her how I still had work to do on the loader and build an area for us to load her truck and haul dirt at the show.....that's when she looked at me and said....." Maybe I'm not ready to put stuff in my trailer yet!"....:eek::confused::confused:! I'm so confused!??? Did I make it too shiny??? Now we can't haul dirt with it??:jaw: Our Fleet may look like shelf queens but they run on more gravel than asphalt! I wanna load that trailer! I guess my problem isn't getting things done in the next month, it's convince Susan to baptize the trailer by the end of the month!:jaw: lol Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated:):D Mario |

JK...its a good idea Chris. The loader is down right now but once I get this trailer done I can get the loader running and let her give it a go!:) Small update on the trailer. Today was a good day. Wired up the taillights, rear marker lights, and put the body back on the frame once and for all!:D Pics of the lights wired.... http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...sc8a56bb9.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s3233354e.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...s9a1c3e10.jpeg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...sc7a1e4c8.jpeg the mudflaps are just for now until I do the fenders for it. The best part of today was testing the screw drive with my new 11.1V lipo. I tried with one of my 7.2V Nimh but it was so slow. Now with more juice the speed is much better and we are very happy with the results:D http://youtu.be/Hss4o09pG8w Thanks for looking. Tell me what ya think :) Mario |
Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
Trailer looks awesome Mario:D and no its not to shiny can't wait to see it at indy:cool:
|
Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
Nice job

Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
Sorry Guys, teaching me to run the loader isn't going to change my mind, at least not at this moment. LOL. This truck and trailer has been in the works for almost a year. and I want to keep it shiny and clean for just a little while, that's just the way I am. I do that with my everyday vehicle and school bus too once they are clean and shiny. I have an idea for my first cargo but don't think I can do it at the shows....Mario has been working hard and it looks amazing.

Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
I was going to wait till completion but once again couldn't help myself:eek::D.
The dump trailer is almost complete, just have to polish, wire and install the tailgate:). We still plan on fenders in the future but for now mudflaps will do. So here it is, truck n trailer for the first time:) Such a mess of wires, I thought rather than make it look neat.... Cover it up! Lol http://youtu.be/-LGaWxnLDvQ Black passion and her new trailer.... I figured I would shut up in this video and enjoy the sounds and sights:rolleyes::D:D http://youtu.be/1mA__LGPtv4 Thanks for looking  Mario |
Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
Mario, it's awesome!!! Great job on pulling the whole thing together. Every piece of it compliments the next. Very nice.

Wow, really nice work Mario and Sue! Love the lights, and the spit shine polish! I can see why you don't want to get it dirty. :D
|
Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
The way I see it Sue, if he polished it once he can polish it again so get it dirty! Lol
Sorry Mario!:p |

Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
So it's all about dirty trailer or not? Any idea how dirty I got sanding and polishing!?? I probably contracted some type of aluminum inhalation symptoms? I think I heard it can make you lose your memory but I can't remember....:p
So after all that, I think it only fair it's time for the trailer to get dirty! I have no issues with some dirt, what I fear and want to avoid are scratches:eek::eek::eek: The trailer is too big, heavy and awkward to run on the dryer motor wheel now:eek::D I wish there was a magic spray I could apply to seal and capture the shine we have and never worry about it again but..... Yeah, right! Lol Mario |
Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
The bad thing about loading or running it in the dirt is that the sides will get dusty, and when you wipe or clean the trailer off, the fine dust will scratch it! :D

Just keep in mind my loader is a bruder conversion, not the real deal, so no plans on real backyard dirt for now. I'm thinking , various wood chips ( chain saw chips and sawmill chipper stuff.) moist floor dry perhaps and rubber grind like the stuff at Indy last year. Now that its all together I see a flaw in my assembly already! I should have connected dump body wiring to chassis with a connector instead of hard wiring from box right to the board! Oh well , if it needs to come apart in the future, that's when I'll install a junction block of some sort.
