Re: RCLogger
Hey Joe The D8R is up North working, should see some video's at some point.
Neil I use 18 volt for the drive motor's, you could use 12. I like the speed of the 18 volt when backing up the machine. It is to fast to go wide open blading though.. Attached is some new video as the weather is finally warming up and less rain.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9jJrjuARbw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwwLc...eature=related |
Re: RCLogger
Thank's Greg, I'm not a speed demon when it come's to dozer's. I've had to put up with worn out Cat D6R's at work, 3rd gear with worn out chain's, sound's awful! And I'm just sitting in my dumptruck, waiting for them to push off a lift.
Later, Neil#2 aka doodlebug. |
Re: RCLogger
Great videos Greg. The excavator digging below/under itself looks cool.
|
Re: RCLogger
Great video Greg, keep them coming:cool:
|
Re: RCLogger
The dozer is very pleasing to watch in operation. I wish I had the time to build one of those someday.
|
Re: RCLogger
Hey Greg,
Can you tell me what pump you have in your excavator as it looks much faster than the pump I have in the Wedico excavator. I think I should change mine to have it operate at a more realistic speed. Thanks Paul |
Re: RCLogger
Thanks for all the comments guys
Paul: I do enjoy the speed of my excavator, between the hyd and the swing speed it is alot of fun to operate. As far as the hyd, I use a liembach 450ml pump as I am almost always moving at least two functions at a time. ( stick/boom or stick/bucket ) Need to move as much oil as possible, also I use the 2.5 size hyd line to also help move the oil. cheers greg |
Re: RCLogger
Thanks Greg,
Is this the standard pump in the Wedico models? As I know they use the Liembach pump and valve equipment. Paul |
Re: RCLogger
Nice videos, the machines works like real ones (and there´s a good operator to).
Can´s wait to get my D8 running. What´s your next model?? Dan |
Re: RCLogger
Next project?
How about a Madill loader:D |

Good idea Jordy, maybe a Madill Here is a short vid of the first nice day of the year http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCQLE-qrudQ |
Re: RCLogger
Looks like you need a Euclid to help build some more road.
;) |
Re: RCLogger
Nice Greg. I don't recall seeing the truck and drag in the past.?
Ben |
Re: RCLogger
You really got a good pack pounding out that grade last wk with the dozer to get around as well as you did with the KH on smooth grips. :D
It sure has been ugly here too, haven't turned a wheel in two wks & it was raining again today... all day. |
Re: RCLogger
RCP57: Could alway use some help moving dirt.lol
Snochaser: The truck is my logging truck with the rigging off, the low bed trailer has been in the fleet for a while, it is alittle light on the construction so it will surely break in half one day.. Lil G: The dirt is wet and heavy due to the rain showers almost everyday.. Here is a yarding video, I was surprised that I could still operate it...lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3o2d...eature=related |
Re: RCLogger
Greg Great video, even better if those bozos in the background weren't talking.
Rob |
Re: RCLogger
Great video Greg. Getting some good camera angles.
|
Re: RCLogger
looking good buddy keep up the good work like the yarder and the backspare set up.you ever think of making a dead man that would be a good video rigging up. take it eazy

Re: RCLogger
Hey Greg, I was wondering where do you get the track drive chain from? I spoke to western equipment in vic and although it's expensive:eek: they can get it but it will take 6 weeks. Apparently their supplier makes it up per order and sells it by the foot. I need at least 5-6 feet and would like it yesterday... I know it's my fault for not planning ahead but you know how it is...
Thanks Reg |
Re: RCLogger
WOW What happened to the summer, the calender says it is September now and Iam thinking work is going to slow down and some modeling can get done.
I have not had much time to keep up with the thread, it will take some time to catch up. I see there is some very nice models being built and also working. Here is a few more photo's of the truck show last weekend. Joe ! Out of practice, forgot to take video ! ! http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...ept2011008.jpg |

Re: RCLogger
You guys will have to make a trip down island sometime so we can set up a bigger operation:D I have just the right spot:cool:
Thanks again for the invite to Port, I wish I could have been there sunday too. Reg |
Re: RCLogger
Had some time this past weekend and started on a winter project, I found some material at the hardware store that was interesting. I am using it to make a track pad that is a cross between a excavator pad and a dozer pad....

Re: RCLogger
Now where were you on that one when I built the tracks for my 955. Haha just kidding Greg! That has a good look to it though. Looks a lot like the track pads on our real 955.
What section of the hardware store was that in?....... Reg |
Re: RCLogger
Greg, you've been busy. The cross section looks real good. How much did you have to remove from the top bar to fit it in. And Reg it's in the flooring section, but it's too late he bought it all.
Rob |
Re: RCLogger
HAHA! Yeah Rob your probably right!
|
Re: RCLogger
Nice tracks Greg, what is this metal from?
|
Re: RCLogger
So what have you got cooking now Greg?
Perhaps that Cat high tracked skidder? (I've forgotten its number) |
Re: RCLogger
Hey guys
The pad top and bottom are Dura-Alunimum from building supply stores. I just happend to see the groves alun and thought that it may add to the pads... It comes in 8 foot lengths. Joe: I am starting on new undercarrages for hyd log loader. Still have to figure out how to build a CAT 527 skidder and be able to fit everything into it ! Here is the process I used to make the pads. http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...2/build003.jpg http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...2/build004.jpg |

Re: RCLogger

Re: RCLogger
I had some shop time and was waiting on parts for another project so I thought I should start a heavy hauler..

Re: RCLogger
Not sure if it will have ramps on the back or if I will add a beaver tail ! Looks like it will take the weight..

Re: RCLogger
Your last one was made from laminated balsa wood, how's it holding up?
|
Re: RCLogger
RC Logger, what kind of mill do you have? I'd love to see you build a Cat 527! You've already got the high drive tracks figured out. The trailer looks strong. Does the Tamiay semi truck suspension bottom out with the weight of the dozer on the trailer?
|
Re: RCLogger
Greg nice work on the trailer and the track pads. The pads really stand out. Ed

I have been looking at the Cat 527 for a few years now, but the size is small and it would be hard to fit the hyd into. May have to go electric and then it would be fine...;) The truck is bottomes out when the Cat is on the trailer as the Cat is in the 25 plus pounds area... greg |
Re: RCLogger
I have got the bulk of the construction done on the new lowbed, just have paint and trim left to do. Attached is two short video's loading equipment, I think it will get the job done..
