Re: Steamer
The stacks look great! Did you score this truck on E-Bay, or was it something you had saved in a closet? These things are getting harder to find all the time.

Re: Steamer
Nathan, TNT Lou was cleaning out his closet and I just happened to be there at the right time. I always wanted to build a mining truck and this was a great opportunity to do a conversion.

Re: Steamer
Digging dirt. After a while being away from the forum, I thought that I better start doing something. Greg Lou and I have been slowly rearranging Greg's backyard lawn. So far we've been ruining everything through a temporary screening plant and it hard to believe there's been this much rock.
http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...gsplace002.jpg Here's a picture of the screen and Lou's been digging it out and loading the FWD with his Cat 966. http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...rt/ICAT006.jpg Vid http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...th_ICAT004.jpg On the loading side Greg's been putting some hours on the new Cat excavator and it's been preforming great. this winter he's going to finish building the cab and all the finishing touches. Vid http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...th_ICAT003.jpg FWD after moving dirt from the screening plant. http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...gsplace009.jpg Greg's new Cat without the cab, working real good. http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...gsplace006.jpg General shot of the area. http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...gsplace005.jpg Thanks for looking. Are you guys still planning on attending the show in Port a couple weeks from now? Reg |
Re: Steamer
Thing have been getting real busy here on the Island, so it was time to pick up some new equipment. Found this Aeromax that fills the bill, so we picked up.
http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...Aeromax004.jpg Just need some conversions, so it's going to get a 6 tooth pinion and a wet pack for a dump trailer and some construction tires and it'll be go to go. http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...Aeromax006.jpg Thanks for looking. Rob |
Re: Steamer

Re: Steamer
Aeromax update.
Well I'm glad to say that the Aeromax finally came to an end. Got all the conversions done and now can put it to work. The trailer started out as a transfer and is now just a modified dump. I left the movable box and installed a king pin so I could pull it with the Aeromax. Some Pictures http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...trailer002.jpg http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...trailer013.jpg http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...trailer017.jpg http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...trailer015.jpg I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out and I hope I can put it to work soon. Thanks for looking Rob |

Re: Steamer
It's sitting on my kitchen table as of five minutes ago. Just looking at it trying to remember where I left off. Been putting off building the two stage dump cylinders but now have no excuses left, so I guess it's time. There different as the oil is fed through the rod and not the cylinder so that going to take some thought
http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...20789C/744.jpg It's been painted so I'll get some shots up. Someone else wanted to know about the wheels and rims, so I'll do that too. Thanks for the comments on the Aeromax. Rob |
Re: Steamer
Rob. The aeroMax looks very good. Well a little to good, I can't wait to get it dirty and smash the box up. Lol.
P.S. Those mud flaps are not going to look that clean for to long Greg |
Re: Steamer

Re: Steamer
Just an update of the wheel system. I turned the rims from delron and on the back made it one rim with a two tire bead.
http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/.../Cat789009.jpg To hold the wheels on I embedded 3/16" rod into the hubs with epoxy to drive the rims. http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...Cat7890082.jpg picture of rim from front and rear. http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/.../Cat789010.jpg http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/.../Cat789011.jpg A couple of shot with the painted and installed rims. http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...Cat7890052.jpg http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...Cat7890132.jpg Ive also started on the cylinders and here's the first results. http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/.../Cat789014.jpg When I get a little further along with the cylinders I'll post some more pictures. Thanks for looking. Rob |
