Re: KH Beam Hauler
How do you like the little chop saw? Is that one of the Micro-Mark ones? I've got a project I'm planning that is going to call for a ton of brass cutting and I'm thinking of getting one.

How to avoid cutting fingers in a 12 inch chopsaw this is great for small pieces. A few things to think of. 1. weak motor stall easy. Use cutting oil and it cut easy. 2. sawblade get clogged easy. Use more cutting oil. Problem solved. 3. Take your time and don't overcharge the sucker...... job done. 4. Did i mentioned screw it to a sturdy surface.........otherwise you will mess up your work of art. Have Fun. Is it the best saw out there ??? Probably NOT but for $34.99 i will say it's doing a lot of cutting. |

The Globe was crawling around pretty good in the excellent dirt. The ESC finally gave up after 25 years of abuse.

Re: KH Beam Hauler
Not a stupid question at all. Thanks for asking. Most of the transport is done on the road......when you come to a construction site things get a lil tricky. Some sites spend a bit of planning and grade a decent entry some don't. In this case i was a bit curious how well or not this setup could access different arias. I got stuck a few times....ugh ! The bumper on The front of The BO-Dog is a bit to low for off road. and just standard Tamiya axles and tires does work quite well. Next time you see this one, it will be equipped with Lesu axles and diff lock. New Motor and ESC is also needed. Flaggs and marking in general was missing....Running out of time as usual before a meet. When moving things on special permit things get a bit interesting an some normal rules goes out the windows. The extension-rod on the truck is retractable by a little motor under the frame, so i can pull normal trailers too. Hope this clear some of the questions.

Re: KH Beam Hauler
Forgot to say i run a 4 channel radio in this truck. Need to change that to 7 channel at least for next show .

The more you care when you build the truck the longer it last. However there is a problem with quality of casting plastic parts. For some reason the same part from different kits, one can fall apart and the other is strong and good. On the other side i don't think Tamiya could imagine what we do to our trucks when they started this back in the day. |

A smooth 12v brushed esc I've been using in my tam trks is Mtronics Viper Marine 15A... I can't recall if I ever had one fail

After inspection of the Globe. I found out several problems. 1. Four days before Cabin Fever i purchased a brand new 4 Ch Spektrum Receiver to get one more funktion for the Rod/drawbar to retract when i pull regular trailers. That stopped working in reverse. 2. The ESC witch is a Novak Super Rooster had a cracked solder. So now it is fixed, solder the board in the ESC and one new receiver. No cost just i tiny bit of work...........Life is good ! Back to the Tamuder and finish that one. :bounce: |
Re: KH Beam Hauler
Brilliant work bo. Loving seeing the set ups. Amazing an esc can last so long!
