Hay DB great job how did the cylinders hold up dumping that full load? You put a lot of thought in to this one and turned out spectacular. Ed

Re: Great Dane excavating co.

Thanks ed, first time testing with cylinders they leaked a little bit. And then more,,, I took them apart and found some significant scratches on them and first stage tube wasn't 100% round. Tough getting seamless tubes perfectly round. Some re working and re-polishing brought them back. When I was working the air out of them the left side continued to leak. But after about 8-10 cycles they completely stopped leaking!! I'm not aware of the rings swellig but whatever was leaking past seals stopped. :). I did install larger hoses from valve to cylinders (6mm lines) to help with cycle speeds. As far as lifting capabilities, whatever I can put in , it will dump. And haven't changed psi yet , still running around 100 psi. I'm going to have pump speed 100% when lift cylinders are engaged and running around 49-50% when just using steering cylinders. Also have to tame down initial starting and stopping. Will do that with radio settings. A lot of weight and stress on driveline, don't want to snap it :). I'm my opinion I would Ike to see more top speed but can't sacrifice the bottom end torque. She is probably going to be more slow driven than fast.

All the fast driving haul truck videos end up with the
Haul truck on its roof or side. Go slow keep the rubber
Side down and the shiny side up

Go see the guy down the road with the feed scale
I don't think the scale at brookville was accurate

Cooper 11-26-2016 03:55 PM

Re: Great Dane excavating co.

Have to find a scale, the one I had was for mailing stuff, plastic and don't think is goes over 40#. Have one somewhere??? Like all my hats and gloves for winter,, can't find them!! Moving and now don't know where stuff got to. I moved everything in big black trash bags. ???? Hopefully they aren't in landfill!!!

Got to put a few hours on her before I would think of selling:). But I'm a realist, everything is for sale,, for the right price:).

Well DB it works maybe not exactly perfect but it works. You will get the cylinders to were they are perfect as usual it is trial and error but I have confidence in you. Ed

Truck looks great Cooper-lots of good details and the color is spot on. Seems to work great also. Can't ask for any more than that! Personally, I would like to see you build a big cable shovel to load this with but that's just me. Good job!!

Starting to get ready for cabin fever,, I want to redo this conveyors drive unit, placing it at top and then I figure we can have as many excavators as possible dumping into it conveying material to the haul truck :).

Started working on marks d11.5. Same motors as in mine. Going to use #25 chain and sprockets to gear down the finals. 11 and 24-26? Tooth sprockets. Started by cutting shafts and motor castings down.

And some nice distractions in the shop,, when I had ditch open to garage I ran cable also :). Pulled tv from camper and found a wall mount. It may be a shop distraction?!??

That was a great game for the Steelers. My son got married Saturday and they were staying at a hotel at Station Square but they were woken up 3am this morning from rowdy NY fans banging on all the doors on their floor. Pittsburgh cops came and evicted angry fans:cop:. All happened in room across from him.:D

Nice start on that conveyor. I bought a couple industrial conveyors last week and they should be here this week. I think one will work perfectly under my crusher.

I'm going to Disneyland !!! Lol!!! Well guess cabin fever is our Disneyland!! You done harvest and ready for a few months of stayin warm?? Hope ya had a good harvest this year, I saw a couple setbacks with mom nature.
One thing about his dozer, it's got the weight!! I think they have access to a laser jet , maybe water jet but edges look vitrified. Whatever it is I wish I had access to one, I would be making everything from steel!! I've had good success with the drive train in my dozer so pretty much copying that. I'll post some more pics of it once I get a couple more pieces cut and fit.

RW, What are the dimensions of your truck? I started getting the rock crusher ready. I need to make sure your bed will clear between the fly wheels on the crusher.
