Re: Actros SLT 8x4
Hi Stu, truck looks great, what RPM is the geared motor that you installed? I have one for a different application and thought about using it in a truck.
|
Re: Actros SLT 8x4
That's a lot of wheels for such a short truck!!! Nice and simple underneath though and I like it!
Another motor question... Where did you source it from and how much did it cost if you don't mind me asking. |
Re: Actros SLT 8x4
Nice! For some reason I have a thing for 4 axle trucks. This is one of the more unique configurations for sure. Awesome.
|
Re: Actros SLT 8x4
Thanks guy's
The motor is 450 rpm@12 volts, its a Servonaut GM32U450 Not the cheapest I'm sure but so smooth and quiet and all the German builders seem to use them so must be good! Stu |
Re: Actros SLT 8x4
Thanks for the info Stuart, it looks just like the geared motors from Servo City.

Re: Actros SLT 8x4
Hi Stu, a nice clean build and an interesting colour choice for the Actros! Love it.
Where did you get the trailer? Looks the business. |
Re: Actros SLT 8x4
Stephan the trailer looks like a Carson Goldhofer
|
Re: Actros SLT 8x4
Thank you Tracy!

Re: Actros SLT 8x4

It was going to be white but in the end wanted something different so had my local car repair shop mix the gold for me, was my first time spraying a water based paint system but happy with the outcome. Still un-decided on whether to paint the rear fenders gold and the wheels black, any sugestions??? |
Re: Actros SLT 8x4
Hi Stu, thanks for confirming on the trailer.
As for paint ... why not do rear fender same colour as the chassis rails? Wheels black ... might be a tad too much black. Did a quick photoshop of it so you get an idea what it would look like. (I just copied and sized the black front rim so perspective might be a tad weird) http://i1282.photobucket.com/albums/...psxckht0ie.jpg |

Although I was thinking of gloss black for the chassis and wheels and then gold for the fenders with maybe gold hubs on the wheels, is that something you could photoshop up?? In the meantime a little progress: http://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9b0ea9dt.jpg http://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/...psummbrjex.jpg http://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/...psowu4g2op.jpg http://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/...pshog5hoo2.jpg Stu |

A couple of pics from last Sunday's expo in Mayenne:
http://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/...psiyiqa0lw.jpg http://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/...pslgminf7x.jpg Started on the new ramps for the Goldhofer, with some help from my 9yr old daughter! http://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/...pstbpgggdm.jpg http://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/...psk1gdwvo0.jpg http://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/...psragtjcbf.jpg Stu |
Re: Actros SLT 8x4

|
Re: Actros SLT 8x4

Re: Actros SLT 8x4
Hi Stuart,
Those ramps look the business, are you going to operate them manual or are you planning an electric or hydraulic system? |

WOW, looks like we will get some interesting updates on this :)

Re: Actros SLT 8x4
Beautiful truck but you're trailer looks way to short behind it...

Re: Actros SLT 8x4
Id put it on the trailer so any truck can use the hydro ramps on the goldhofer
|
Re: Actros SLT 8x4
Nice machining. You have a promising machinist helping you! I would put the pump on the trailer as Cossett suggests.

Re: Actros SLT 8x4
That is some nice work there! Way above my skill level! :) Must have been a trifle difficult to get the supports for the rotating lights so exact.
I guess you are going to run the electrical cables through the support? |

Re: Actros SLT 8x4
Started on the equipment rack, decided to put the pump and valves on the truck, the 3mm pipe seems very flexible so we'll see how it turns out, waiting on quick couplers now...

I like the brass rack, nicely constructed!

Re: Actros SLT 8x4
Well well smart mate

Re: Actros SLT 8x4
Hi Stu. Great idea to stuff the hydraulics in there, this is going to look really neat once finished.
