all dressed up and nowhere to go
You know the feeling when you get a little carried away when ordering parts, got this in the post today, 2,7 kilo around 4,5 pounds of aluminium, and I still havenĀ“t ordered a truck for the parts, guess its gonna be a grand hauler.

Re: all dressed up and nowhere to go
Should look great! Good plastic work, Styrene is really great to work with.

Re: all dressed up and nowhere to go
Rene - nice fill work.
Travis taught me to take a seperately bottle of our styrene glue and put little pieces of styrene in it from our cutting and carvings. The pieces disolve and add filler to the glue. Helps fill moderate gaps. |

Thank you Izzy, as mentioned above, it pretty much my first real attempt with styrene, I got an old bottle of glue where the tube is broken, I'll try to put some of the shavings in it ;) |
Re: all dressed up and nowhere to go
Got a little more work done last night, cut a new frame stretched 6 centimeters or 2.1/4 inch, fitted aluminium rear axles, and a true scale dropped front axle.
first pic it got the tamiya front axle, and second one is the true scale dropped front axle http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps2vf0anrx.jpg http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x...psd3yfw4qq.jpg http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x...psbhraft8y.jpg http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x...psgup59zsv.jpg http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x...psj4dy2hx9.jpg |

Re: all dressed up and nowhere to go
truck is shaping up nicely i want to do that frotn axle on my next build did you lower the rear of the truck too or leave it stock if lowered how did you do it thanks and any tips on making the sleeper the same height as the working cab keep up the great work

Re: all dressed up and nowhere to go

I just cut the sleeper in four pieces, glued the sides together, and then I trimmed the top until i thought it looked the way it should ;) rear end is left stock, didn't want a truck that could run only with one trailer, tried that already  there are some pics in the link of my first King Hauler, stretched and dropped! http://www.rctruckandconstruction.co...hread.php?t=85 |
Re: all dressed up and nowhere to go
awesome thanks and thsoe trucks look sick as well one more question that i forgot to ask what do you use to cut the cabs up with will a dremel tol with a cut off wheel work okay or is there something better thansk again and cant wait to see how this one turns out.
|
Re: all dressed up and nowhere to go
usually I use a dremel, but for the front fenders i used a thread, drilled a little hole next to the headlight, put at thread through and pull it back and forth, it can make a pretty clean cut if you know what you are doing, mine was far from clean ;)

thats a serious box of parts.

Re: all dressed up and nowhere to go
Love this build. All the shiny bits look great, its something to consider other than painting them. It'll be my first time cutting and working a body. Looks like you have a lot of practice the way some of interior and ext mods came out, very nice!
