Re: Midwest Fall Meet ~ Oct. 24 & 25
I'm going to call the hotel today. According to Ben they're charging a bunch for the rooms for some conference. I'll see if I can't get a special rate.

I am in and I will take the usal room.
|
Re: Midwest Fall Meet ~ Oct. 24 & 25
I'm not getting anywhere unfortunately with special rates. I will be able to reserve a block of rooms for shows so we won't have the issue we did in the spring.
Foster Inn is probably your best bet if the Best Western is too steep for your wallet. The exterior of the building is not encouraging, but I've heard all the rooms were remodeled over the last couple years. |
Re: Midwest Fall Meet ~ Oct. 24 & 25
I'm in for sure.

Re: Midwest Fall Meet ~ Oct. 24 & 25
Alex and I should be rolling in Friday afternoon.

Re: Midwest Fall Meet ~ Oct. 24 & 25
Not in the cards for this show either.... Looks like we wont be making it. :(:( Hoping next year will work a little better.

Re: Midwest Fall Meet ~ Oct. 24 & 25
Y'all gonna miss a good time. It's the only show in the US that Im aware of that we can do what we want.... we can build roads, excavate a mini mine or whaterever. We have space that is all ours, why is it so hard for us to show up and enjoy?

Re: Midwest Fall Meet ~ Oct. 24 & 25
Life and poor planning.
I'm concerned if I drop the money on a trommel and other scale site stuff that it wouldn't make any difference in the turnout. |

Re: Midwest Fall Meet ~ Oct. 24 & 25
Had a great time at the show. Sorry no pics or video. I was kind of busy running the new excavator and 6X6. Excavator is going to take a lot of practice time :eek:
Thanks for Nate hosting another great show and to all who helped me with the excavator. Especially are resident electronics guru- Travis!! |
Re: Midwest Fall Meet ~ Oct. 24 & 25
That Mack looks sweet. Are those custom rails? Attempting to build a Aeromax Daycab and i currently have King and Globe rails and not sure if i should use the the aeromax ones and cut to desired lenght or use the Globe Rails.
|
Re: Midwest Fall Meet ~ Oct. 24 & 25
Thats Bens Pearl White Mack. I think they are custom rails. They look about the length of the globe rails.
I have used both globe and king rails for my Tractors that pull my end dump. The longer rails allow the truck to steer better when loaded but the short rails allow you to back up better with a short trailer. |
Re: Midwest Fall Meet ~ Oct. 24 & 25
Glad you all had a good meet. Looks like the weather turned out well, the way it looked I thought you'd be digging holes in the hanger floor!

It got quite chilly on Saturday, overcast, very breezy and misty. The chilly yet sunshine filled Sunday morning had us in the barn working the asphalt millings. Good times none the less! Ben |

Re: Midwest Fall Meet ~ Oct. 24 & 25
Fabulous great time.
We pondered what kind of ground prep so we can lay concrete roads in. A drivers stand might be helpful too. |
Re: Midwest Fall Meet ~ Oct. 24 & 25
Izzy. If we use limestone "fines" they will pack like concrete and not crack. I will do some research to see if it's available there.
|
Re: Midwest Fall Meet ~ Oct. 24 & 25
Hey thanks Spudd for the compliment. I built that truck to go anywhere and get dirty. It worked awesome at Nates place.
I think we should try the stuff to make the roads. If it doesn't work, we can just dig it up and haul it away. Ed |
Re: Midwest Fall Meet ~ Oct. 24 & 25
Hmm. Or we can mix a little cement at the factory before we lay it down and spread it out. Either way I like it.
