Starting my daycab Kenworth update 12/6
Well I'm starting a Kenworth daycab project!
I have not decided how detailed it will be yet....so I will take it one step at a time. I have a 1/16 scale model that I can look at,and use some parts off of. Well here are some starter pics....the cab will be candy green w/black,and silver graphics.....old school. http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5/DSC02461.jpg http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5/DSC02460.jpg http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5/DSC02459.jpg http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5/DSC02458.jpg http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5/DSC02457.jpg http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5/DSC02456.jpg http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5/DSC02454.jpg http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5/DSC02438.jpg more to come later! |

Nice work!
Looks old school with the quad round headlights... I like! Like the air cleaners too - you make them? Question - why the low mounted tanks/battery boxes? |

I may use the air cleaners off of the 1/16 model. I like the over all stance of lowered tanks and steps,...I am not sure if I am going to keep them that way are not! |

very nice.keep up the good work..
|
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
That is lookin' killer!:) The stance of the truck and the wheelbase really set it off, especially in addition to the old school KW details you added!
Yeah those 1/16 Monogram kits come in handy for reference too...the scale difference for some of the emblems really isn't all that bad either. Keep up the awesome work! -Alex |

Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
I changed my mind and decided to paint it red and white!
The frame is painted. http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5/DSC02469.jpg I moved the front axle forward. http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5/DSC02476.jpg http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5/DSC02478.jpg Now comes the part I hate.....cutting the fenders, hood, and so on! I hate sanding!!! |
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
Looking good Troy! I like how the hubs are red against the polished wheels.

The wheels are the best mod. you can do in my opinion! |
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
I'll be watching this build closely. There have been a few KH to Peterbilt conversions now but not so many KH to Kenworth conversions. Looking good so far! I didn't realise the front axle needs to go forward for a KW too. As far forward as a Peterbilt?
|
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
Hey Nick,I think the axle needs to be moved forward on the KH kit for any
build in my opinion.Look at the stock bumper spacing....it's way to big of a gap to be prototypical! Thanks for the comments! http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5/DSC08077.jpg |
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
As I have been working with my Knight Hauler, I am thinking about using it as a base for my W900l. Yeah the King may be a good choice, but I have my reasons for choosing the Knight.
You are doing a great job sneaky-pete. |
Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
red always looks good

Re: Starting my daycab Kenworth
Off to an excellent start! Boy, just looking at it from the front end, with that grill, Wedico headlights, and the bumper already on there, it hardly looks like it will need much more to be an accurate KW! Even though I know there is more work to be done with cab steps, air cleaners, ect. Very awesome project. I like it!
|
