Re: The Machinist
Nice fleet of RC's.
I really enjoy the Heli's too. Did you get an mCP X yet? :-) |

Re: The Machinist
Got my MCPX today:D
Flies like a dream. Much like my Trex 250se only more locked in in a hover. Go Flybarless:) |
Re: The Machinist
That is great!
I'll have mine early next week (second batch) hopefully it will hold together. Even after doing all the assembly checks I'll loop fishing line around the blade grips for safety. I like fbl as well! |
Re: The Machinist
My hobby shop just sent his back he sold one to one of our experienced heli guys and he took it home spun it up and learned to duck real fast. They also tried two more at the shop and same thing happened so he sent them back till the problem is fixed all three helies flung a blade off with less than 1 min of fly time. I hope they get the problem fixed because they are a cool little heli.

Re: The Machinist
Mine didn't throw any blades but the 3 in 1 unit was defective. It would lock out and shut down under load. Horizon has put a new one in the mail for me. Hopefully they get all the bugs worked out soon, the few flights I managed were quite fun. I even managed a loop with it.

Re: The Machinist
Got my MCPX repaired and setup. Boy does it fly well. My only gripe is that the tail blows out under full collective/cyclic load during flips. But I have read that you have to be really smooth on the sticks and not jam them to their stops and it will fly well.
Practice, practice, practice. So far I've Lawn Darted it 6 times and only broken one link:D |
Re: The Machinist
I am really enjoying mine too. I had to add a lot of negative atv for inverted flight. I tried flying it inverted in the garage a few times and failed everytime, then on a clam day I tried it outside and found out that I didn't have enough negative pitch. I could flip it over and hover it inverted but, didn't have enough pitch to flip it back over. Wrecking this little bugger in the grass is better than concrete.:D

Re: The Machinist
very nice fleet
i just started with the heli's and it is hard for this old man lol |
Re: The Machinist
I have some catching up to do, with flying the little bugger. Not having any success yet with looping it, but still having a lot of fun flying it.

Re: The Machinist
Short video clip of the Port Alberni R/C club race track. Taken from a camera mounted under My Trex 500.

Re: The Machinist
You should build the "Highway Man" semi truck. Zimms Customs posted a pic of it. The helicopter flies out of the semi trailer! It'll be cool. :) Nice fleet.

Re: The Machinist
Way to go Jordy! Dirt track looks impressive. How heavy is the camera and do you think it would pick up some logs. We could do some Heli logging at the truck show.

Re: The Machinist
The camera is only about 4oz. But the helicopter can lift 5 lbs easily. The only problem with flying at the truck show is the 40 inch carbon fiber disk spinning 2400 rpm interacting with spectators:eek:
My dad has wanted me to put a grapple under one of my heli's for the longest time but I'm just getting to the point in my flying where I might try it under controlled conditions |

Re: The Machinist
Yeah they scare me too. I fly at the track when nobody is there. Just so I don't have to worry about hitting anyone.

Re: The Machinist
finally got some weather dry enough to fly in.

Re: The Machinist
Um, hate to point this out - but you are flying that helicopter the wrong way - the blades go on TOP. ;) :)

Re: The Machinist
Oh Thats why it's so hard to land.........
|
Re: The Machinist
You can land that way, But it sure is hard on parts. Been there dun that.

Re: The Machinist
I find I have way more "feel" with pinch control of the gimbals especially since I cut the first joint of my right thumb off (long story) and had it reattached a few years ago and it has limited feeling in the tip.

Re: The Machinist
Well I think I've found the limitations of the Mcpx. It was blowing pretty good today and the poor thing just didn't have the jam to pull out of a low level back flip and I stuffed it hard into the dirt. New frame, links, and blades. Oh well at least parts are cheap:rolleyes:
|
Re: The Machinist
Time start flying your "500"!!! If parts were only as inexpensive as the mCPX.

Now if I could only convince you to bust out the 700 and get it inverted  |
