Mack Superliner conundrum
Hi all,
I have a build issue im hoping someone might be able to help with. A couple of years ago, my lovely wife purchased a 1983 Mack Superliner 3d printed cab from Shapeways online. The cab is gorgeous, and it came with all of the Superliner badges, MACK badges, even the bulldog for the hood. We recently moved house. And, all the badges have gone missing.... Shapeways has, to my understanding, closed up shop permanently. Is there anyone out there in trucker world that replicates these types of badges? I will post pics of my build soon, but I'm desperately wanting to replace my missing badges. Any help would be much appreciated guys. Thankyou in advance. |
Re: Mack Superliner conundrum
Shapeways did indeed go under. They have recently resurfaced though under all new management and now selling the same services as before. Unfortunately all the model files they had were deleted as part of the bankruptcy and are no longer available. They do have a separate site with downloadable files called thangs.com. I just did a quick search using the work 'mack' and immediately found a Mack bulldog hood ornament. It would have to be scaled down to fit your truck, but it's an option. So you might want to give that a try and see what else is there. There are a number of similar sites today that could also be searched. Some are free to download and some are pay. Thingiverse, cults3d and printables are just a few. Good luck in your search. Look forward to seeing your build.

Re: Mack Superliner conundrum
Hey Zabco thankyou for that info mate.
I'll definitely have a good look for sure. It's been so long since I've been on here I'm still trying to remember how to post pics up. I'll get worked out soon and put a few up. Thanks again |
Re: Mack Superliner conundrum
You will have to use an outside hosting service to upload your photos to and then post the link to them here. Unfortunately this forum does not get near the amount of viewers/posters that it used to. There are still a few of us who regularly visit but there is a sister site on facebook and most have moved over there. FB is faster and you can directly post photos and videos there which is what people want today. What you can't do is create long step by step build build series that this site was so good for. Just an absolute treasure trove of information and techniques here that will never be available anywhere else.

Re: Mack Superliner conundrum
Oh wow, ok.
I'm not on any form of social media, so this forum was a great form of learning for me, and everyone has always been very welcoming and helpful. I'll have to ask my wife (whom is on FB) if she can have a look for me. Thankyou for your info |
Re: Mack Superliner conundrum
Certainly feel free to post here for as long as you can. There are still a few of us who regularly still visit and post and I'm sure we would all like to see your work. Always open to seeing different methods and techniques. A couple of other sites that have similar forums as this, but nowhere near the volume of information, are:

Re: Mack Superliner conundrum
I'm curious to see the badges and how complex they are. I'm able to do some CAD work to get you a printable file, but exact dimensions and font will be some guess and check.

Re: Mack Superliner conundrum
Definitely happy to keep posting here for sure.
I'm struggling to work out how to get pics on here again lol. I think I used to use photo bucket?? I'll keep working on it |

Re: Mack Superliner conundrum
I hope they all worked guys, there's quite a few other photos of the complete build so far but this is all I had time for today.
There's still all the lights, air intakes, wing, and bling to go on it yet. Hope the pics worked?? |

Pictures work. Take a while to load.

I see nothing but hyperlink to a single image page... So let's check out post 18
https://ibb.co/j9m1hqsb - clicked through to that page "Bb code" gives hyperlink to page + image < url=https://ibb.co/j9m1hqsb] <img]https://i.ibb.co/Fk2j6cCm/20250518-203350.jpg[/img][/url] Strip that down to just image < img]https://i.ibb.co/Fk2j6cCm/20250518-203350.jpg[/img] How 'bout NOW? https://i.ibb.co/Fk2j6cCm/20250518-203350.jpg -- Cool looking rig! I'm digging the color, and those rims look pretty wild |
Re: Mack Superliner conundrum
Forget photo bucket. They decided to start charging for the use of their service several years ago and as a result we lost hundreds of photos from old postings because the original posters refused to pay (don't blame them on bit). They lost so much business they changed their mind about having to pay but now they put a big water mark in the middle of every photo from their site.
