Hopper BTM Bld

Guys and Gals, I will post pics of the upcoming Hopper BTM. Please be patient with me/us, as this is the prototype and may undergo a few changes. Please feel free to ask questions. As, i stated on Iz's post, this kit was very easy to assemble. I used button-head screws just to see how it looked all put together. Tonight, I tore it all down and began to counter-sinking all the screws.

Pieces laid out

Trailer looks nice. Kind of has to with you and Izzy working on it:rolleyes: Any thought of using flat head allen screws instead of the phillips? Might look better???

Re: Hopper BTM Bld

Rob - your adder piece for the rear has end forms - do you think this should be going forward all as one piece?

rc_farmer 11-10-2011 09:34 AM

Re: Hopper BTM Bld

Izzy, yes, you are correct it should be one piece.

Re: Hopper BTM Bld

Rob - we talked about dropping the ICC bumper all together - thinking that it detracts from the trailer looks.....what if I supplied a filler panel like you made that attaches like the ICC for those who want a look closer to yours but have the flexability to still have the ICC bumper.....

Any one what to chime in on this??

The filler panel's cool and certainly adds to the realism of a Timpte or Wilson but for a guy like me who would be looking to go more toward the look of a Jet I'd rather receive the stock setup with the ICC that was originally shown.....just my .02 and of course if there's more demand for the filler panel option than I would understand if that's the route taken. ICC bumper could easily be fabbed up once the trailer arrives on my end.

BTW, awesome build up and detail overhaul of the trailer Robert!.....Looking great!

Rob - do you think the model without the arch fillers, top caps and edge rail are a must for the base kit? your thoughts. I really like the additions they do set that "look"

Re: Hopper BTM Bld

Your detailing additions to an already great trailer are spot on Rob!

Iz, for a basic kit, no, I wouldn't include all that to keep your cost down, I am sure that 99% of the talent here can shape their puppy to their likin'. These fillers apply to Tempte, Wilson and maybe a couple more.

Thanks Brian, i will be able to get more done after this wknd. i am probably going to reshape the ribs too. They are supposed to be oval instaed of the triangle shaped.

What about offering the tarp parts as a option, every grain trailer I've ever seen has had a roll tarp on it and not all of us shmoes have Rob's talent. Just a thought.

Lil update on the trailer:

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...t/IMG_0002.jpg

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...t/IMG_0003.jpg

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...t/IMG_0004.jpg

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...t/IMG_0006.jpg

Once the panels are completely secure to the side, the join-lines will barley be visible, then it will be primed and painted.

Thanks for looking!

Fitting to truck, moved gear back 8 1/2in's from front of trailer. Moved kingpin back 2in's. This make the trailer fit closer to the likings of the 1:1

Rob I like you home made landing gear. And tightening it up really made it come together.....I like the sides but I personally like the plain back though.....

Rob thanks for showing me how to make the landing gear legs :D

rc_farmer 12-25-2011 11:24 AM

Re: Hopper BTM Bld

I will post some poics of the complete bracket. You have to notch out the corner that fits to the slant portion of the hopper. By repositioning the landing gear, there is more clearance between the back of th trailer and the gear.

I know this has been a slow build, but it is finally starting to come together. Started some paint. Still have a lot of trimming to do, but its starting to look like a HPR BTM.
