Hi from Canada

Hi everyone,

just wanted to introduce myself, My name is Mike and I have been messing around with R/C for a long time, and have recently bought a tamiya 1/14 MAN truck, I found this forum by luck and hope to be a part of this community.

I'm currently in the middle of building my truck, and will post pics when finished

cheer's, Neil.

Re: Hi from Canada

We don't have any official meets yet. It there's enough of us. Ow we should work on setting something up

REV73 01-29-2012 05:49 PM

Re: Hi from Canada

I think setting up some sort of a meet would be great, but the question is who has the time and the know how to organize that sort of thing, I see some of the set ups they run in the u.s. with the roads and piles of dirt and the construction equip and I am amazed. How do we go about starting one?? I would suggest we might think of the Hamilton area for a location as we have members from Brantford, Ancaster, Selkirk, Burlington, and all the way to Toronto now. Thoughts?

eurocharged 01-29-2012 09:41 PM

Re: Hi from Canada

well, in my daytime job i'm used to organizing big meets for real cars

my sites are www.eurocharged.ca, www.eurocharged.com and www.eurochargedasia.com

I can get my customers to sponsor us some food and drinks, all we need is really an empty parking lot and a BBQ

Re: Hi from Canada

Hmmm that sounds like a great idea, doesn't fergus have a big truck show every year? Might be able to get in with them?

REV73 01-30-2012 03:51 PM

Re: Hi from Canada

that would be an awesome place to showcase our stuff, should we contact them about setting up a display???

civic83 01-30-2012 04:04 PM

Re: Hi from Canada

Way ahead of you rev, I sent them an email. Their shows the end of July , we will see what they say. I think once I hear back from them I'll start up a new thread for the show ( if it's a go), what's everyone think?

REV73 01-30-2012 04:17 PM

Re: Hi from Canada

I think this could be awesome, they're is bound to be more guys around this area and maybe we could flush them out of the woodwork with a facebook page as well if it becomes a reality. are you thinking just a road course, or do we know some locals with the construction equipment too??

REV73 01-30-2012 04:30 PM

Re: Hi from Canada

Re: Hi from Canada

yea you can count me in .we should look at doing a city mock up for our trucks i agree i see them in the states but we don't have any here but it would be nice if we could find something indoors that way we can enjoy it year round and not just the summer cuz i'm getting cranky as i'm sure some of you are i have to send another e-mail to the truck club prez it seems i left out a letter and it went somewhere else.its the antique truck club i belong to they have a show every year

1985 kenworth 02-03-2012 11:37 PM

Re: Hi from Canada

hey guys i got an e-mail back from my truck club prez and he has welcomed us to come along and display and demo our trucks i sent out pm's to all of you hey eurocharge would you be interested in it i have to let the guy know at least one month before so he can add it to the events lineup so far only got one reply back it is being held july 1st weekend in clifford, ontario let me know

REV73 02-04-2012 12:12 AM

Re: Hi from Canada

Hey guys, just an update. Anyone from ontario thats interested im starting up an informal club for us with a site to host some pics and stuff on, might give us more cred when trying to get into events. The site willbe swomta.ca (south western ontario model truckers association). The site will not be a forum, just a place to show off our trucks. No cost for membership either. Hopefully the site will be up in a couple weeks.

REV73 02-07-2012 07:07 PM

Re: Hi from Canada

sounds awesome, I was actually thinking of cool names for a club if we started one and came up with swomt...pretty funny that you had almost the exact same idea. nice work!

1985 kenworth 02-07-2012 11:46 PM

Re: Hi from Canada

hey guys according to the prez its all grass except there is a pavillion with covering with a concrete base we can set up in and probably have to ourselves and he is so interested he said they can definetely work something out for us if that does'nt work .i'm not sure how big this pavillion is i think it would be large enough for a crowd of people to sit under ..i will find out more and let everyone know as far as where is clifford i'm not sure where i remember seeing that sign but i remember passing it at one time but again i will find out and let everyone know .count me in about the model truck club i'm sure we can figure something out and have get-togethers to showcase our trucks and run them

Hi! I'm up in Fort Sakatchewan, Alberta. Been into R/C for 28 years, mostly airplanes and helis. I picked up a E-Savage at a garage sale with a burned out ESC. Replaced it with a brushless setup and. Now it won't stay wheels down!! I was looking for more of a crawler/dozer setup. I really would like a scale D-9( I have a long driveway with alot of snow to move!). Where would one find a kit/ prebuilt model?
