2 IH 433 payscrapers (ps433-2 moves)
I do not quite remember all of the beginning so I'll give some pics w/a narrative . I decided to try to build (what I have seen thus far) what has not been done . so far it is a great success :D
the scaling of pics and design and pattern making , starts with a parts book and some general knowledge of compacity range as it's difficult to acquire data for these old machines . all motor scrapers have a basic shape and size according to bowl compacity . So I figured out the comparable machine in another bran such as a cat 637 to get the general dimensions . basically using the tire size to finesse the design http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...433drawing.jpg the patterns http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...uncutparts.jpg the 5th wheel http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...315thwheel.jpg the cut plates waiting to be welded http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z.../4332parts.jpg the next few pics are of the assembly . now scrapers are heavy so are these by design :D the round at the goose neck is a 12000# front axle king pin :p the bowl assembly http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...r/4331bowl.jpg http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z.../4331frame.jpg the goose neck http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...1gooseneck.jpg http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...1apronlift.jpg http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...wgooseneck.jpg 5th wheel and goose neck http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...15thwheel2.jpg some cab and sheet metal http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...sheetwork1.jpg http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...sheetwork2.jpg grill http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z.../4332grill.jpg drive train HPI savage diffs anhime automation gear motors tried as a single speed great for loading but slow as **** for travel so playing with traxxas e-maxx 2 speed manual trans http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...bearinghub.jpg http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...2frontdiff.jpg http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...lder/emax2.jpg running out off room to be continued http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...bearinghub.jpg |
I will be back to work on this 1 which I labeled ps433-2 soon . My 2nd trans showed up today . now to free up the lathe to make a few couplings .
as I said before I will have my vids up as soon as I get you-tube figured out . I got the watching fixed by getting a computer with a bigger processor thats it for now ;) thanks for looking IHSteve |

Re: 2 IH 433 payscrapers (ps433-2 moves)
Steve.. Nice going..
I could bring the D8 by to use as a push cat to save all that bending over..LOL I always wondered how well a scraper would work for us..Lots of possibilities What does the scraper weigh..?? |
Re: 2 IH 433 payscrapers (ps433-2 moves)
in excess of 40# , the weight is the key;)

Wow! Great job with that scraper. Loved watching the video of her in action. At 40 pounds, she is pretty hefty! Must be a pain in the back to move her... literally. :D Can't wait to see more from you.

Re: 2 IH 433 payscrapers (ps433-2 moves)
ihbuilder-looking good!! what tires are you using and what size are they?
|
Re: 2 IH 433 payscrapers (ps433-2 moves)
thanks Dan , yea she's getting heavy and not done yet still got to make the ejector and may fill the tires w/bb's + elec. and hydros . thats the purpose for the 5900i + rogers so I don't have to carry it :p
thanks Tom , the tires are off the tamiya mammoth . 6" dia. x 2" wide they scaled out rite on IHSteve |
Re: 2 IH 433 payscrapers (ps433-2 moves)
Hey Steve run up here and move my excavator with your lowboy will you? Ed
|
Re: 2 IH 433 payscrapers (ps433-2 moves)
Thanks for the info-I gave up on the mining truck I wanted to build because I couldn't find the correct size tires.
|
Re: 2 IH 433 payscrapers (ps433-2 moves)
Tom, Why don't you try to cast some tires from silicone? If you could come up with the right size you probably could sell some to others in the same situation. What dimensions are you looking for?
|
Re: 2 IH 433 payscrapers (ps433-2 moves)
I grew up with IH construction equipment and really enjoy seeing your scrapers. What truck are you considering?

THe scrapers are looking good steve...looks like you have the drive pretty well figured out with tons of power to load ..Are you planning to add a second gear as well? |
Re: 2 IH 433 payscrapers (ps433-2 moves)
Tanks LOU I was planing to but with the trannys I got to change a lot . so I'm thinking of gearing it up for the high speed and use the radio to slow it down . got plenty of power and weight :)

IHSteve- I laughed reading your last comment.....I second guess myself on a lot of stuff, just funny to see someone else doing it...got a kick out of it. It's looking good! I think there is a race going on.....let's see who can get there scraper/pull pan to fill the bowl 1st.

Re: 2 IH 433 payscrapers (ps433-2 moves)
thanks mog , yea she got the guts but slow as heck traveling thats the purpose of the trans to up the travel speed . I'm thinking making my own so low is direct and hi is 4:1 overdrive

Ben , I do not know if any one else tried theirs , but I loaded mine half full till I got tied of holding the bowl up by hand. I'll be running the chain drive till I get the trannies made gona take some time by hand X 4  did some more sheet metal while making wheel blanks post on it later this wknd ( no pretty paint now ) IHSteve |
