Bull It Angus 379 Build "HOT IRON"

Starting a new build for a customer been holding off on starting the thread been waiting on parts to come in but since I got a few parts in and lots of others are to be here soon I figured I could get started..

This will be a x2 build 2 of the same truck at the same time for Bull It Angus out of Gann Valley SD there will be lots of one off custom alum parts on these two trucks.

This is the truck HOT IRON that I will be building.Trailers to follow..
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...icks/097-1.jpg

Went out and took all the measurements I needed and some details and did a cad of the truck. I do these for everyone I build a custom truck for and a good reference for my self. I do these for a the custom parts too as you will see.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...cks/010-12.jpg

Started with some of my rails cut down and the frame ends tapered.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...cks/003-25.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...cks/001-22.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...cks/002-25.jpg

Then Russ's Air Ride and RC4WD scale bolts. All showing bolts will be scale bolts.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...cks/004-21.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...cks/005-20.jpg

Then here are the 2 rollers
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...cks/002-28.jpg

Since I skipped a bunch here is whats all on them.

Bone Yard.. Air Ride, Frame members and hanger bearing member.
Rc4wd....... Scale bolts, plastic punisher shafts, and Hauler Tires
Integy 55 turn and 6 tooth pinion
HiTeck 645 servos

Now here is where I am at tonight. First custom part a signal tire lift axle.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...Picks/0042.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...Picks/0052.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...Picks/0032.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...cks/006-17.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...cks/007-16.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...cks/008-18.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...cks/009-13.jpg

And that is where I am at right now. Time to go mount the other lift axle.

Axle looks great, used a lot of the parts I used but all machined now. Did you make them? I really wanted a machined axle and hoop. But did what I could.

Nice progress and trucks, as usual, TC. I was wondering what you use to machine your parts, like the lift axle cross-member. Let's see some updates! :D

Dwayne... These 2 were the proto types I drew up for Russ to see if they would work and they do work very well so I know the plan is to make them in both signal and dual set ups I just dont know when you would have to ask Russ..;)

Looking great Paul. I like the smaller diameter rim and tire combo on the lift axle. That's pretty cool. True to the original.

Re: Bull It Angus 379 Build "HOT IRON"

Well I have been building away on the 2 trucks finally I have some progress pics to show..

I have the wrap around half fenders mounted they still need to be sanded and polished.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...161520_214.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...172432_109.jpg

Bumper is mounted and rear frame plate is installed.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...161530_348.jpg

Front fenders are mounted and the cab and sleeper roofs are rounded.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...192046_424.jpg

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...171053_805.jpg

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...171101_789.jpg

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...174149_220.jpg

And I have the lift axle all finished and working.. I used a Hiteck digitail metal geared Hi Tork servo that is programmed to move at more of a scale speed as you can see it is set up to push on springs so that way the servo is not over working and the lift can go up and down under load..

that's awesome! just one quick question though. don't you need a screw in the servo to keep the servo horn on?

Thanks Hippy and yeah there should be one there but I was not aware I needed to have it in for mock up only once it was painted and finished I thought.

Hi Tamiya Cowboy.

That is some really nice work you have done so far on HOT IRON 1 & 2.

I started building my first truck last weekend, its a king hauler.

Still don't know what color I am going to paint it yet but I will be buying a metal bull bar from Garden trucking for it as well.

From Cameron. :)
