Re: my attempt at a dozer build
Cool looking scratch built dozer. What did you do for drive motors & servos for lift?
Got vids? |
Re: my attempt at a dozer build
well the tracks are off my excavators and the lift is not servo 2 servos where not strong enough so i put a motor in there with a shaft through it to each side for the lift:)i will get some vids up soon

Re: my attempt at a dozer build
Lookin good Neil, what are you using for drive motors
greg |
Re: my attempt at a dozer build
they are jamco gearhead motors
|
Re: my attempt at a dozer build
How many inch oz per motor
|
Re: my attempt at a dozer build
Here is a photo of the chain I use Neil, the front ideler is made on the lathe, you can see at the front of the track frame there is a insert which is spring loaded so that if a rock gets in the chain it just adjusts and keeps on rolling..

Re: my attempt at a dozer build
I use teflon on the bottom of the undercarrage instead of rollers so there is no drag and nothing ever plugs up with dirt

Re: my attempt at a dozer build
My D8 tracks and pads are the same as the Hitachi hoe

Re: my attempt at a dozer build
im not sure the rpm on the motors for the tracks they came with them but i bought 6 for my dump truck from ebay at 15 rpm and those i cannot stop them and i paid like 30 bucks oh that link you gave me for the chain i guess you just called them and ordered thanks for all the help greg:)

Re: my attempt at a dozer build
Nice build. You have captured the proportions on the cab & body sheetmetal for a D61 very nicely. Since I'm a big Komatsu fan, it is good to see some being built.

Re: my attempt at a dozer build

The setup Greg has built is what you need, it would deliver a lot more traction to the ground. |
Re: my attempt at a dozer build
Yes it pushes ok but needs more traction joe hint hint
|
Re: my attempt at a dozer build
looks like you have a really good start why no build pics??? i can't wait to see a video and paint
|
Re: my attempt at a dozer build
i guess no build pics as i was on a mission to get it up and running:)
|
Re: my attempt at a dozer build
Niel , flow Gregs build on his tracks and bottom , that should work well for you . I tend to get on the heavy side of things because of the soil I have or lack of :p

Re: my attempt at a dozer build
Trucker n-dozer looks like it works okay. Nice job!
|
Re: my attempt at a dozer build
looks sweet glad to see that it works fine
|
Re: my attempt at a dozer build
Alright Neil, looking good. I bet it is eazy to operate with that long trackframe. I see what you mean about getting some traction to the ground though. Once you get some cleets it will be stout. What drive motors are you running, or did I miss that?

Re: my attempt at a dozer build
Nice job!!!!! looks like it works and it is a different brand that i have seen on here nice job keep building
|
Re: my attempt at a dozer build
joe they are jameco gearhead motors not sure the rpm as they where on the tracks when i got them:)
|
Re: my attempt at a dozer build
joe and greg those motors on the tracks are jameco 151441 motors 100/1 reduction 12 v 57 rpm does not tell you the torqe of them hope this helps:)
|
Re: my attempt at a dozer build
I think they are rated at 30.6 oz. in. of torque.
|
Re: my attempt at a dozer build
Would those work for a 50 lbs model dozer?
|
Re: my attempt at a dozer build
nice job!!

Re: my attempt at a dozer build
looks good nice work how do you like the traction now ? better pushing?
|
Re: my attempt at a dozer build
Nice work. The tracks look great. I have to say the budget builds are an inspiration to us all. Just goes to show you don't need to have a ton skills and fancy equipment, or even deep pockets to enjoy a dirt pushing machine.
