Re: Liebherr R984 1:14
Well, these are the most important pieces, now it make a dotted and drill (which has no mystery), one thing that if it could be funny / curious, are the nuts with hex screws that hold the pads to the chain, finally i did it with my cnc router, the pieces were made in brass, nuts are threaded to M2 and measure 3x3mm, totaling 405 nuts, machined with a 1.5mm drill (the champion of end mills)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...0.jpg~original http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...9.jpg~original http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...0.jpg~original a little video of the machining https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHkC...ature=youtu.be and finally .. I could assemble the track http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...2.jpg~original http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...7.jpg~original http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...0.jpg~original more photos, this is the time of the hubcaps for the traction wheel, made of aluminum the master piece is made in 2 pieces, one milling and the other are made using laser engraving http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...0.jpg~original after that, both are join http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...3.jpg~original the mold and the wax copies http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...9.jpg~original the result of the casting http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...d.jpg~original http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...2.jpg~original http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e.jpg~original salu2! |

Re: Liebherr R984 1:14
Is the advantage of a cycloid reduction a thinner package than a planetary? Watching the video of you spinning it fast with a drill, it looks like there may be some vibration to it...

Re: Liebherr R984 1:14
thanks for comment
i progress too slowly, now i´m making the hydraulic valve block i hope to share the test soon Lil Giants: cycloidal reduction have many advantages, some are: - if you turn the output axis, the input axis can´t be move (brake system) - there are more surface in contac--> can manage bigger loads - the output axis have a big diameter in the video there are 2 stages of 1:10 (total 1:100) but this is a first test, now i have 2 stages of 1:15 (total 1:225) in the same place (and could increase the final relation) to obtain this is complex with spur gears (but i don't say you that it can't be done) on the negative side this gearbox are difficult to machining, nevertheless i´ll i use it on the chain and in the turret turn regards |
Re: Liebherr R984 1:14
Very nice work so far Adolfo! Is your CNC mill with 4th axis home made? I bet a clever bloke like you could put a bar feed on it and go lights out? Or has it already got one? ;) Your work on the cycloidal reduction is very interesting! Please keep posting and sharing your progress with us :)

Re: Liebherr R984 1:14
thanks RCKiwi
yes, all my machines are diy at this moment i have built (all are in my youtube channel) - laser-plasma cutter - router with 4 axis - cnc lathe - wire EDM cutter - SLA 3D printer - fellows gear shaper - ... the 4 axis not have a pull bar due to the reduction i had used, the gearhead not have a through bore, for a feeder i need this and automatic lathe chuck, if i have to make thousand of pieces from a rod, maybe i would think about it ;) i hope posting soon with a little test.. regards |

Hello everyone, the machine is almost finished, here I leave the rest of the development
the last photos and one test video https://i.imgur.com/hRBJnpV.jpg https://i.imgur.com/dnMPxtv.jpg https://i.imgur.com/aCIfSJm.jpg https://i.imgur.com/QLYuxS9.jpg https://youtu.be/ZSXQkJDTfbQ https://i.imgur.com/Gejjkig.jpg https://i.imgur.com/7lj2xPZ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/0jiAEjw.jpg https://i.imgur.com/9QnQSzZ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/rpnLr2P.jpg https://i.imgur.com/IokRF0e.jpg https://i.imgur.com/UmRbnJU.jpg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQ55BgwHt-Q regards |
Re: Liebherr R984 1:14
this is the counterweight of the machine, this is only the model 3d printed to obtain the final part from casting
The first thing to decide is the material, in this case I have chosen to make the counterweight, lead, by weight it would be totally out of scale, but I want to give a certain touch of "forcefulness" to the machine, besides, to remove there is always time https://i.imgur.com/2Ez2YKE.jpg next part, letters and details, at this time i thought to use 3d printed part, but sure i have troubles in cast, no way, plan B https://i.imgur.com/1zw2DoY.jpg the cast https://i.imgur.com/nf2WcYH.jpg https://i.imgur.com/QG5lFYZ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/LcALpu6.jpg https://i.imgur.com/a5uavPa.jpg https://i.imgur.com/2G63Abc.jpg https://i.imgur.com/nFksgHT.jpg https://i.imgur.com/HOA3yRG.jpg https://i.imgur.com/VxXVlC7.jpg I have to pause.. a little problem https://i.imgur.com/61uxsP0.jpg https://i.imgur.com/OANBgUX.jpg a rebob (i don´t know if is the correct word, a superficial fail) i have to repair, first i have to prepare the surface and after use a epoxy putty to fill the fail and and a lot of sanding by hand... https://i.imgur.com/IPxqpGp.jpg ... or not, better to use the machines https://i.imgur.com/xUmSW55.jpg https://i.imgur.com/mbohBOU.jpg https://i.imgur.com/BMonE14.jpg Now time for the details, i have use my diy mill and wire edm https://i.imgur.com/6qZLSyr.jpg https://i.imgur.com/BZH0p5B.jpg https://i.imgur.com/zQ36Qlx.jpg https://i.imgur.com/aHd6ndz.jpg https://i.imgur.com/hJkewfn.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ECe5gu8.jpg https://i.imgur.com/yYkqbha.jpg https://i.imgur.com/HvgfKA4.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Di6mMOW.jpg the final look has to be similar like this https://i.imgur.com/6tU92cv.jpg a pair of video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmlNWxqZb-U https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkb8AXyLN8I&t i have make an useful (util, utile?) to put the pieces in place https://i.imgur.com/x6jTc5B.jpg https://i.imgur.com/lVOSR0h.jpg |
Re: Liebherr R984 1:14
the bucket, this is a pretty piece, made of steel sheets cut with laser https://i.imgur.com/F5zq6rn.jpg

Re: Liebherr R984 1:14
base for the upper structure
This part is the one that supports the whole upper set, to it is taken both the arm and the counterweight, the base is a 6mm of steel sheet and the most important parts are either groove joints or threaded, photos: https://i.imgur.com/LZ7CiqS.jpg https://i.imgur.com/HFFBMAb.jpg https://i.imgur.com/5bhPRFg.jpg https://i.imgur.com/AKzA8hE.jpg the boom: It is composed of several pieces, the main structure is made by joining steel sheets of different thicknesses, with them I create an inside skeleton, the pivot points are solid pieces, to complete it i will fill the interior with epoxy and filler to give more consistence , Photos: https://i.imgur.com/LjB2ldP.jpg https://i.imgur.com/IBcKlZq.jpg https://i.imgur.com/eDt417f.jpg https://i.imgur.com/XDuro0f.jpg https://i.imgur.com/yBYfSwq.jpg https://i.imgur.com/3p2aEgf.jpg https://i.imgur.com/d67NhQo.jpg https://i.imgur.com/HqXzjcm.jpg reinforcements at the tip of the arm https://i.imgur.com/VZWDNbh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/BfdvaP1.jpg and the look of the set presented https://i.imgur.com/Njxe6aN.jpg the following is the joining of the hydraulics ram in the boom, I use a piece of brass and I will mechanize it to shape https://i.imgur.com/C2iKs3m.jpg https://i.imgur.com/RjqLD9D.jpg https://i.imgur.com/b2mgG0R.jpg this is the set presented https://i.imgur.com/Q4EQ8jr.jpg https://i.imgur.com/1j656iS.jpg The next piece makes the pivot point of the pistons that move the arm, this piece is taken out of casting brass https://i.imgur.com/Lnu5lbv.jpg Another thing I have done is accentuate the detail of the welds on both the sides of the machine, using copper wire and solder https://i.imgur.com/qK7RGOf.jpg https://i.imgur.com/T7WPP6l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Y0DJdj4.jpg and one of the last steps would be to fill as previously mentioned with resin and filler to give more rigidity to the set, filling gaps and fixing some internal parts https://i.imgur.com/gCsXE3P.jpg and here once the resin dries https://i.imgur.com/wTTmgbT.jpg https://i.imgur.com/KhMG487.jpg |
