Chevy 2500 Pickup
 

Hey guys,

Started this build about a week ago, after collecting parts for quite some time. The truck is 1:10, I was trying to do a 1:14 in the beginning, however, parts for the larger scales is so much easier to work with. Anyways, started off with a cheap Rc body that I got off Ebay and bought and modified a trail finder chassis to go under the body. I'm shooting for a some what realistic stance and height on this one, hopefully I can get something close. Eventually I would like to get a sound unit for this, I think a diesel would be pretty neat. ;)

Here is where I'm at now with the build:

Here is the modified chassis. Had to cut off an inch or two off the end, and move the rear axle up about the same. Since the original chassis has so much flex in the suspension, I decided to put some small shocks on it to restrict the travel, but still give it some articulation.

After getting the stance about right, I couldnt stand the look of the bed of the truck. It had the molding from a roll bar that was on it previously, so I went ahead and cut it out and began to make a new one from styrene. I'm just waiting for the putty to dry now so I can get to sanding it down.

Nice, J.D.! The right manufacturer too. The stance is right on. What about a headache rack, fuel tanks and tool box? It would give it the work truck look. Keep it up!

Basically finished the body and rolling chassis. The body work is no where near perfect but its a work truck so it wont matter. ;) Now I have to wait for the motor and ESC to get here, then possibly some sound :) I still need to finish the tail gate but that is no big deal and can be done whenever. The next step on this build is to build a after market tow package. I think I will build it from brass or I might try out the one from Rc4wd first and see if it works.... Here are some more pictures. Thanks for the compliment! I had this body sitting around for months. Then I bought the axles and they sat together for a few more months haha

Thats a good idea! I might look into pin striping some yellow down the side. Maybe I should make black and yellow my fleet colors ;);)

Have a bit of an update. Nothing has actually been done to the truck yet, but I started designing something new and will use my new piece of equipment that I bought for my birthday to build it ;);)

Here is just the start of what I'm building but its far enough to tell what it is. haha Since I work for a snow removal company I thought it would be pretty neat to make a miniature Western snowplow. I'm not replicating a single plow, this one is a bit of a hybrid between a few plows that we run. It would be extremely hard to replicate the mounting system on the new plows, so it will be similar to the older style mounts. The rest of the plow should be pretty close, however, I wont be using hydraulics. I'm going to use a winch for practical purposes, and a servo to turn the plow. Hopefully you guys like it! :):)

I figured why not? I've watched the KW body attempt and thought it was pretty awesome so I thought i would give it a try. The Afinia unit is very user friendly and I have had no problems this far.

The truck turned out nice JD, but this going to be fun watching this plow "grow", and it will be neat on the truck! Keep posting updates!

Have a bit of an update today... Mounted the snow plow mount and the adapter for the tow package. Going to rework the tow package so it sits snug to the bottom of the bumper. Here are some pictures:

Thanks Ben! No plow yet, but have some more progress.

Have the winch and light carriage done. took 3 tries to get it perfect. Here are some pictures. Next will be the plow articulation and plow roll over mechanics. :) Waiting on a package from servo city with a bunch of 2-56 bolts and a servo to make some more progress

Have another update for you guys. Was able to get the main plow support made about a week ago and last night I printed the roll and pivot pieces. Also did some brass work to pull it all together. Got a video of it functioning :D:D

Wow, that's an impressive snow plow! I would like to play with 3d printing someday.
